Sweeping vistas of rolling farmland lead to this 1980's timber frame, passive solar home, located on the edge of a 40 acre field. Two beautiful workhorses live in the field, and are used on the organic farm surrounding our home, and we have chickens for fresh eggs every morning. The owners live near the premises and are available for any help or questions about the area.
A short 20 minute drive brings you to Kennebunkport and it's unique shops, whale-watching, scenic boat rides and fine dining. Guests receive a free sticker for parking at Kennebunk Beach, where you can walk your dog before 9AM and after 5PM. When it is cold and foggy at the beach, it is often warm and sunny just a few miles inland, so stay home at your retreat and swim in the pool or go for a hike in the woods down to the Kennebunk River via a woodland path. The river is safe for children as it is shallow and slow in summer. Many birds and small animals can be seen.
Enjoy relaxing in this open design, timber frame home with a modern kitchen, large living room and a separate den or playroom with a half-bath. Two bedrooms upstairs with a full bath. A small wood parlor stove in the kitchen and an air-tight wood stove in the living room for chilly nights. Oriental rugs, 2 large couches with cozy pillows. There is a timber-frame greenhouse, perfect for drinking your morning coffee. Wood beams and floors, Air conditioning in the upstairs bedroom, Claw-foot tub with shower, Refrigerator with automatic filtered water and ice and gas Barbecue grill on your personal deck, are available.
We are located just four miles from the Maine Turnpike, (I-95) and 500 feet off Route 35, which makes travel to sightseeing convenient, within the area from Portland to Portsmouth, including beaches at Old Orchard, Fortunes Rocks, Goose Rocks, Kennebunk, Wells, Moody, and York. L.L.Bean is just 45 minutes north and Kittery factory outlets are just 30 minutes South, on Maine Turnpike, (I-95).
100 year old sugar maples line the drive to this country home, where beautiful western views offer colorful sunsets, to enjoy from the Adirondack chairs, every evening. Fresh, certified, organic garden produce and flowers available. The Starfield Observatory is a short walk across the field, offering star parties on select weekends, open to the public. Quiet back roads for bike touring. Maps and ride itineraries available.
