Weekend Bachelor Fishing Getaway

The "Log cabin on the lake" was a nice and relaxing. We had about 10 men that stayed a three day weekend. The property was very spacious. There was plenty of room for parking, room for our boats/trailers, the boat ramp was easily accessible on the property, the cabin fit the needs of our party just fine and the boat dock/pier was excellent. Our party did some crappie fishing from the dock, which is covered with a fish cleaning station. The water was fairly deep and the fishing was great. We caught over 50 crappie, some weighing over a pound. The location has great access to Toledo Bend and excellent fishing in close proximity. All the men in the party were very satisfied with the rental. I can't speak much too the furniture, but, the showers and bathrooms were very functional. We all had a very nice time and would love to return for another weekend.

O.K. fishing cabin

Quaint fishing cabin, but it's a bit of an exaggeration to say that it sleeps 10 to 11 people. It sleeps 6 comfortably in its bedrooms. The cabin additionally provides two cots and one queen-sized blow-up mattress, which one of the cots and the mattress needs replacing. I have to agree with an earlier reviewer about the kitchen: technically it's furnished, but an inventory needs to be done and the worn out, rusted cookware needs to be replaced. The only telephone numbers posted in the cabin were for the cleaning staff and the local dump. No emergency numbers or owners' contact info posted. Couldn't find an area telephone book. My biggest complaint besides the cabin's overall cleanliness, which I personally spoke to the owner about, is the garbage disposal. A large group + a long stay = mountains of garbage. All that's provided is one kitchen garbage can, no outdoor receptacles.

I would really like to thank the owner very much for the cabin. My family and I had a wonderful time, that will be a life time of memories. The cabin was clean and well maintained, the photo accurately reflect the rental's appearance. I would recommend the property to friends and relative. As a matter of fact I would love to make this a yearly vacation trip. We had such a great time. For me this was one of my dreams that came true. Thank you very much. My family rented the "cabin on the lake" and this was one of the best "mini" vacations we have ever shared. The children were able to fish from the boat dock, (and caught fish), while the adults enjoyed the beautiful sunset from the pier.The ducks and geese running around the yard was a great joy for all as well. The cabin is beautiful and the accommodations were excellant. We will plan another trip to the "cabin" again in the near future.

Misleading

These pictures appear to have been taken some time ago. The house's appearance in person is much older and worn that the pictures provided in this ad. None of the doors shut properly, including the screen doors that are in need of replacing. The banisters are a liabilty to say the least. They are in need of serious attention. Do not lean on them. The house furniture is old and dingy, some pieces are torn and ripped and to be honest it just felt dirty. The kitchen is furnished but everything needs replacing as far at the pans, pots, and cookie sheets. The refrigerator was out so we spent 24 hours using the coolers we brought. The house is unlevel. The yard is fenced however that fencing area has 3 other cabins that are included so the yard was not a privately fenced off yard. For the money that was asked from us we just expected more. The property owner did not furnish toilet tissue, paper towels, garbage bags etc. We were required to haul the garbage to town wherever that is so we just hauled it back home. It took 24 hours for the air conditioner to cool the house off. There is a boat shed/house which was nice however the area to clean the fish was without water. The pipes were capped off, busted etc. The fishing was great under the Pendleton Bridge (Texas Side).

Owner response:Thank you for your review. We replaced the refrigerator on the Monday of your departure. Unfortunately, that was the quickest we could get it done since your stay was over a weekend. We serviced the air conditioner and have hired a repairman to fortify the banisters, walkways, and complete repairs to the cleaning station pipes. It is valuable input from our guests that help us maintain the property in good condition. Please visit us again soon.

Ideal location,great for fisherman who like to haul their boats to different areas of lake.Wonderful peir and boat dock for night fishing.Description of area and amenities were accurate.I would recommend this property and would rent again.
