The Nye Ranch is the perfect setting for group or family retreats, and intimate weddings!!
This is a unique, 100 year old, 6-acre ocean-view property on the California coast. The Nye Ranch was originally a 100-acre dairy. The home is tastefully furnished with antiques, and decorated with art by local artists; giving it a warm lived in, but up to date feel. There is a private flat path to the beach. Well behaved pets are welcome and require a small fee. For those of you who have stayed here before...welcome back!!
There are llamas and horses on the property. You can view whales, an extraordinary variety of birds, deer, and other wildlife from the private oceanview deck, or from the spotting scope inside the house. The Nye Ranch practices organic farming and has an organic vegetable garden.
Immediately fronting the property is an oceanfront pedestrian road where you can walk, jog, or bike for miles (no cars). It is now open all the way into the town of Fort Bragg. The "haul" road (as it is called) is fabulous for family bike rides or peaceful seaside walks. MacKerricher State Park is an easy walk or bike ride, 1/2 mile north. The town of Fort Bragg is 2 miles south.
This is a great comfortable home for a large family gathering but may not be suitable for people with extreme allergies due to the animals and native grasses at the ranch. Wonderful for all ages!! The Nye Ranch is a highly scenic, special place that you will never forget.
The Nye Ranch was used as a location in the feature length film The Calm at The Edge of the Sea and in the short film Hallelujah. It has hosted movie making crews, musical recording artists, screenwriters, nurses, yoga retreats, various women's and men's groups, diving and kayaking groups, small weddings, as well as family get togethers.
The property is wonderfully suited for group retreats as there is plenty of space to spread out and enjoy family and friends, while still being able to escape and find solitude, serenity, and peace of mind. It's the perfect getaway!!

Our extended family met at the Ranch to spend Christmas 2011 together and we had a wonderful time. The Ranch was perfectly suited for our group which ranged in age from 9 to 75. We loved the coastal walk, the beach access, riding the bikes and of course the llamas and horse. The hot tub on the porch was very easy to use. Everything was very clean including the bathroom and kitchen. The Ranch was very easy to find (it's right off the main road), but once inside you really felt like you were "off the beaten path". I would definitely recommend the Ranch to other families, and hope to return again soon.

I love waking up from a comfortable bed to stumble through this historic home towards the back deck and have a wide uninterrupted view of the ocean. The smell is relaxing and soothing, I LOVE IT! I love being so close with my family, all of us staying in this Ranch home. I love being able to have privacy in a room or a corner of the home. I love the beautiful furniture that sets time and holds the past. Thank you.

I enjoyed having time with my family at Nye Ranch. I love spending time here. I love the loft and I love going down to the beach and love the little llamas. 8/6/06 Thank you so much for sharing your incredible home with us. We felt very much at ease and truly enjoyed every minute. All the family was able to have separate time and family time. The weather was a nice blend of warm and cool.
