Jane or Earl were wonderful hosts who made everyone feel so very welcome and a part of the bungalow family in this superb oasis. We met some great couples by the pool in the colorful courtyard and went on some interesting tours together. There were many excellent restaurants in the town and opportunities to hear some fine music. We had a most enjoyable 10 stay that was truly rich in culture, stories, laughter and caring. Muchas gracias, Jane and Earl.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

If you are looking for a truly Mexican experience, stay right in the heart of pueblo San Pancho at "Roberto's Bungalows". Of the 5 suites, we chose Roberto's unit with an indoor kitchen, beautiful private balcony that was perfect for lounging, enjoying our meals while observing and listening to the birds in the nearby trees, relaxing and reading our favorite books with the peaceful sounds of the courtyard fountain in the background.Did you find this review helpful? We loved this clean, well maintained property. Our room was perfect for lounging, practicing yoga, making smoothies and making ........ !!!! Earl and Jane were such great hosts that were planning our next trip to San Pancho again. The foliage and gardens that Earl so lovingly maintains are a perfect back drop for daydreaming and relaxing. The pool is the perfect temperature for those hot mexico afternoons. We'll be seeing you soon Earl and Jane, like this February!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

No better place to stay in San Pancho! This place is special and so are the people who own and run it. My stay was nothing but pure joy! The owners go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. They are warm and friendly and the place becomes home so quickly. The bungalows are adorable, with outdoor kitchen and living area. I love having a tree growing through my kitchen counter! The five bungalow courtyard is exquisitely landscaped.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We were so impressed with the cleanliness and beauty of the property. Our suite was perfect and the covered patio/kitchen/dining area was the best aspect although the room and bed were fine as well. My husband is an author and was able to write in this area where one is surrounded by well-tended, lush gardens and a swimming pool with waterfall. Jane and Earl are helpful and friendly but know the correct balance of engaging and respecting privacy. We will certainly return and highly recommend.Did you find this review helpful? After two weeks on the road in Mexico we pulled into San Pancho and were directed to Roberto's bungalows where we were instantly charmed by Jane's warm personality and the cleanliness and beauty of the property. Our suite was perfect and the covered patio/kitchen/dining area was the best. My husband is an author and was able to write in this area where one is surrounded by well-tended, lush gardens and a swimming pool with waterfall. Such a great find and incredible value. We will return.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

“First Honeymoonof many for Andrew & Margot !” Reviewed November 3, 2011 NEW Jane and Earl at Roberto's are fabulous hosts as they make you feel like you are their guests instead of paying visitors. Casita Azul was everything we needed; lovely outdoor but private kitchen/dining room - well stocked and with great colourfull benches with pillows to hang out. Extremely comfortable bed and clean bathroom. The Courtyard is full of greenery that provides shade and privacy and makes you feel as if you are out in the jungle. The fact that Roberto's is only a block away from the main street with its small stores and Mexican family restaurants (and some higher end restaurants) and only a few blocks away from the beach makes it a perfect location. We will be back for our next honeymoon (perhaps the real one this time.....) Room Tip: They are all good! See more room tips Stayed October 2011, traveled as a coupleDid you find this review helpful? “Clean as a whistle” Reviewed November 3, 2011 NEW Roberto's Bungalows has a cute inner courtyard with a small pool that is deep enough to be refreshing. One of the managers spends alot of time pruning, etc., and the foliage is very lush and beautiful. We enjoyed our stay there. I have rented houses in the Costa Azul area in the past, but wanted to try in town. An in town location makes more sense if you don't have a car or if you want to let your teens go out at night. The beach is nicer at the north end, though, (less rocks when you get out). This compund would be great if you could book all the bungalows for your group. FYI for the frugal traveler: the rate here was cheaper off-season ($65 a night) than Costa Azul ($100 a night) and you could do your own cooking. We only had one snafu with the maid and it was because of poor Spanish- and was cleared up right away. Room Tip: I would recommend booking Roberto's Bungalow if you plan to cook alot. The kitchen is interior, and the others are outside. Therefore, if you are there when it is EXTREMELY hot, you can cook in the a/c! There is also a greater sense of privacy.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

“WOW... Did not expect such quite and peace for so cheap” Reviewed June 30, 2011 We planned a vacation down there in hopes that we could just hide from the world for a few days. This was perfect. Everytime we had to walk the full 2 blocks to the beach, it was empty and we were the only ones there. All of the local restaraunts are fabulous for so cheap. We ate Tacos all week for a 80 cents each. The locals are all so nice and just love to talk. The people that run the bungalows made us feel like family. It was really nice to be able to talk to them just like they were my mom or dad or brother or sister. We asked them were to eat and what to see and they told us everything we needed to know. Real nice folks. It is an awesome oasis in the midst of small town feel. We made our reservations for this winter when we left. Room Tip: peace and quite and not bugged by chicklet sellersDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

