We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Eldorado! The location of this property in the Eldorado development is extremely private. It is located on the edge of the development on a dead end road. It backs up directly to the high desert and the views of the mountains/desert and sunsets are fabulous from inside and outside of this home. There is a great outdoor patio area off the living/dining area and another at the front door entrance with totally unobstructed views of the desert and mountains. Both are extremely private and are perfect for dining or star watching. The views of the mountains from the master bedroom are magical - especially at sunset/night. Watching the stars from the high desert is an incredible experience. We could see the Milky Way every night! I have been to Santa Fe many times on business and have always stayed downtown, but it was so much more of a New Mexico experience to stay in Eldorado. This home is clean and comfortable with lots of closet and storage space. We were traveling with 4 women so having 3 bedrooms (two with twin beds) allowed us very comfortable sleeping arrangements. Having a study and living room gave us all space to spread out at the end of our long days of sightseeing in New Mexico. The owner made the rental process extremely easy and provided lots of great recommendations on activities and dining in the area. The drive into Santa Fe is very quick (~15 minutes) by freeway or on Old Pecos Hwy. Our favorite dining experiences in Santa Fe were Clafoutis (french bistro) - awesome breakfasts/lunch, The Chocolate Maven (Breakfast/Lunch), Vinagrette (fresh salads/soups), Cafe Pasqual's (like breakfast or lunch there the best - great community dining table), and Maria's (authentic New Mexican and great Margaritas). Favorite sightseeing - Georgia OKeefe home tour in Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch, and day trip to Madrid shopping and sightseeing. And of course the many beautiful Art Museums and Studios in Santa Fe. If you like privacy, a quiet setting, and beautiful views this is the perfect place to stay! We found it very difficult to leave such a beautiful setting at the end of our trip.

Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

My wife and I are back to reality after a great week in New Mexico. This Eldorado home provided us with everything we needed for a wonderful week. Loved the layout and the architectural details, but the best was the view to the southwest and west. Great sunsets and 20+ mile vistas. We rode the Rail Runner to Belen and back, hiked Tent Rocks and Pecos, and took the tram to the top of Sandia Mt. Made it to all the great museums (recommend joining NMMF before heading to Santa Fe and save a bundle on fees) and had a lot of great meals. Be sure to visit Cafe Fina just north of Eldorado, great food and good people running the place. Hope to return some day with my Grandson so we can share our love of this amazing landscape with him.

Hi Bob, I very much enjoyed your house. Almost felt like I'd come home. Also liked the books and brochures that proved helpful in setting an "adventure" agenda and learning about the geology and history of the area. (And a great book on Alfred Steiglitz.)..... my friends and I were walking in the great expanse beyond the fence out to the old corral. Chaco Canyon—a wonder of the world. Tent Rocks—another wonder of the world. So thank you and I hope to return again.

We had a wonderful two weeks in this Eldorado home. We immediately loved the layout, the light, the warm feeling, and comfort this house emanated. And the views! Looking out the bedroom and dining area windows at the unobstructed scenery was like looking at a painting. Each sunset was more spectacular than the last. The owner was immediately responsive to any questions and provides excellent suggestions for dining, hiking and area attractions . We hope to return. It was a wonderful experience.

Owner response: Thanks for your comments, Mary. It's often difficult to describe the high desert around Santa Fe and how many different mountain ranges one can view from the house. Regardless of weather, there is that magic of sky, light, and land that once sees and feels that is very different than being right in downtown Santa Fe.

This is a memorable vacation spot. Long walks on the desert, beautiful sunsets, lovely views of the distant mountains, wonderful bird life. The house is well designed, simple but complete in accomodation and owner is always responsive to questions and/or problems. We highly recommend this property, as long as it doesn't cut into our time there!

It is not easy for my wife and me to find a vacation spot that satisfies our somewhat disparate interests, but this home hit precisely the right note. The house itself is beautifully situated, with quick access to basic shopping and a half hour's drive to downtown Santa Fe. Although it is in a "development," there is abundant quiet and privacy. One has a fantastic view of the mountains and adjacent high desert landscape from two patio areas where we would enjoy breakfast and dinner. The house is meticulously maintained and provided with all the amenities, and does not feel like a rental property but rather like the home of a friend. The area itself is rich with art, music, and history. And there are literally dozens of superb day hikes through desert, canyons, and mountain trails, extensive information for which is provided by the owner by way of maps, trail guides, etc. We spent a week there in mid-May. Overall it was a wonderful experience, marred only by the painful state tax on rental cars!

Owner response: Thanks for your review Arthur, We keep a lot of maps, guidebooks, and an updated list of our favorite restaurants and cultural venues that we think guests will enjoy. We send some of this material with house instructions so guests can plan their time. Having lived part time and full time in Santa Fe for almost 30 years, we enjoy being able to share our fascination, love and interest in the high desert, culture and history of southwest, including day trips and excursions that we think guests will like.

Today we pack up and clean up, so we wanted to send a thank you for an absolutely wonderful stay. Your home is beautiful and so well-situated along the open space with fabulous views. We have been awestruck by the afternoon storms, sunsets, mountain views, skies and wildlife. The neighborhood is also peaceful and a nice escape from the congestion of downtown Santa Fe. We have only just touched the iceberg in terms of trails and hikes, so we hope to come back another time and stay at your home. We hope to make Santa Fe a regular vacation destination and hopefully in the future purchase a home. With you help, we have discovered Eldorado and it is perfect. Thank you so much for the opportunity to enjoy your home.
