This beautiful property is located on the quietest side of Caspian Lake, on eight acres, up a hill. You can see the sunrise across the lake and walk a short distance to our private dock. Fifty years ago, my grandparents moved and restored an old farm house. Ten years later my mother found an abandoned 1806 school house, moved and restored it also. The school house was again completely updated in 2006. Because of its charm and history (original school chairs, original artwork and antique furniture) renters have returned year after year. The peaceful quiet has been especially appreciated as a retreat for writers, photographers and artists.
The school house includes a new kitchen, new paint inside and out, entirely new upstairs, new furniture, and new interior design throughout. The dock has been expanded and redone and a large raft added. We live in the farm house which is separated from the school house by a fence, two fields and huge pine trees for privacy.
The school house has 2 queen beds, a double and two singles, an outdoor cedar shower, fields, a view and woods behind the house. In addition to below amenities, we have internet access, DVD player, bread maker and more, a tuned piano, games, canoe, small sailboat, lovely flower gardens and a veggy garden to share.
This is a particularly beautiful area for fall foliage and central to magnificent drives in all directions.
Though we love pets, due to severe family allergies, we maintain a no pet policy. Sorry.
Apparently the pictures make the School house look smaller than it is, so here are dimensions: LR 18'x 25', KIT 12' x 9', MBR 10' x 17', BR2 18' x 15', BR3 11' x 13', DECK 9' x 26'

Why the Owner Chose Greensboro
This property has been in my family for four generations. My grandfather grew up in Montpelier, VT before moving to NYC to practice Law. Since then someone in the family has always retired to Vermont to live in the farm house. My mother moved the school house to our second field in 1958 and when my husband and I took over in 2004 we completely renovated the school house and began renting it. Our family has always had a love affair with The Northeast Kingdom and in particular, with Greensboro, VT.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
This is a unique and completely beautiful location. It is remote and very quiet yet is within driving distance of Stowe and many other interesting locations. Greensboro itself is an adorably quaint Vermont town that has retained its historical uniqueness while providing high quality music, theater, artisans, food, and organic shopping to its summer visitors. Lake Caspian is a pristine lake, well cared for by its community and as a result is extremely clean and beautiful.
