My daughter and I stayed for 3 nights. The apartment is on a quiet side street within walking distance to downtown Newport. Parking was available outside the apartment which is a big bonus. The apartment was small but very clean and comfortable, perfect for two people. There is a small fridge, microwave oven and toaster oven. The owner was a pleasure deal with and I would definitely recommend a stay here.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car.

The unit is centrally located in a Historic home with a separate entrance from the owner. It is on a quiet side street close to the center of town within walking distance to everything and with a designated parking space. The entire unit is small but very clean. The kitchen area has a stovetop, microwave and the owner did go out and purchase a toaster oven when I asked for one. This is great place to stay if you are looking for a "no frills" place to lay your head. The bedroom has a bed but no shelves, tables or drawers to store anything (or unpack). The bathroom is very clean but again there is no place to put toiletries. There is a tv downstairs with limited channels and no vcr/dvd player. The A/C unit does a great job keeping the entire place cool. This is an inexpensive way to spend time in Newport.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

This was a great place to stay, you are literally in the middle of all the greatest places to visit and eat in Newport! There was no couch, one of the only cons of the place but there are two chairs, just not that comfortable. I was shocked at how well these people take care of you though...they supply dishes and utensils, paper towels, toilet paper, clean towels and sheets, there is a mini fridge, a microwave and a toaster oven. Definitely a great place for a couple to stay for a few days!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car.

I had a nice stay in Newport, RI. The apartment was clean and neat. It's a small apartment, but enough room for the 2 occupants it's meant to hold. I had told the owner at the last minute that we had 2 others staying with us and he provided an air mattress and clean sheets. The apartment is on a quiet street and the seperate apartment entrance was great - we didn't feel like we were intruding on the owner's space at all. Great stay overall!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

My husband and I stayed for a long weekend, and were very happy with the accommodations. For us, having a quiet, private space that we can come and go as we please - and relax in when we want to take a break from vacationing activities - is important, as is having some semblance of a kitchen so that we can store snacks and beverages, make our own coffee, and start our day at our own pace without the threat of housekeeping barging in. The apartment delivered on both accounts, with an added bonus of there already being ground coffee in the house ready to go on our first morning. Thanks!! The apartment is located in a charming old Victorian house on a quiet dead-end street, 2 short blocks to the Newport Museum of Art, a 10 minute walk to the tennis museum, grocery stores, a health food store, and the part of Bellevue Avenue where the mansions start (The Elms being the closest). It's also only a 10 or 15 minute walk to the wharf and Thames Street. We did have a car along, which we were easily able to park on the street right outside the house, but the nice thing is, we didn't really have to drive anyplace, which is another bonus if you've ever tried to park in downtown Newport on a weekend - but we did enjoy driving the entire length of Bellevue Avenue on to Ocean Avenue, which is a beautiful, winding road along the coast leading to Fort Adams State Park; you can also gaze from afar at more historical mansions along the way. The apartment will appeal to people who appreciate a clean and minimalist set-up, with tasteful antiques and warm, cozy colors - no corny sailing or beach tchotchkes cluttering the space, or overdone, flowery B&B decor in sight! The street noise was pretty minimal - save for a rowdy college student yelling to his buddy one night - and while you can hear household noises emanating from the owner's part of the house, these were during reasonable hours, and not an intrusion. My only suggestion to the owner would be to have some extra sleeping pillows on hand in the closet - the bed was soft enough that it invited reading, and we could've used an extra pillow each to better prop up in bed.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car.

This apartment is in a *perfect* location - on a side street close to the center of town. The neighborhood is very quiet, but you're close enough to walk to almost everything in central Newport. The apartment is small but comfortable and the steps to get to the bedroom are steep. The bedroom is a nice size and well appointed. The shower is small but very clean. The kitchen area is tiny and has a stovetop but no oven or microwave (which is why I gave it 4 stars) so cooking abilities were limited, but I believe the owners may be adding a toaster oven and/or a microwave for the 2012 season. I had a great time here - I was very pleased with the apartment overall and will be coming back again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car.

We stayed here on August 9, 2010 for 2 nights. The property was in a good location and we walked to Cliff Walk and the water front easily. It was incredibly HOT in the unit when we arrived but the window unit in the upstairs area was able to cool both the upstairs and downstairs. We did not spend too much time in the unit since we were out and about most of the day. The facilities were clean and pleasant. As another reviewer said, more bed pillows would be nice. The steps to the bedroom and bath are incredibly steep. Parking is on the street and we left the car right outside the entry walk. I would stay here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car.

This unit is a carefully updated and decorated abode in a historic home. As noted by the owner it is within walking distance of everything wonderful Newport has to offer. My wife and I stayed here on a beautiful and busy weekend in Newport; since we were able to walk downtown we were freed from worrying about parking. After a long day of hiking around the space was welcoming and offered relaxation; although I wished I had brought my own pillow from home. The only thing I would note to future travelers is that the owners are ambitious people, although the apartment is complete, they continue to work on their historic home. Light-sleepers may want to check with the owners, on their renovation schedule, as some projects are louder than others. Overall a positive and pleasant experience. Great bargain for budget conscious travelers.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.
