Our comfortable apartment was completed in January 2008. It is south facing with amazing views of the magnificent Breithorn to the South and the stunning Staubbach waterfall to the West with spring lambs skipping in the fields below. The apartment is on the first floor of the building and incorporates 2 good sized bedrooms 1 twin and 1 double. a spacious bathroom with bath and shower. Light and modern kitchen. With granite worktops. Underfloor heating. We live locally and are able to provide personal attention for our guests. The adjoining apartment accommodates 6 persons and if available the 2 properties can be let together. Heated ski and boot storage is also a bonus as a heated area for prams. Nearby bus connections to the Schilthorn Cableway and main stations, small local shops which are open also on Sundays. A fantastic central location for summer and winter walking and a variety of sports.
Central location for the Jungfrau ski area: Muerren hosts steep, in places difficult terrain and is reached by the Schilthorn Cableway or Muerren Grutschalp cable-car.Wengen, and Kleine Scheidegg have gentler pistes with the exception of the Lauberhorn racing Piste. Grindelwald is also accessible from Lauterbrunnen, or over Scheidegg when conditions are good one can ski down to Grund at the bottom of the Mannlichen Cableway. There is a regular bus service 50m away from the apartment which services all stations. We live a mere 2 minutes walk from the apartment and are on hand in case of emergency.

As the alpine ski season ends for us we are already planning a return trip to the spectacular Lauterbrunnen valley for our 5th Christmas holiday in this well appointed apartment. We have now spent 9 weeks skiing in this region staying in this beautifully maintained and clean apartment. We have not been disappointed or bored with the skiing, the area is well easily accessed with the precisely timed trains and lifts. A very short walk from the apartment is the bus stop taking you to the lift system up to Wengen in one direction or Murren in the other. Each visit we have found something new, this year we were lucky enough to see the swiss ski team training on the famous Lauberhorn, and even shared a chairlift back up the mountain with them. We can highly recommend the early morning cable car for breakfast in the Shilthorn restaurant, followed by the exhilarating black run down into Murren, and the cosy Pension Gimmelwald. The apartment itself is spacious and easily accommodates us and our 2 growing boys. There is a boiler room on the ground floor for ski and boot storage, with room to service skis. The kitchen and eating area is well equipped enough to be able to produce food for a hungry family after a hard days skiing, and prepare a Christmas meal! The kitchen and living area is open plan and has plenty of room to relax but still be sociable. The balcony has stunning views up this dramatic valley, each year we have seen different amounts of water flowing or avalanching down the vertical cliffs that make this valley so spectacular. Over the years Katherine has managed to accommodate all our needs making this a truly magical place for a holiday that we can highly recommend.Did you find this review helpful? We spent a wonderful week in Lauterbrunnen in June, and can’t wait to return at Christmas. Lauterbrunnen is a perfect location for beautiful walks from the nearby villages Murren and Wengen (great wildflowers in June). The pleasant walk (part of it is uphill) from the apartment to the train station takes 15-20 min, alternatively there is a regular post bus stop near the house going to both the train and cable car stations. For essentials, there is a convenient small shop in the Jungfrau campsite which is a 5 minute walk away (the restaurant there also serves a good Rosti at a reasonable price!) There is a very good (air conditioned!), well-stocked Co-op supermarket in the main village opposite the station. The apartment is exactly as described, it is spacious, nicely decorated, clean and well equipped. The balcony has a fantastic view down the valley of the mountains and waterfalls. We highly recommend the apartment and are looking forward to coming back.Owner response: Dear Nicola, Thankyou so much for taking the time to review our lovely holiday home here in the valley of the waterfalls, We are delighted that you had such a great time, and will ensure your Christmas break will be just as enjoyable, I do hope that we can welcome you back next summer for a walking break too, Best regards, Kathryn Berger

For the third year in a row, we've spend our summer holiday in the Jungfrau region. Since 2 years we even come back in winter for skiing. In this beautiful and amazing area lies a hidden gem: Lauterbrunnen. Kath, as you know, Lauterbrunnen has stolen our heart. No doubt there's no better place to enjoy the breathtaking view of Lauterbrunnen Valley than in your apartment. We had an absolutely wonderful and splendid time. The apartment itself is a quiet and serene place to relax in luxury. We loved the space and freedom in the spotless and charming apartment. It's a place were you want to stay forever. Everything you need is provided by Kath. From towels to books, films and even toys for the children. From dishwasher to washing machine and trumble dryer. Even sunclasses for the kids were present. The bath and beds are very comfortable after a day of walking in the mountains. All the furniture, kitchen and kitchenfacilities, bathroom, ... are of the highest quality. In short, we highly recommend this spacious apartment to all our friends and family, as we are sure, there isn't a better place to spend your holiday in the mountains. Kath, many thanks for all the good caring and we hope we can come back for many years.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We just got back from five nights in this lovely villa and we cannot say enough. It was new, clean, and beautifully furnished. The best part was its central location. The lighted waterfall from our bedroom window was just beautiful. We could easily walk to Lauterbrunnen center where the train and tram made it simple to get to Wengen, Interlaken, Grindewald, Murren, etc. We had a fabulous time with our family during our stay and this aprtment was fantastic!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, sightseeing.

