Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: My name is Inga Middleton. I am half Icelandic, half English. I grew up in Iceland but have lived in the UK on and off over the last 20 years.
Why the Owner Chose Mosfellsbaer: I chose to buy a cottage near Reykjavik so we could enjoy being in the stunning and peaceful Icelandic country side, but close enough to the capital to be able to see friends and family. The cottage is also very cozy and comfortable, and the view down the valley is spectacular; on a clear day the majestic Snaefellsnes glacier can be seen in the distance. This glacier has a special place in the hearts of the nation and it is very special to have such a good view of of it.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage: We love hiking in the mountains surrounding the cottage and fishing in the lake.It is also easy to get to all the major sights of southern Iceland and there are some fantastic swimming pools less than half and hour away. Watching the sunset from the terrace or from the rocking chair is very special, especially in the spring during lambing season (may) when the little lambs skip across the field below the cabin.
