This apartment certainly exceeded our expectations. We found it to be surprisingly roomy, comfortable and well equipped for a small apartment. Although attached to the owners' house, it is completely private and the location is perfect. It has been lovingly created and decorated, was scrupulously clean and we felt very much at home. The owners, Tom and Judy, are welcoming and charming hosts. We very much enjoyed our chats with them and found their local knowledge invaluable. Knowing our interest in wildlife, they were able to direct us to remote areas of the nearby Keys. Our only regret was that we had not planned a longer stay here as part of our Florida vacation. We could have paddled the sheltered waters in the canoe and explored the local area more thoroughly. We would strongly recommend this efficiency to any couple wishing to explore the Lower and Middle Keys or simply to relax in a beautiful location. It will definitely be our first choice place to stay whenever we return. Ray and Astrid, London, England.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This is a wonderful little unit in the Florida Keys. It is about 25 miles from Key West so accessible when you want some of the tourist activities there but far enough to provide a wonderful getaway. The unit itself was clean, nicely updated and well furnished. It was a beautiful setting right on the water. The owners, Tom and Judy are very nice and helpful. We would highly recommend this unit for a couple wanting a little getaway in the Florida Keys.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

After a less than wonderful day of traveling, we arrived at Tom and Judy's and found everything to be as good, if not better, than we read about. They were so kind (LOVED the cold welcome beverages and the Happy Anniversary balloon!) and attentive. The view was amazing. The location was perfect. We were about 25 minutes from Key West - out of the commotion but certainly close enough to head down for a few hours. The accommodations were just as promised. It was clean and well-equiped. There was nothing we needed except a little less wind. We never felt like we were being watched and we never felt unsafe. Tom taught us the proper way to open a coconut and we ate fresh bananas from the tree. Our most favorite restaurant was The Square Grouper. We did some flyfishing one not-so-windy day with Chaos Theory Charters. Other than that, we relaxed and took in a few sights. It was a wonderful week at a location that I would highly recommend to any couple that is looking to escape for awhile. Quiet neighborhood. Relaxed atmosphere. Definitely 5 stars!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

The efficiency rental exceeded our expectations. It was recently remodeled and was well maintained and very clean. The location was ideal being within driving distance of Key West and many of the more popular state parks and local attractions, yet far enough from the "commercialized tourist" areas of Key Largo. Snorkel gear and a canoe are provided with the rental and provide an excellent opportunity to explore the surrounding area. We especially enjoyed relaxing during the evening in the Tiki Hut watching the fish and listening to the ocean breeze rustle the abundant palm trees. Tom the owner was a superb host, being very knowledagble about the area and local attractions. I would recommend the rental to anyone looking for a relaxing, real Florida Keys getaway.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Günter und Yvonne aus BerlinDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/2

