Home Port has undergone a foundation-up renovation that was completed in August 2011. The work was designed to both update the house to the 21st century and open up the magnificent view of Mackerel Cove. Settled among houses that have come down through generations of lobstermen, this home enjoys a desirable location on Bailey Island within walking distance of the general store, Giant Stairs Cafe, Land's End gift shop, and several beaches. Sunsets will be dramatic and the sense of being surrounded by water will truly bring home that you are vacationing on the coast of Maine.
The Mackerel Cove waterfront views are across all manner of moored boats and lobster docks and then out to open ocean. Ocean breezes will cool off hot Summer days as they ease into starry nights. This home will be the ideal place from which to set out to explore the 'rockbound coast of Maine' as well as the comfortable shelter at the end of the day. Access the private sandy beach via a boardwalk to search for sea glass and shells or take swim.

The house was in a wonderful location! The view from every window was amazing. The house was in pristine condition, with every amenity I could ask for. We used paddle boats in the cove just behind the home. The rental company was fantastic. They even went to the home and found my daughter's IPod and mailed it home for us. This is a great place for families or couples. The Island is a little out of the way, as far as grocery shopping and restaurants, but it was fun to explore the areas surrounding Bailey Island.
