We stayed at this property for a family vacation in March of 2013. The house is set back a good ways from the main thoroughfare, so you should be prepared to go through some winding back roads, past a good bit of farm land (not pretty), to get to it. The final lane is a small road past a couple of other properties which were a little too close for comfort. We had inquired about distance to other houses as we wanted a quiet place in the country and the listing seemed to imply that was the case. There are some nearby dogs, however, that bark and can be heard at the house. And the property is much closer to the neighbors than we realized. To that end, I should also mention that the home really has no curtains/blinds. It makes for great views, but it was a bit uncomfortable for us considering the master bedroom and bath face the driveway. When the kids were outside (or if anyone had driven up), they could see directly into the master bath, so if you wanted a mid-day shower, you had to use another bathroom in the house. There are plenty, but it would have been nice to simply draw some curtains or blinds. That said, the house has amazing views of the mountains and houses in the distance which made it picturesque. You can sit on the deck and watch the sun/moon rise if you like, which is quite enjoyable. The house is well apointed with quality furniture and linens, which we expected and appreciated. It was obvious a great deal of time, planning and money were spent on the house and all the details/extras that were in place. The children were disappointed that neither of the two televisions downstairs worked as they had claimed that area as the "kid zone." When I checked with the owner, they simply advised us to move a cable box from upstairs, which we did not feel comfortable doing. We thought they should have had the all electronics properly working (we also could not get the DVD player to work) before we arrived or come to the property to take care of this for us, but they stated they did not want to travel in the weather (a light snow) which we thought odd as living in the area they presumably had a vehicle equipped for mountain roads and snow as we were simply visiting and had taken those precautions. I should also mention the Wi-Fi amenity is a bit deceptive as there is a note upon arrival about limiting use, so the children were not able to use their ipad/iphone for games and movies at night (which would not have been an issue but for the tvs and DVD player)Owner response: Wow, we have never had anyone that was not happy with the house. I'm sorry that everything was not as you hoped or expected. The road to the house runs along a beautiful river and picturesque mountain land. Everyone that has ever stayed at the house agrees that is a very scenic drive. You will not find a easier access to a mountain home with our views anywhere in our area. As far as the TVs we have 5 set up in the house, I had moved the box out of another room for the previous guests . The light snow that you are talking about at our house was about 6-8 inches at the house I live in as it is at 4000 ft. elevation. That is why I suggested that you simply un hook one of the boxes that you were not using and hook it up to the TV in the lower level bedroom. Or since there were only 4 people in your group , if you didn’t want to move the box, the kids could take a bedroom that was not being used and had a TV.

We just returned from our trip to NC, as I reflect on the trip, I can't keep thinking of this amazing home, the owners thought of everything in this house, our ONLY regret is that we did not take advantage of just relaxing more in the house then we did. Each night we made a fire outdoors and the setting was beyond magnificant, every detail of the house was more luxurious then the pictures show.. The bose stereo system all through the house and outside was another bonus to this upscale house. The Viking stove, the bar upstairs, the bedrooms, (each one having a TV) the master has a fireplace were first class...we are already planning our next trip to the house. The town is adorable, with ALL the great convenience stores you need. Asheville is only 40 min. away.... But MORE IMPORTANTLY,this house IS a little bit of heaven. We watched the sun go down on the porch in the rocking chairs, and had coffee in the morning watching the "smokey" fog fade away. The views were magnificant, we were amazed. If you are going to entertain, this house has everything you need, the downstairs pool table goes out to ANOTHER deck, and the outdoor stove (grill) was gorgeous, Like I said the owmers spared no expense on this house. If I had one complaint, that would be we had to leave.... We can't wait to go back and bring more friends to help us enjoy this house again. Thank you Scot and Heather for sharing your home with us, we appreciate it, we look forward to returning in the very near future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Every year our family travels to NC for a family vacation, both my husband's family and mine. Needless to say, finding a space to accommodate a large group (10-12) and accommodate the taste of so many people has been challenging. But this house made it easy, from the moment we drove up the private drive, and stepped into this home, we knew we had found something very special. The home is beautifully laid out and designed, comfortable and welcomining. It was clean and well maintained. The owners took care to stop the home with soap, tp, papertowels etc. Every morning we would wake early just to see the fog sitting below the deck roll out, revealing the grandness of the mountains in the distance. Truly a million dollar view! We would recommended this home to anyone looking for a relaxing family vacation or a romantic getaway. The nearby towns offers much hiking, riding, shopping, wine tasting, truly a wonderful place to visit. The Healy Family NYC & PADid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a family get together at this house for a long weekend. The deck and views from sitting in the chairs, or eating at the tables was beautiful! We had lots of room and enjoyed the setting. The house, deck, and grounds are wonderful......the pictures on the website can't adequately show the beauty of this place.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Our family of 6 and our best friends' family stayed at this amazing cabin during our spring break. When we drove up to this beautiful cabin, we knew we'd found a gem. We needed a place big enough for everyone to have their own space, yet there was plenty of room for everyone to eat together, play games and enjoy the huge wrap around deck. Downtown Waynesville was charming and full of treasures for us to take home. We ate at the local Sweet Onion and Maggie's Galley. The week was truly amazing, and much is due to this great home and its surroundings (alpcas, cows, bison, sheep :) And... the owners were thoughtful and attentive. We even fed and loved on their onsite cat, Barney. Thanks for everything!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