“A Slice of Paradise” Reviewed July 8, 2011 NEW My wife and I pride ourselves on finding towns and places to stay that are a bit off the map-- where we can feel less like tourists and more like visitors-- somewhere where we can experience a place's culture and get a sense of what it is like to live there. San Pancho is the perfect example of such a place and Roberto's Bungalows is THE place to stay when visiting! Does strolling down SAFE, QUIET cobblestone streets filled with with roosters, kids, little dogs, fish taco vendors, fallen mangoes, and real homegrown townspeople sound good to you?, How about laying out on a AMAZING white sand beach with no competition for space and NO HASSLE from annoying vendors? If so San Pancho is the place for you! Does being only two blocks from the beach and a half block from the main "road" in town sound good? how about escaping the late day sun to an incredibly peaceful semi-private courtyard with a refreshing pool (its bigger than it seems in the pictures, has a deep end and everything) lined by tropical flowers and plants? What about having all this for a fraction of what you will pay at a mega resort in PV? Then Roberto's is the place to stay. Oh, and on top of all that Jane and Earl are the BEST hosts-- so warm and welcoming, will help you navigate the town and the environs and will provide you with great stories and conversation if you want as well. It was like a home away from home. Thank you Jane and Earl!!!!! P.S. San Pancho is SAFE SAFE SAFE. my wife and i were a bit hesitant to travel to Mexico given all the bad press but were so happy to find that San Pancho is a sleepy little village and we felt extremely safe there- on the beach, walking around at night, etc. it is small enough that after just a few days you will recognize townspeople and vice-versa. Don't let the bad press that has nothing to do with this area stop you from visiting San Pancho! Room Tip: We checked out all 5 rooms and they are all great and are fully stocked. Roberto's is the biggest and most private.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

“Our second time back was just as great as our first stay!” Reviewed June 22, 2011 Roberto's Bungalows is our "must stay" place in San Pancho, Mexico. You are greeted like a long, lost family member but treated as a guest. The caretakers are wonderfully accommodating and happy to answer any questions or provide suggestions of things to do around town. Yet, they blend into the background to allow you to enjoy your small but sufficient (air conditioned) room and private, beautiful open air patio and kitchen. The open air patio is perfect for playing cards, reading, enjoying cocktails, and napping. The kitchen is perfectly equipped to allow you to cook for yourself (the market is conveniently located just a few doors down.) And, amazingly, the private pool stays just the right temperature of cool to allow for a refreshing dip. Robertos Bungalows feels like a tropical, refreshing oasis in sleepy San Pancho. I cannot recommend this place enough to friends and family! Room Tip: Bungalow Verde-2nd floor and shower w/ big windowDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

My husband & I just stayed for a week at Roberto's bungalows in San Pancho. We stayed in the Red Bungalow which was well appointed and beautifully landscaped and steps from the pool (not heated). The bed was firm, but comfortable. The small outdoor kitchen had everything we needed. San Pancho is a small very friendly town with the beach 2 blocks away. There was some construction going on next door that began @ 8am and continued until 5pm. Luckily we rented a car and we able to get away from the hammering and drive to some nearby beaches that were off the beaten path. Steve was a wonderful host who was very helpful with restaurant recommendations and tips for local sightseeing. We would come back again for sure !Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Let me first say Steve and Dianne are great host. I usually travel to PV this time of year but I really wanted to go somewhere more peaceful. I have been to Sayulita a few times and herd from other travelers that San Pancho was alot quieter and a little more low key so I decided to stay at Robertos and it was perfect. I don't think I have ever had such a relaxing trip. I was just minutes walking from anything I needed from the store right down the street to all of the restaurants and the beach was just a five minute walk. The rooms are clean the pool is awesome. I will be back with my wife in January.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Roberto's bungalows is a great place to stay while in San Pancho. The rooms are great, the pool and courtyard are amazing and relaxing. We loved having the living room and kitchen be outdoors, with a fan and lights, and was our favorite hangout spots. The location is fantastic, you're close to everything the town has to offer. The owners of this place, Steve and Dianne, couldn't be nicer or more accomodating, we even enjoyed some drinks while watching the sunset beachside with them. San Pancho is the perfect place to go and get away from it all, the food is amazing, form high end to street food. Favorite restaurants are La Ola Rica, get the coconut shrimp and any of the fish they cook in the wood fired over; San Panco Cafe, best chili relleno I've ever had. Do not hesitate to grab food from street vendors, it's some of the tastiest, and cheapest food you'll eat, Rico's Tacos are great on the main blvd, 2 people can get stuffed with delicious tacos and quesedillas for 7 dollars. This is our 2nd visit to san pancho and definitely not the last.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