The efficiency apartment was exactly as described. It was immaculate, bright, and sunny. The entrance is seperate from the house and privacy is not a concern. Everything that we needed was in the apartment, including fishing equipment, coffee maker, and gas grill. The location is convenient to everything between Key West and Marathon. It is in a quiet residential area with no traffic. A couple of restaurants and bars are about a 5 minute drive away, as well as a convenience store and gas station. Tom and Judy were very friendly and very helpful. They had advice on what to see and do. The water is only a few steps from the apartment, and faces the morning sun. Smaller fish are abundant during the day, but the night fishing was better. We caught a six foot long shark from the seawall. It took both Tom and me to pull it out of the water for pictures, then we released it. Something else took the bait and broke the fishing rod, and we did not see what it was. A neighbor has underwater lights at his dock, and we could see fish schooling and tarpon coming to feed on them. We would definitely stay here again in the future, and recommend this listing to anyone looking for a place for a couple or one person. We liked it much better than the hotels we stayed at in Key Largo and Islamorada.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We stayed a week & it was just perfect! The perfect location - quite with a wonderful view & just 30 minutes from Key West. We would spend our mornings reading & looking over the open water view & we would travel to Key West & other places in the afternoon. The perfect apartment - it has everything you need & just the right size for two people. The perfect hosts - Tom & Judy did everything they could to make our stay special! We look forward to returning when we come back to the Keys!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We enjoyed our stay in Ramrod Key very much. Tom and Judy were the perfect hosts. We enjoyed many hours under the Tiki hut exchanging stories with them, we feel as if we've left good friends there. The breezes were constant and made our morning coffee and evening cocktails very enjoyable. Tom and Judy even shared some end of the season mangoes with us which were absolutely delicious (I haven't tasted mangoes this good since I was a little girl growing up in Bermuda). My husband even enjoyed a leisurely morning jaunt in the canoe exploring the canals (they go as far as the Tiki bar at the end of the road). Also, there is a grocery store & a couple of drug stores not too far away if you've forgotten something. Tom and Judy have described the efficiency well, it was clean and cozy, and everything was in working order. All that we needed was the food, everything else was provided. The location was perfect for us, it is located halfway between Key West and Marathon (about 20 miles in each direction). We visited many of the typical tourist attractions in Key West, including the Butterfly Conservatory, the Hemingway House and the Southern Whitehouse. The highlight of our trip was the guided 1 1/2 hr. jet ski tour of Key West, well worth the price since we were unfamiliar with the waters around the island. We also visited the Turtle Hospital in Marathon, and Bahai Honda State Park. If there was a low point, it was the beaches at the state park. They were covered with seaweed and seagrass and the odor from them decomposing was nasty. Also, we found out that they do not spray for mosquitos because of a rare butterfly, so pack the bug repellant or prepare to be a feast. We had dinner at Big Pine Restaurant and the prime rib and mahi mahi was very good. Boondocks is not far away and although a little pricey (typical of anywhere you eat in the Keys), it was very good. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives, and have already told many we have spoken with about our stay. We feel that we definitely got our money's worth and hope to return some day. Thanks again Tom and Judy for a great stay!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I just returned home from the best vacation ever! This is my fourth trip to the Florida Keys and by far it was the BEST EVER. Our stay with Tom and Judy was fantastic. The location is perfect for exploring the lower keys and situated right on the ocean. The views were breathtaking and Tom and Judy make sure that you have everything you need to enjoy your trip. The images on this site do not do the unit justice, it is the perfect hide-away with nice furnishings and finishes. We struggled to leave the place to do any exploring because it was so peaceful and relaxing to just sit under the Tiki Hut and grill our dinners on the gas grill. Tom and Judy showed us how to crack open fresh coconuts and how to saltwater fish. I even caught a few Mangrove snappers. We saw a shark in the canal and some really cool glowing sea-life in the water at night. Although we did not use the canoe that is provided, we were really happy to take advantage of the snorkel equipment, fishing gear and bait, beach chairs, and cooler that are provided at no additional charge. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing spot with a beautiful view. Give Tom and Judy a call. They were excellent hosts, helpful when needed and out of sight when not needed. You will not regret staying here with them on Ramrod Key. I will absolutely be back and I will stay with Tom and Judy again!!!! Thanks Tom and Judy for the absolute best time in the Keys!!! Our stay in Tom and Judy's lovely efficiency couldn't have been nicer! Accommodations were cozy and super clean with everything you could think of provided, including fishing gear, snorkling equipment, etc. This unit is so quiet and private yet so handy to everything you want to enjoy in the Keys. We visited nearby Bahai Honda Beach, No Name Key (saw many Key Deer), enjoyed entertainment at the 'Tiki' and Boondocks up the road, even played Miniature Golf there one day. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the lower keys and friendly hospitality everywhere we went. Discovered Big Pine Restaurant and their delicious omelets! Also the Island Fish Co. on Marathon Key. Simply scrumptious food! One day took the short trip down to Key West and rode the Conch Train, ate at the Hog's Breath Saloon, and finished up our night at the Sunset Party.....The only problem we had during our stay with Judy and Tom was in deciding whether to go on any number of fun excursions or to not go anywhere at all.....Truly, the scenery at this darling efficiency will take your breath away. Just kicking back beneath the gorgous palms and enjoying the shade in the adorable tiki hut ...or grilling a super delicious tender steak on the oceanside grill....well, you get the picture......an atmosphere that was pretty hard to leave. Tom and Judy are super nice people and do everything possible to ensure folks have a wonderful time during their stay there at Ramrod Key. This truly is a Tropical Home Away from Home!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

