My Italian Apartment!!! 60 Sq.Meters main apartment. 18 sq. meter terrace. 60 sq. M solarium all for your private use. Please enjoy my home in a mix of old Italian tradition and a thriving community. 10 minute walk to the quaint, historic town center of Pizzo. Here you will find the Piazza full of local tradition, food and festivals all months of the year. My apartment is in a gated, key entry, new complex with free parking and privacy. The apartment has a full view of the Tyrhennian Sea coastline, evening sunsets and mountains to the east. You can enjoy sunbathing, viewing the sea or relaxing from the private deck or penthouse sun terrace. You can use the binoculars to watch the local fishing and sailing boats, swim in the pool, relax in the apartment, prepare a scrumptious Italian meal and have a taste of Limoncello. Whatever you do, take time to rest and refresh your soul... listen to the birds chirping, an occasional far away rooster crowing, and a passing train. All of this adds to the local charm. Then... You set off for the town center or take a country drive.
The Apartment: Enter the second floor apartment via a marble and tile staircase, where the door will lead you to a 300 sq feet open living, dining, kitchen area, with French doors leading to the deck and full view of the Tyrrenian Sea coastline and setting sun. The living room is tastefully decorated with Italian leather sofa and chair, tables, lighting, TV/ DVD. The floors are of white Italian tile, giving the rooms a cool, contemporary feeling. You will find interesting wall art as well as local ceramic works from the beautiful Calabrian artists. To the right of the room, you will find a stylish Italian kitchen with seating and service for six. You will have use of a full kitchen, all utensils and many spices. Off the main room, you will find the bedrooms, both receiving an eastern breeze from the mountains. You will find one room with queen bed, full length cheval mirror and wardrobe; and the second room with twin beds and wardrobe. Both rooms have unique art, window coverings and comfortable lighting.
The Bathroom: Entering the bathroom you will have use of sink, toilet, bidet and shower with sliding doors.( The shower has ample room to comfortably bath, bend over and turn around!!!) You will have use of a washing machine located in the bathroom and will hang your clothes to dry in the natural sun.
The Deck, Sun Roof Terrace & Pool: Directly off the living areas, you will find full length glass doors that open to the deck and lead to the roof terraces. On the main floor deck, you will find comfortable seating for enjoying your morning coffees, eating a meal or taking in the Sea views. The area is furnished with teak wood, bench settee, table with chairs, sun umbrellas and several local terra-cotta pots with green plantings and lemon tree, giving the area a feeling of charm and ambiance. Choosing to climb the iron spiral staircase, you will find the sun roof terrace which will afford you a panoramic view of the surroundings, and allow you use of sun loungers, table and chairs, swing and umbrella. You may find this area comfortable in Summer for sun bathing, and Spring and Fall to feel the warmth of the sun and cool sea breezes. From both decks, you will have a view of the pool, which is close, yet far enough away to afford you a restful environment. The pool area, including umbrellas and loungers, is available for your use many months of the year.
In and Around Pizzo: My apartment is situated just south of the town and is a short, 15-20 minute walk, or (5 minute by car) to the main 'Piazza', or city square. Pizzo has a classic southern Mediterranean climate with sunshine and warm weather April through October, where you will find the water and sky are clear and brilliant blue. There are many seasonal festivals, local artists, produce vendors and weekly markets, where you can purchase anything from chestnuts to canaries! The locals are very friendly and will help those of you who are practicing your language skills. Pizzo and the surrounding towns have much to offer for all tastes. You may choose to wander the many winding streets of Pizzo, mingle with the locals where they gather in the Piazza for a refreshment, to people watch, and socialize. You may also choose to go sunbathing, or swimming in one of the local beaches, boating, touring to view the active volcano Stromboli, or take a day trip to one of the multitude of historic sites in the surrounding Hill-Top towns.

Wir waren über Ostern in Pizzo und haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Vor Ort wurden wir von dem sehr netten Besitzerehepaar, welches gerade in Italien war, herzlich empfangen. Die Organisation und der Kontakt im Rahmen der Buchung waren ebenfalls sehr angenehm. Wir haben die Wohnung genau so vorgefunden, wie sie auf den Fotos beschrieben war. Optimal ist die Wohnung mit 2 Erwachsenen und 2 Kindern belegt. Dann hat man in der Wohnung auch an kühlen Tagen ausreichend Platz und Sitzmöglichkeit und die Küche reicht ebenfalls aus. Zweckmäßiges Geschirr war vorhanden. Lediglich mit der "Kaffeemaschine"- Espressokännchen kann es etwas eng werden, da man nie mehr als 2 Tassen kochen kann. Das Bad, welches auf den Fotos nicht zu sehen ist, bietet ebenfalls ausreichend Platz, jedenfalls völlig ausreichend für eine Ferienwohnung. Die gesamte Wohnung ist geräumig. Die Betten sehr sauber und die Matratzen neu und super bequem. Der große Ferseher hat allerdings nur engl. und ital. Programme. Von der Dachterrasse aus hat man einen sehr schönen Blick auf das Meer, hier kann man auch nur sagen- die Fotos entsprechen der Realität. Die Häuserreihen davor stören den Blick auf das Meer nicht, da die Wohnanlage am Hang liegt. Wie die Wohnsituation im Sommer bei voller Belegung ist, können wir nicht sagen, in unserer Reisezeit waren 95 % der Wohnungen nicht belegt, somit war es natürlich sehr ruhig. Die Straße und der ab und zu vorbeifahrende Zug haben uns nicht gestört. In Pizzo und der Umgebung hat man natürlich auch gemerkt, dass keine Hauptreisezeit war, denn viele Lokale, Geschäfte und Möglichkeiten, z.B. eine Bootstour nach Stromboli , werden nur in der Sommerzeit angeboten. Den Pool empfanden wir als recht groß, sodass auch in der Badesaison ausreichend Platz sein dürfte. Parken war auch überhaupt kein Problem, ausreichend Parkplätze vor den einzelnen Wohnungen waren vorhanden. Die gesamte Anlage erschien sehr sauber. Wir hatten zufällig Kontakt mit dem Verwalter, welcher auch sehr nett und engagiert erschien. Alles in allem eine schöne Wohnung mit gutem Preis-Leistungsverhältnis für Italien. About the owner: I especially love Pizzo because of the sea view, mountains, and its small town atmosphere, which reminds me a little bit of where I was born and raised. I work as a Registered Nurse and always dreamed of living in Italy, and now I am able to do this part time. I believe you can do what ever you really want to do if you set your mind to it.
Why the Owner Chose Pizzo:
My Italian apartment is in Calabria and is nestled between a mountain to the east, and the Sea to the west. Both very important to me. The property is in southern Italy, still very traditional in it's old Italian ways. Very little English is spoken here. There is a local farmers market, bakery, butchers and small grocers. The people believe in family and tell me even a pizza is made for you with love.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
We have a car and take frequent day trips. We have especially enjoyed Serra San Brunno, where we saw Te Pope. We have been to the Sila Mountains to a mushroom festival, to Paola to a chocolate festival, to Sicily several times, to Semanara where we viewed a famous Black Madonna, to Reggio Calabria to view the Riacci Bronzes. And many more... Learning Italian, Mediterranean Diet, LoVe, Sun........Sun............
