Hidden away on the south coast Limón Province, Costa Rica, your home, "La Casa Caribe," awaits you. For the independent traveler, this is the ideal place to relax and enjoy nature in comfort. Nature is in our front yard. The howler monkeys will frequent the trees in the front of the house and you will have a private front row view to watch. Nearby attractions include three beautiful beaches within a short walk and Cahuita National Park within a 15 minute walk, and many local tours and places of interest to visit while enjoying a comfortable home-like atmosphere. Our house is very private and is located in a friendly safe neighborhood.
If you are looking for an all inclusive hand held vacation, this is not the place for you. If you are an adventurer and love to discover the local culture and get to know the people this is perfect.
The surrounding area is noted not only for the 2700-acre Cahuita National Park, but it is part of a magnificent eco-system ranging from the forests that meet the beaches that are surrounded by coral reefs off shore. Wildlife, such as monkeys, sloths, exotic marine life, and other rainforest species abound and finding something to do is never a difficult task. You can surf, fish, hike, snorkel, visit the local indigenous village, shop in the historic city of Limón, arrange a tour with one the locals, or simply relax on the local beaches.
The closest beach is a lovely, quiet slow paced 5 minute walk down a small lane away. Make sure you are looking around for wildlife as you stroll. The town and National Park are only a 15 minute stroll away. Most of the stroll is along the beach and coral reef. Our house is hooked up to the state water system that is very proud of the quality of their safe drinking water.

A Relaxing Vacation

My husband and I enjoyed 2 relaxing weeks at La Casa Caribe in Cahuita and it suited us perfectly. It is a very walkable distance to the beaches, the park and the town where we explored every street. Being able to sit outdoors on the porch in such a lush environment when it rains is a special treat. The howler monkeys performed right at daybreak of our first morning and also gave us a couple of entertaining shows in the trees during our stay. The property manager looked after us so well and stopped by each day to see if we needed anything and to answer our questions. A great spot for a laid back vacation.

The home was just as described and shown on the website. The front porch/patio is an awesome spot to sit out and relax and watch the holwer monkeys and various other wildlife. It sits apx. 15 minutes from the Cahuita National Park, a true treasure. One of few places where you can lie on the beach & watch monkeys playing in the trees. There are lots of options in the area of things to see & do or you can go out and lie on the beautiful beach all day. We saw monkeys, iguanas, snakes, birds, sloths & sharks. The locals are very friendly and speak enough English that you do not need to know Spanish to make your way around. Not a lot of tourists around, which was a big plus to me. A GREAT VACATION!

I stayed in Cahuita for a week in summer 2009. The house is well situated, roughly a block to Black Beach, which also has a very good restaurant. Walking into the center of Cahuita took about a 10 minutes and was an enjoyable daily experience, friendly residents, minimal traffic and plenty of beauty to take in. The house itself comfortably slept 6. A draw back was being kept up a night or two by the howler monkeys that were in the surrounding trees, but it provided me with amazing photos that I treasure. Laying in bed listening to the monkeys was one of the many reasons that I traveled to Costa Rica and certainly made the journey worthwhile.

This house was great, just what the owner said. Very clean and well kept. The woman that takes care of the place was very nice and checked on us every day. I would recommend this house and the town to anyone that wants a laid back vacation.