When we first saw the rental online we had a few concerns; how uncomfortable would it be with the owners onsite, would we have any privacy, was it in a safe neighborhood. According to the ad, they had so much to offer we figured what did we have to lose as we are normally on the go anyway. To our surpise we enjoyed the rental and the owner's, Tom and Judy, so much that we spent the first four days of our vacation onsite. We had all the privacy we wanted, the neighborhood was very safe and with all the amenities they offer we had plenty to do. Bottom line, reserve your dates, pack your clothes, because everything else is provided, and get to Ramrod Key for an awesome, relaxing vacation and tell Tom and Judy the Millers sent you.Did you find this review helpful? We were so warmly welcomed by the owners,Tom & Judy, who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable & enjoyable. They made it very clear that the efficiency and outdoor space was ours to enjoy and provided us with all of the privacy that we required They were a wealth of knowledge about everything from Florida Keys fishing, crabbing, palm trees & more. The efficiency, which was newly remodeled, was very bright, extremely clean and very well maintained. We were provided with everything that we needed and more. Normally when we go to the Keys we spend a lot of our time exploring the area, but this year was different because we had a hard time leaving the Tiki hut and the incredible view. We spent most of our time sitting by the seawall fishing reading and soaking up the sun. It was amazing how the temperature was so warm, yet it was always comfortable on the waterside of the property. There are several good restaurants in the area. Parrottdise on Little Torch has a great view & good food. Looe Key Tiki bar is on Ramrod Key and has a great "Taco Tuesday". Boondocks is also located on Ramrod Key. If you are looking for an easy way to get to Key West, Key West Transit offers a bus that will pick you up( and drop you off) at the Tiki Bar for $4.00 each way ($1.50 if you are over 60).. The bottom line is....We had a quiet, peaceful week in a beautiful, private location. I can't wait to go back!!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

What great place to stay !!! QUIET,RELAXING are just of the few great qualities to mention.Exceptionally clean inside and well stocked with everything you need as well as outside, many chairs barbeque.Speaking of outside, the views are just awesome with your choice of sitting in the sun with all the palm trees, relaxing under the Tiki hut for a nap, fishing off the wall that is directly in front of the efficiency and all equipment is there for use. When night time comes you will be took back by breathtaking views of stars that seem so close you could touch them.In between Key West and Marathon which gives you short distances to great places to eat and sight seeing then you can come back to peacefulness the property brings.Canoe is great to take out as well as riding bikes through the quiet friendly neighborhood. The owners Tom and Judy are some of the greatest down to earth people you will ever meet.We will with out a dolbt have friends for life. The only thing we did not like was we had to leave but we will return.Did you find this review helpful? Tom and Judy were great hosts and have alot of information about the surronding area. The apartment is perfect for two, very clean and has all the essetials for living at home. Fishing at the breakwall and just hanging on the water was very relaxing. There are two bars just up the road within walking distance. The Tiki bar has the best Happy hour prices and the Boondocks bar has excellent food and a huge mini golf course, great fun. Check out No Name Bar a few miles away at No Name Key the walls are lined with one dollar bills and in places are six inches thick. They estimate to have over $100,000.00 pinned up. They also have great pizza and very freindly staff. We walked from the apartment everywhere and its perfectly safe all the people in passing were very freindly. We went to Key West a couple of times and checked out the crazyness there its about 25 miles from the apartment. There is a huge grocery store only ten minutes from the place. So if your looking to relax and bake in the sun, this is a great place. Quiet neighbor hood and you would'nt even knowTom and Judy live next store. Have fun and enjoy your visit. Thank's again Tom and Judy for everything. Don and Leslie the UP of Michigan.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