A fantastic apartment in a fantastic valley setting with amazing mountain scenery.........and importantly a phenomenal ski experience. The apartment was immaculately presented with a welcome pack on arrival; which was much appreciated after a long drive from northern England. It proved to be very comfortable for a family and welcoming all week after days of hard skiing in the Wengen, Grindelwald and Murren ski areas. All the mountain uplifts are easily accessable by post bus from an adjacent stop and the village is a pleasant 10 minute walk along the river to ease those tight muscles. All in all, we had a fantastic holiday that exceeded our expectations.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at this apartment The apartment is wonderful, when we first saw the view from the very large balcony it took our breath away. The apartment was far bigger than we thought, and the pictures and info were spot on. The two daybeds in the sittingroom are very comfortable to sit on and after a hards days walking it was bliss to lie on them and see that magical view through the windows. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals with and was very well equipped . Kathryn showed us round the apartment when we we arrived and explained how everything worked and visited us once during our stay to check we were okay which was nice.I cant praise this apartment highly enough ,we have stayed in many apartments and this was by far the best It was spotless, the furnishings and fittings were of high quality, and had been chosen with care and flair and had everything a couple or a family would need. In fact we hope to return next year.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

The description of the property and the photos were not only accurate they were helpful. The apartment was beautifully clean and well appointed. The furniture is lovely and there is lots of wardrobe and storage space. Plenty of bedding, linen, crockery and cutlery. All the appliances are brand new, washer, dryer, a very nice touch. The owner was there to greet us as we got off the bus and checked through the holiday that all was well without being intrusive. The views from each window are stunning - the waterfalls were just begining to thaw while we were there. The scenery changed every day. We lunched on the balcony looking down towards Steckleberg. The Swiss pass purchased prior to the trip was excellent as this enabled us to travel a good deal either free of charge or half price. The transport system makes it very easy to get around and see the area. There are lots of information brochures in the apartment which help you to plan your holiday. Murren was terrific, there is a guided walk on Monday evenings free of charge which is very interesting. The 007 champagne breakfast at the Schiltorn was fantastic. The cable cars and funiculars ensure that the views are over whelming. The apartment ensured that at the end of the very busy days we had a lovely place to clean up, cook a nice meal and sleep comfortably. In short this was probably the best holiday I have ever had! I can not recommend this place highly enough. This was a day holiday though not a night holiday - we were too tired!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Staying in this beautiful apartment in Lauterbrunnen just before Christmas 2008 was the highlight of our European trip. We felt so at home and welcome. Kathryn ensured that we had all that we needed and was always willing to asssist in any way she could.. We were lucky enough to have amazing snowfalls and therefore brilliant skiing/boarding.The actual journey to the slopes via bus/cable car/train was just part of the adventure due to the spectacular scenery. A truly magical place that we will definitely return to.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I spent the week of Christmas 2008 in this wonderful and spacious apartment. It was only the two of us, but there was space for at least 6 people. All appliances were brand new and we appreciated the washer and dryer. The kitchen was well stocked and we ate most meals at the apartment. The surrounding area was amazing. From the bedroom window, you could view one of the highest waterfalls in the world (a local told us it was number 12 or 13) and we were walking distance to the town of Lauterbrunnen where the train system was extremely easy to explore the surrounding towns and ski stations. We did not have a car (and we glad we did not have one). Take advantage of the train system and cable cars. The area is an outdoor paradise! Our week in Lauterbrunnen was one of the best and take advantage of this apartment.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We've just come back from a lovely New Year's break in Lauterbrunnen, staying in this property. There were 4 of us with 2 babies and the accommodation was perfect - warm, spacious, clean, well-equiped and in a stunning location within easy walking distance of Lauterbrunnen centre. Just be aware that getting to the slopes requires a walk and cable-car/train ride so we didn't get in quite as much boarding as we'd have liked; but without babies it would have been easy enough. Kath, the owner, was very helpful and accommodating even providing a few nappies as well as cots and highchairs! All in all, we had a fabulous time and would recommend this property.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
