Beach Haven house description
Hurricane Sandy damage was all external; no flooding. Repairs are done and 2013 vacationers are already enjoying our home again. Sandy leveled the dunes but with the help of neighbors, our re-bulldozed dunes are planted with grass unlike most of the island.
Cozy Cottage is right on the beach, near the lifeguard stand. The surfing beach is nearby. There is room to park 2 cars. There are four decks and the ocean can be seem from the living room. There is a brick patio in the back with a table and chairs, in the shade of the pine trees. The house is set back, away from the street, allowing more privacy.
There are windows on all sides, encouraging breezes to keep you cool. There are ceiling fans in most rooms. Two of the bedrooms are on the first floor, the other 3 are upstairs. There is a family room on the second floor, with a door to small deck and access to stairs to a roof deck. We rent Friday to Friday, so you can have a full weekend to enjoy, and share with your friends, if you are so inclined.

- Oceanfront of course but you could not be closer to the Thundering Surf water-park, shopping at Bay Village and Schooner's Wharf in Beach Haven. Fantasy Island Amusement Park is an additional 1 block away on the Boulevard. Surflight Theater, LBI Museum, Maritime Museum are more like ten blocks away if that is your speed. Supermarket, Night Clubs and the Black Whale are also ten blocks away. ...moreless

Good, but not great
Good, but not great
Location is great!, house is OK.Ceilings are low, my husband is 6"3", and had to put a chair in the middle of the main room to remind him not to walk there because the ceilings, with the ceiling fans, would give him a hematoma every time he walked through. There is no " master suite", any of the queen bedrooms had to share a bathroom. House is not Reverse living, so you can't really see theocean from the first floor. Deck is ok, but cant see the beach form the deck, only the ocean many miles out and very small There is no area from the upstairs deck to see the beach unless you stand up. Awkward. They try but we definitely do not think it's worth the $7000. our opinion. wont be seeing us next year. We've been renting on LBI for 20 years, and have definitely rented better, for less.

Owner response: The ceilings are 7 feet 3 inches tall on the first floor; standard for 1960's construction. When we renovated in 2008 we would have loved to have raised them but the town would not let us. There are limits to what you can do to an existing oceanfront home, even more limits on us since our house is closer to the ocean than any of our neighbors. Ceiling fans provide comfort that most renters appreciate. Ceilings are higher on 2nd floor. We do not claim that there is a master suite nor is it implied anywhere on the site. Nor do we claim this to be reverse living. A quick look at the pictures shows living, dining, kitchen all on first floor. But much of the ocean can be seen from first floor. Old deck was washed away by Sandy. The town bulldozed up new dunes that are a bit closer to the house and the brand new deck, therefore harder to see all of dry beach area. But plenty of ocean can be seen from first floor. The sitting area in the dunes was where the best views were. Look for that to return eventually. It is true you can't see the ocean from the rooftop deck unless you stand up. If you could see it sitting down…there would be no railing…not legal. Pictures clearly show house from oceanside and no rooftop deck is visible. The rooftop deck faces west - think sunsets! See pictures on the site and read the captions! It's pretty clear what we are offering.
My sister,my daughter and I spent a long weekend is this beautiful home in October. This home has a beautiful granite & stainless kitchen(very well equipped), a gas fireplace in the living room, each bedroom is very spacious and includes the thoughful addition of chairs in each room(a rocker in the room with the crib), the bathrooms are spacious and beautifully done (all three! and 1/2!) . We walked everywhere without difficulty, to Bay Village, the pharmacy, the grocery store and many other unique shops in the area. The property is meticulosly cared for and, was very welcoming. We plan to return ....soon!

A fantastic location that was enjoyed by all members of our family. Perfect for kids as the walk to the beach is only steps away. The owners were terrific and reacted quickly to any problems. We would definetily love to stay at this house again next year. Thanks for a great vacation

Owner response: You are welcome Dotti! Glad that you, kids, and grandchildren enjoyed it. We want to work with you to have you back next year. And so funny that you are related to Mike! What a coincidence. We asked the cleaning crew to hopefully NOT leave the refrigerator open the whole time they clean it so it will cool down more quickly for incoming vacationers!

Cozy - Yes and close to town
We have visited several times, we especially enjoy the sitting are in the dunes. Being so close to the beach we walk often, especially in the colder months. Bill runs on the beach every day he is here. We walk to town, we do enjoy shopping. The comfort and coziness of the home bring us back again and again. In the cool weather, the fireplace is most enjoyable.

Beautiful oceanfront home on the Jersey Shore. This home is outfitted with every amenity you can imagine. Three of the five bedrooms are oceanfront and have a view that allows you to watch the sunrise from the bed you sleep in. The home is immaculate and the open layout provides ample space for occupants to spread out and enjoy the setting. The ocean is footsteps away to allow for easy access to and from the beach. The location is great, with many things to walk to..shops, restaurants, Bay Village, etc. There are 3 decks that face the ocean, where you can enjoy your coffee, cocktails, conversation and relaxation. And, the owner is absolutely the best; gracious, available and extremely prompt. I would recommend this home to anybody who loves to go to the beach and likes to stay in a wonderful home! We will be back.

Year Purchased: 1974
About the owner: I am Laura Weber, I have enjoyed vacationing in this house with my family since 1974. My mother bought it at that time when my three children were small. The children grew up; now there are five grandchildren who also enjoy the house. In 2006 we decided to remodel and enlarge the house. This project took longer than anticipated, but we are thrilled with the results. We find the home very comfortable and have been enjoying it since September 2008. We now can use it year round, and we do.
Why the Owner Chose Beach Haven:
Our house is within a three hour drive from our home in North Jersey. The town is family friendly and there are activities for all ages. The views of the ocean are lovely and peaceful, and the beach is easily accessible. We enjoy bike riding and walking safely on the local streets.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We can enjoy views of the ocean from upstairs bedrooms(even sitting in bed) and the roof deck. We also especially enjoy watching waves, sunrise, surfers from our deck or living room.
