St. Pete Beach apartment description
Blue Water, White Sand! Come to our little corner of paradise, an easy 28 minutes from Tampa Airport or 15 minutes from St. Petersburg and Clearwater Airport. Our two-bedroom, 1 bath apartment, built in 1944 and completely renovated just recently, is just 100 paces from the sugar-like sand beaches of the Gulf and just 70 paces from the Intercoastal Waterway. Be prepared for your breath to be taken away, as you cross the sand dune walkover and see the bluest-blue and greenest-green Gulf for the first time. Think Corona beer commercials.
Rent a car if you want, but you will find that you can walk everywhere you need to on our little island. Great restaurants like Paradise Grill, the famous Hurricane's, and the Seahorse will have you believing that you have just stepped out of your parents' 1955 Chevy. Go deep-sea fishing or take a shelling or sunset cruise from little Merry Pier, or rent a pole, buy some shrimp bait and catch sheepshead, grouper, or snapper off the jetty. Grab a cone at our local ice cream store, Paradise Sweets, and stake out a bench on the sea wall. Wait for the daily parade of dolphins leaving their safe intercoastal environs and heading out to the Gulf for hours of play and eating – you might even spy a manatee poking its bristly nose up for air!
When lazing your days away eating grouper and shrimp – so fresh they are still salty – gets old, you are only a short drive from Busch Gardens, Adventure Island, the Salvadore Dali Museum, and the Ringling Museum. Orlando is only 45 minutes away and Sarasota, for a great day of shopping and dining in St. Armand's Circle on Siesta Key, is a simple day trip. Of course, there are outlet stores along the way, or you can go native at a beachy fish joint on Anna Maria Island.
Completely renovated in 2007, our second-story apartment with its own private entrance is full of our favorite tropical art and the colors of the Gulf. A large Great Room blends seamlessly into the brand new kitchen, with a king Tempur-pedic bed in one bedroom and two twin beds in the second. A queen pull-out sofa in the living room and outdoor shower will all make you feel right at home. Enjoy breakfast or dinner on the deck inside our landscaped and fenced yard. The owners live right on the property - separate from your space, of course! - so your wish is our command.
Just one thing, you have to promise to leave when your stay is over. We have more guests arriving!

Truly Mayberry on the Beach!
Truly Mayberry on the Beach!
We stayed from June 8 - July 7, 2013 and had a fantastic time! The accommodations were even better in person than they look in the online photos. Plus, Chris and Ann were terrific hosts. We felt immediately at home as we worked, played and visited with friends and family in the bay area. It's the perfect spot and allows you to explore all of Pass-A-Grille (from the Don to the Hurricane by foot or bike. We've already committed to our next stay.

Great Apartment, Location, and the best Hostess!!!
Great Apartment, Location, and the best Hostess!!!
My husband and I took my mother-in-law to the beach for Mother's Day!! She loves the beach. This town is beautifu and so quaint. Chris and Ann were wonderful. The beach is only few steps from the apartment and it is pristine and not too busy. There is not a lot to do in the town...but if you are looking to relax this is the perfect place. St Pete is very close and you can find a lot to do and also have great restaurants and the Salvador Dali museum. This museum is beautiful. Also, sunrise walks at beach are a MOST!! You will get to see dolphins really close to the shore. We will definitely return!! We can't wait!! Hugs The Hellers P.S. You need to try the fish sandwich and french fries at Sea Critters...Yumm :-)

Owner response: Merci, Linda, Gisele et Daniel, for your very nice review! We were so happy to act as your hosts and enjoyed our time with you, learning more about French-speaking Canada. We look forward to your next visit. We will go boating together! A la prochain, Chris & Ann
We (two adults and a one year old baby) spent September in wonderful Pass-a-grille. We had a great vacation and the apartment, the beach and surroundings was perfect. We made many day trips including to orlando, Everglades, Tampa, Sarasota etc and also spent a night at Miami beach. The owners, Chris and Anne, took really good care of us and we would be happy to visit them again (as we now sit indoors in cold and dark Sweden we wish that we had never left Pass-a-grille).

Super beach rental
Super beach rental
We have stayed at this rental two years in a row for our Spring Break vacation. The owners are very welcoming. The apartment is spacious, very clean and has everything a family needs to feel comfortable at the beach. Our children love to play in the pretty and private yard. The beach is clean, uncrowded, and the water is warm and beautiful. The sunsets are spectacular. We enjoy walking to the local restaurants, shops and the playground. Ft. DeSoto state park is a short drive away and has bike, canoe and kayak rentals. This year we went canoeing and saw a manatee. The new Dali Museum is also a short drive away in St Petersburg, we thought it was amazing. You can come and just kick back and relax, but if you want to get out and see some sights they are easy to get to.

Charming Rental and Charming Community

Our family rented in April and enjoyed the rental, the weather and Pass-a-Grille tremendously. The owners are very knowledgeable and helpful about the area. One of our favorite things was that we could easily walk to the beach and to the local restaurants as well as wandering around checking out the amazingly varied homes in the area. We watched the sunset nightly and walked the beach daily. The unit itself has everything one needs, is very roomy and comfortable. Great fun being less than a block from the beach and the gulf on one side and less than a block from the inter-coastal waterway on the other side. Nearby Sea Critters restaurant was a favorite hangout for us and Paradise Sweets is not to be missed for its ice cream.

Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: Midwesterners Ann and Chris 'found' Pass-A-Grille in 1990, traveling here for vacations with our mothers for almost ten years before purchasing our home which we call Blue Water White Sand. Ann is a Benefits Consultant and Chris operates her own horticultural business called Garden Buddy. We have two Australian Shepherds, Scout and Ben, and love to travel, sail, play golf, kayak, fish, and spend time just chilling with our PAG friends.
Why the Owner Chose St. Pete Beach:
We first came to Pass-A-Grille in 1990 and immediately felt as if we'd stepped back in time. Our little town typifies the 'old Florida' feel. We call it 'Mayberry on the beach.' Everyone knows each other - from Andre the mailman, to Rebecca and Julie at the Salon, to Debbie at the Seahorse Restaurant, to Bruno the Turtle Man - it can take an hour to walk your dog just because of all the conversations with friends! On the other hand, we are minutes away from major league baseball, terrific museums and restaurants, and all the beach life you could want. We can be fishing in five minutes and setting off on our sailboat in ten. Every sunset is an art show and it's tough to beat the cornhole tournaments with a beer at the Paradise Grille. Life is pretty darn good.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
The most pleasant by-product of staying in Pass-A-Grille is how your spirit finds quiet again. Walking the beach or the endlessly interesting alleys, a peace descends on you, washing away all your stress and worries. This is the Florida that many of us knew as children - beaches full of sea life, a convenience store, knotty pine tables at the local breakfast spot, nights so quiet you can hear the waves from a block away, and one and only one stoplight. Come and enjoy riding your bike down the middle of the street again!
