Location: Big Canoe, Northwest High Country, Georgia, USA (Just 1 Hour North of Atlanta)
Accommodations: Mountain Home, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths (Sleeps 8)
"Bird's Eye View" is situated at the very top of a mountain ridge in the gated mountain community of Big Canoe in the North Georgia Mountains. This beautiful 4,000 sq. ft. mountain home is on a private wooded lot with spectacular long-range views (from multiple rooms and decks) of the mountains and surrounding farmland.
The main level has a great room with vaulted ceiling, hardwood floors and a floor-to-ceiling stacked stone fireplace; a fully-equipped kitchen; a dining table that seats eight; a huge master bedroom suite with an additional bedroom with a queen-size bed; a full-bath; and a laundry room with washer and dryer.
Bird's Eye View is on a ridge, so there is almost always a breeze. If it gets too chilly, throw a couple of logs on the copper fire pit for warmth. The deck wraps around to the side screened porch which has another table for dining (also accessible from dining area) and a teak bar.
The view is also spectacular from the master suite. The master bedroom with a king-size bed has a sitting room with a stacked stone fireplace, an entire wall of windows, and a sliding glass door that opens onto the back deck. The master bath and office complete the master suite.
The terrace level has a billiards room with cedar walls, a full-sized pool table, and sliding glass doors that open onto a large deck with a six-person hot tub and a magnificent view. Also downstairs is a bedroom with a king-size bed (also with sliding glass doors onto deck) and a full bath.
The loft overlooks the great room and has twin beds, a TV with video and nintendo, and lots of toys for the little ones.
Speaking of little ones... Bird's Eye View is very family-friendly. We have a pack-n-play crib, a high chair and a booster seat (available upon request). We also have lots of videos, puzzles, and games for both children and adults.
If you should decide to venture outside the house, the resort community of Big Canoe has much to offer. In addition to 15 miles of hiking trails past beautiful waterfalls and nature trails (many very close to Bird's Eye View), Big Canoe offers 27 holes of lush greens surrounded by crystal lakes, towering trees and majestic mountains.
The Tennis Center offers courts both indoor and outdoor, and a state-of-the-art fitness center is complete with weight training, cardiovascular machines, racket ball, and an indoor lap pool. Massage therapy and day-spa amenities are available.
The Swim Club has activities for fun, exercise or just plain relaxation in the sun. A large pool and deck area have plenty of lounge chairs and tables located around the large pool (lifeguards on duty). The pool overlooks the beach and Lake Disharoon. The beach has volleyball nets, lounge chairs, paddleboats and canoes. A three-tiered rock slide is located off of Lake Disharoon inside the Swim Club area.
Lake Petit, the largest of 3 lakes in Big Canoe, covers over 113 acres. The lake is stocked annually with rainbow trout. Canoes, fishing boats, sail boats and pontoon boats are available for rent.
Things to do outside Big Canoe include: hiking at Amicalola Falls State Park and the Appalachian Trail, rafting, canoeing, horseback riding, biking, shopping at the North Georgia Premium Outlet Mall, and much more.
