We spent two lovely weeks at the Desert Cloud. This very unusual, architect-designed home, beautifully restored by its owners, is romantic and comfortable. Sitting on the deck in the morning, we enjoyed gorgeous mountain views and spying all kinds of desert wildlife -- humming birds, quail, coyotes, javelina, road runners, tiny lizards, etc. The all-new kitchen was great for cooking, the living spaces were comfortable, and the two bedrooms and baths at opposite ends of the house were quiet and private. The house stayed cool, and the decks were shaded by the house in the afternoon.. The location just east of Sabino Canyon Road was convenient to the restaurants, hiking, and other amenities of the Catalina foothills, including a large new Whole Foods Grocery. At the same time, we had the sense of being in the desert and not in a condo complex or a housing development. The owners, who are not far away, were unobtrusively attentive and consistently responsive.
