A beautiful, 1,100 square foot Condominium on top of Sugar Mountain. The 5,200 foot elevation provides gorgeous mountain views. Ski in the winter, enjoy the cool mountain air in the summer and watch the leaves change in the fall. Enjoy the expansive view of Grandfather Mountain from every room in the unit, as well as the balcony.
Adjacent to, and above, the Sugar Mountain ski slopes. A great ski location but there are lots of activities. Extensive shopping in Boone, and other nearby towns. Appalachian State University in nearby Boone offers cultural and sporting events. The quaint town of Banner Elk is less than two miles away, Linville Falls and Caverns is a short drive away. The Town of Blowing Rock, famous for its antiques and the Tweetsi Railroad is a 30 minute drive. The scenic Blue Ridge parkway is two miles away. Sugar Mountain provides Summer lift rides.
The entire unit was renovated in the Fall of 2004. New paint, flooring, drapes, furniture and kitchen equipment. One of the few units at Sugartop with a full-size washer/dryer.

We were at this apt this pass week. The apt is some how diferent from the pictures for good. The unit was clean. Bed sheets and towels were clean. However kitchen plates and utensils smelled like roaches. I don't know if it was from not a good cleaning or because they have been with no use for a long period of time. All I know is that we went to a Dollar Tree in Boone and bought plates, utensils and cups. Also no soap or anything like that is provided. So, bring your own shampoo, shower gel/soap, laudry and kitchen detergent and those things. View: Here there is a picture of the Sugar Mountain Slopes, that view is from the side of the building (if you walk around you see the slopes or when you are driving down from the building you see it) BUT you DO NOT see the slopes from the balcony. If you are lucky to have a clear day, you have a beautiful view of the mountains, but if it's cloudy (like most winter days) you don't see anything at all. Parking: The building has a shuttle that will take you from the parking lot to the building. We were told that we would have a parking space at the regular parking lot next to the lobby and a blue parking ticket will be given to us. That DID NOT happen. Instead we were given a yellow sticker and we had to park down the hill. It was very inconvenience as we have kids and bags and the shuttle driver wouldn't open the door or open the back of the van to put the bags. You have to carry all by yourself. When we asked the apt owner about the parking situation she said "I'm sorry but those are the new HOA rules and there is nothing I can do". That is not what we were told when we rented the unit. Very dissapointed with the parking issue and with the owner's answers. Also, the shuttle driver "Alan" every time we asked something, his answer was "I don't know". Very rude guy. The building is 5140 ft high. It's VERY high up in the moutain so get your car ready for this high and you have to be very careul when driving up and down the moutain. One night we were coming up and there were like 10 cars on the side of the road, there was a local police officer passing by and he didn't stop to help or direct traffic. When we made it to the building the officer was there having a good time with the building securities :) How nice!! Over all experience Fair to Poor. Will NOT stay here again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We had a perfectly divine stay! The price was unbeatable and the condo was super comfortable! I know some people complain about Sugar Top being an eyesore and such, but we very much enjoyed our stay. The employees were all very accommodating and friendly. We were shuttled a couple of nights due to owners being there for the weekend, but the drivers made it very entertaining! Will definitely rent this one again!Recommended for: People with disabilities, sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.

The condo was wonderful, very clean! It was so cozy and felt like home away from home! We had a wonderful time in Sugar Mtn. The skiing was great and if you go at night you can save BIG $$ and have just as much fun. We got about 3 inches of snow and instead of paying to go tubing we bought sleds from K Mart and found some hills at the local college. We had a BLAST!!! The only down side to the condo is parking. BUT they had a shuttle that takes you to and from your car...they were very fast and we only had to wait a few minutes. There is also a shuttle that will take you to and from the ski slopes. Very Nice! I would recommend this property to everyone!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, age 55+.

Overall it was o.k.- This was our first vacation in about 10 years. Maybe we are spoiled as to what we expected. The condo was comfy with all the comforts of home and was clean and tidy. The views were amazing. The owners should replace the sheets in the master as they have no elastic left on them and bunched up under us as we slept. Also they're should have been things like hand soap, foil, handi wrap, paper towels & napkins & some spices for cooking. The resort itself, very inconvenient! You have to park and take a shuttle to & from the resort to get to your car. Not to mention it's a 20 minute drive down the mountain and we all got car sick every time we went somewhere. The prices at the ski lifts are outrageous. There is no instruction when renting ski equipment unless you pay for a $20 lesson on top of everything else. The day we attempted to ski, it rained and they closed the windows and no refunds were available. We will not ski Sugar again! The local restaurants were awesome. Banner Elk Cafe was very good and reasonably priced & Dunn's Deli was amazingly fresh & tasty. Best sandwiches ever! Bella's Italian was a little pricy but the amount of food you get is huge. 2 people can eat a calzone or strombolli. Wish we would've known, we wasted so much. Alpine Ski Center was awesome! We actually got an education on skis, snow boards, boots, the whole thing. Those guys were cool. The Best Western (cause we wanted to stay another night) was clean and convenient. Price was good especially with our AAA discount. Greens motel was a dump. Supposed to be non-smoking but smelled like an ashtray. If you want cheap, go there. The price per person to drive into Grandfather Mountain is $15.00 per person. Outrageous! We left and drove around and stopped at places on the road and took pics and climbed on rocks. That was the best day and it didn't cost anything! No crowds either! Blowing Rock folks were nice and the prices there was reasonable. We bought souvenirs from the shop there. The scenery and views were the best thing about our trip and most of the locals were very nice and courteous. Florida folks should pay attention to real southern hospitality. N.C. has it. Oh, The gem mine was cool and we all had fun digging for treasure. Found out most of the locals don't like Sugar Top Resort due to it's massive 10 story structure that changed the landscape. It really is an eye sore and the parking situation sucks. Live and learn.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/6
