Our extended family spent a beautiful week in July 2011. The owners met us upon arrival, which they were very welcoming and informative on operations of the home. The property is clean and well-maintained. Kitchen is stocked well, along with new appliances and a new large outdoor gas grill. The linens and towels provided were clean and good quality. Plenty of beach chairs were provided and the kayaks were fun. Beach area was mostly rocky, need water shoes for sure(owner informed us of this prior to arrival). Plenty of outdoor seating available around both houses, sun and shade. Owner was very helpful and responsive to all communications.I would recommend this property to large families that enjoy the beauty of Lake Michigan, long walks on the beach. It is very accomodating to a large group. Leggs Inn is a must as well as short(30-45min) drives to Mackinaw, Harbor Springs, and Petoskey.

My family of 19+ recently stayed here and had a very nice time. Both houses had ample room along with the deck area and walkway down to the beach. The kitchen was stocked well and the new appliances were beautiful and easy to use. The bedrooms had space to walk around and beds were comfortable. The pull-out couches resulted in back-aches, so recommend bringing air mattresses instead. We lucked out that week with fantastic weather!! We are a 'beach' family, lounging, reading, swimming & playing in the sand. The beach area was full of rocks, although an area was cleared. This still made it difficult to lounge or play in the sand. This was most disappointing and the photos shown on the website are frankly deceiving. If you are looking for a place to hang out, eat, enjoy the view from the house ... go for it. If you are a beach family like us, you may want to think again about it. Especially for the price.
Owner response:Thank you for the compliments on our Lake Michigan home. We apologize for the stones on the beach. The beach can change a little from year to year. Recent storms washed in the stones and we tried to clear away as many as we could. Hope to clear off the rest by the end of the summer. The pictures of the beach is more the norm. Will be shooting for a 5 star review on your next visit.

If you’re looking for a place to get away from it all, or at least away from most of it, this is it. We leased the house, and the adjacent apartment, for one week for a family get-together. Because of personal schedules, our group ranged in size from 13-16 people, and there was more than enough room to accommodate everyone. Spacious is an accurate description. Sturgeon Bay was great for wading, swimming, kite flying, beautiful sunsets, rock hunting, sunbathing, kayaking, sailing, or almost any water sport you can think of. I even went out snorkeling. It has a great sandy beach that we enjoyed every day. You can walk the beach for miles. The setting is very quiet and tranquil--quiet enough to attract bald eagles, and to hear the loons in the evening. After sundown, mostly what you hear is the wind and the lake--nothing else. Looking up at night will remind you what the night sky is supposed to look like—full of stars. Both units were very clean and well-equipped. The kitchens had all the necessary utensils and equipment needed for preparing meals, both indoors, or outdoors on the grills. Yes, grills—there are two. When tranquility got to be too much for those who were restless, Mackinaw City, Harbor Springs, and the Mackinaw Bridge were all within a half hour drive. We also drove through the Tunnel of Trees, several times, which runs from Cross Village, south through Good Hart, and on to Harbor Springs. There is small grocery store in Cross Village that has any “essentials” that may be needed on short notice. We found that for stocking the kitchen, it was best to do a bit of traveling to a larger grocery store. There is an IGA in Mackinaw City, and one in Harbor Springs. The IGA in Harbor Springs is larger and has more to offer. It may be advisable to buy some groceries, before you get to Cross Village, in Gaylord (Glen’s), or Petoskey, which has a Meijer’s and other grocery stores. We stopped at the Gaylord Glen’s on the way up, and were glad that we did. It got us through several days, before we needed to venture out and resupply. We had a lot of people to feed. We have rented vacation houses and condominiums in the U.S., the Caribbean, and Europe, for the past ten years, and this property is as good as it gets. Would I rent here, again—absolutely! The only downside: We couldn’t stay longer.

This rental was perfect for our family reunion with 16 people. There was certainly enough space for everyone inside and out. The beach was wonderful for adult and kids and being able to use the kayaks and paddle boat were a hit with everyone. The homes had everything we needed for cooking and the grills were used to make great meals out on the spacious decks. Everything was well maintained and clean. The gates were wonderful to have with small children around. The location was perfect for a short climb up a sand dune, a nice bike ride, lunch/dinner in town at Legs Inn or afternoon drive to Harbor Springs or Mackinaw City. We would highly recommend this rental to anyone!