During a recent trip to Nuevo Vallarta, my wife and I took an unexpected side trip to San Pancho and literally stumbled upon Roberto's Bungalow's. We booked no prior reservations, and though they don't typically have guests who stay for only one night, Steve gladly welcomed us. The rooms were clean, quaint, and adequately appointed – not overly lavish, but nice and very functional. They provide the comfort of home while still preserving an authentic feel of being in a small Mexican coastal town. The courtyard area between the main house, where you check in, and the rooms is lush, well maintained, and contains an inviting pool. Each room comes with an outdoor sitting area with a studio/mini kitchen. Though we did not use the kitchen, I imagine it would have proven well suited for light cooking such as basic breakfast or lunch. The location of Roberto’s is great – right in the center of town and only two blocks from the beach. Above all, Steve proved to be a wonderful host. He immediately made us feel right at home, there are only 4 rooms so it’s cozy, and his recommendations were always spot on. Steve suggested Mar Plata for dinner, and it proved to be one of the best meals we had during our trip. My wife and I enjoyed Nuevo Vallarta, but we both agreed that we wished we could have spent more time in San Pancho, and I would have been more than comfortable staying at Roberto’s for the week. The accommodations are nice and the hosts are even better.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My girlfriend and i were searching around the internet and e mailed several bungalows in the San Pancho area. We were really fond of Roberto's Bungalow's and even more fond when Steve and Diana called us within probably 2 hrs. of us sending our e mail. Upon this we decided to book with them and stay there. The two of them were both very accommodating, and we gave them half of our weeks rent through a credit card. Upon arriving we gave them the other half and Diana showed us to our bungalow. The bungalows themselves are very quaint and beautiful. We enjoyed the attention to detail they had spent on building the place. We stayed in the red room and we loved the red theme of it. The bedding, chairs, table's and even some select tiles in the floor were all red to go with the theme. The court yard is very lush with vegetation and has a small pool and a few chairs for relaxing. The beach itself is a short enjoyable walk from the bungalow. The beach is large in scale and we found ourselves on our beach blanket with no one around us for at least a hundred yards. You can enjoy large lime margarita's on the beach while watching the lovely sunsets. You should check out Ola rica restaurant for a delicious dinner that will cost you around 50 US$ lf you like to surf you should definitely check out Sayulita that's about a five minute cab ride from San Pancho. lt will cost you around 80 pesos. We really enjoyed our vacation time spent their and would recommend it to people of all ages looking for an authentic mexican getaway.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We went there for our honeymoon and it was amazing. It was a quieter town, without all the usual touristy sidwalks, so it is easy to find what you need, and have the peace and quiet of a secluded area. Everyone is friendly, and most of the people speak some english. The hosts at the hotel were kind, friendly, and tried to make our stay the best possible. We stayed in Roberto's bungalow, which is the largest, and it was cool in the heat, and had a nice view overall. The pool was surrounded by beautiful greenery and flowers and we felt secure and happy to be not only in this small town but at Roberto's Bungalows. It was also nice because even if you were to get lost, all you had to ask was where Steven and Diane live (the hosts) or where Roberto's Bungalows was and directions were given. Everyone seems to know everyone. Now besides the amazingly beautiful bungalows, and the kind and friendly hosts (who are more than willing to help you in any way they can), the bungalows are two blocks from the ocean, so after stopping by the store or the beach bar, you can go play in the water or sit and watch the gorgeous sunsets of either golden or brillant red/purple. It was also fun to go in July because not only were the many types of crabs coming up to land to mate, but there was the opportunity to help collect sea turtle eggs each night. There was a nightlife to and a wonderful karoke bar. Overall, San Pancho is a wonderful experience and im sooo glad we chose it for ur honeymoon, since we wanted a place we could relax, be "honeymooners", yet enjoy scenery, take lots of cool pictures, and do touristy stuff (it was nice we could take a 20 minute bus ride and be in 2 different busy beaches, but then go back home to a quieter area, yet know the food is delicious and healthy either place and we could go fishing, or horseback riding in San Pancho).Did you find this review helpful?
