My husband and I stayed @ the Saltmarsh home and fell in love with the view. It was tucked away from all the hectic tourist areas but still close enough to enjoy a night out. We were close enough to make day trips to Cedar Island, Altantic Beach, & Shackleford island. The best part of staying @ Saltmarsh was watching the wildlife and enjoying coffee on the front porch. A great place for a small family to spend quality time together enjoying nature. We will be back.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.

Excellent accommodations! We have enjoyed our stay here in the Fall 2 years in a row and find Donna to be a great host and the cottage to be in a beautiful location with fantastic water views. The sunset is absolutely gorgeous from the porch, or the dock. This cottage is ideal if you are a fisherman or boater as there is easy access to Cape Lookout, Beaufort, Morehead City and more. This is a great place for Kayakers to explore the Core Sound and North River, with easy and protected access right in front of the house. The cottage and the grounds are well maintained and the interior is very clean and comfortable. (we saw no evidence of items mentioned in the prior post). The 2 bedrooms, 1 bath provide ample space for 4 and there is room in the living room for another adult on the couch if needed. The appliances and cookware are above average of most rentals, along with the items provided in terms of linens, and other necessities. You truly only need to pack your clothes and pick up some groceries on your way to the cottage and you are set for a great stay. Donna and Bill, Thank you for a wonderful stay. We look forward to staying with you again soon. DerekDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

The area is great for a family and this house is too. We have only great memories of the area and facilities. Unfortunately, as of 7/26/2010 the house has a ROACH problem, so before you book be sure to have the owner prove that the issue has been corrected. Otherwise, you may find yourself chasing down the little suckers the same way we did.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/3

Just got back from Harker's Island - first trip there. We stayed at this place for 3 nights. They call it the Salt Marsh. If I could describe it in one word I would say it was PERFECT. A great place for a small family or maybe a couple (or 2!) wanting to get away to a quiet place for some great fishing. There is a public boat ramp just a stone's throw away, and a place to dock your boat on the premises. We will definitely go back there and highly recommend it.Did you find this review helpful? Dan and I have just returned to Florida. Following our wonderful, relaxing and fun time in this beautiful cottage, during the Tall Ships event in Beaufort. You will not be disappointed, the Salt Marsh Cottage is lovely, clean and well furnished. I would not hesitate recommending a vacation in this lovely setting.
