Our genuine log cabin is nestled in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, just off the 441 spur. The semi-secluded cabin sits almost at the top of a mountain, giving a sensational view and a simply heavenly feel. Yet within 10-15 minutes, you can be at any of the major attractions of the Smokies.
The log cabin was built by the renown photographer of the Smoky Mountains, James Thurston. Its suite-like floor plan with large rooms containing open beamed cathedral ceilings, along with a warm, cozy décor make it the perfect cabin for a family of six or two couples. Each bedroom has its own attached bath.
You don't have to leave behind your four legged family members either. Sunset View is Pet Friendly! A large Pet Porter is stored in the lower level closet to be used when the family wants to go out for the evening, yet be sure the family canine or feline will be safe, as well as the cabin.
Sunset View is a cabin you'll want to return to again and again for a special relaxation and peacefulness that you can only experience from a porch swing, while watching the sun melt over the mountaintops.

We visited good friends, who are now our neighbors, for a weekend visit back in February 2005. We fell in love with the mountaintop and the fabulous view from it. One truly feels closer to heaven in the mountains!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
We have made our cabin more than just logs and furniture. Everyone who stays tells us how warm and cozy it is. It is "home away from home". A very short drive from the Smoky Mountain Parkway, right in the midddle between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We are just 10 minutes from Dixie Stampede and Dollywood. For the nature lovers, the location of the cabin allows quiet morning and evening walks up a picturesque mountain road. Only a 30-40 minute drive to Cade's Cove. 20 minutes to Five Oaks Mall and "Miracle" in Pigeon Forge.

Charles and Alice Curnick live in Louisville, Ky. Charles is retired from Jefferson County Public Schools and Alice is still working as a 3rd grade teacher. Both love the great outdoors. They live on a mini-farm with 3 horses, 3 labs (one yellow, one chocolate, and one black), 4 cats, and "too numerous to count" goldfish in their backyard pond.

We loved this comfortable cabin just outside of Pigeon Forge. Close to everything yet up in the hills away from the tourist traps in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. It was so nice to come home each day to such a peaceful, beautiful setting where we could just relax and enjoy the view, outdoor hot tub and huge indoor jacuzzi tub! Cabin is nicely decorated with "bear" motif--inlcuding a mother and 2 cubs hanging from the living room rafters. Very cute! We actually saw a mother and 2 cubs in Smokey Mts. Nat'l Park on the Cade Cove loop. Thanks for a wonderful stay and we hope to return.

We just returned home from our second stay at your beautiful cabin. It was like being at "home" and we already miss it. The view from the deck is awesome! You can watch the sunset from the large deck and see Pigeon Forge begin to light up in the distance. As we were leaving early yesterday morning, we had to return to the deck for ONE MORE LOOK before leaving. The cabin is charming and beautifully decorated and very clean! That is a MUST with me and Sunset View passes my inspection totally! It is a pet friendly cabin so my little Yorkie is able to go with us. Often times pet friendly cabins are not as clean as I would like but Sunset View is great. The owner, Alice, is so easy to work with in making last minute arrangements! Thank you, Alice! We fully plan on returning again. God bless you and thank you for sharing your lovely cabin with us!

Leaving home with the car packed for a (several) day stay in an unknown home can sometimes be a little unnerving- not knowing for sure if what 'you saw' will be 'what you get'. There was no need for any worry with "Sunset View". From my online reviews, phone talks, and arriving at our destination- everything went so smoothly. The drive up to the cabin was like getting away from everything!! The location (off the Parkway about 2 miles from Pigeon Forge) overlooking (slight view of) Litttle Pigeon River and all the mountains across and around you and the view of the lights of Pigeon Forge at night made it very scenic at all times of day/night. The sunsets were TRUELY awesome. All the furnishings are very comfortable and everything was there that we needed. Having the large pet carrier there for our use made it convenient for our little 6 lb. 'Ozzie' to have plenty of room when crated during our days out of the house when he was 'deck-watching and enjoying the fresh mountain air. (We didn't have to bring crate from home for him). It was very enjoyable to have the hot tub for relaxation when we got back from our daily explorations and shopping. We hope to be able to revisit "Sunset View" later this summer on our next trip away. Just counting the weeks..............

We just returned from our stay at Sunset View and had a great time. The cabin was perfect for our family and we were able to take our small dog with us to the mountains. The cabin is very convenient to both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and the owners were very accomodating and easy to work with. We will definitely stay here again.

This is the most charming and comfortable place to stay in the Smokies. Very relaxing either inside or outside the cabin. A must while in the area and the owners are a special couple to do business with.

Don't waste your money staying in town. The view from this cabin is priceless! This is the best vacation we have ever had and that was due to the view and the peace and quite at this cabin. The owner has added some very special touches to decorating this cabin and you will be missing out on them if you don't spend your vacation here. Just the drive up to the cabin is unreal. Looking forward to going there again.

Sunset View is a wonderful cabin. The owners have made sure that it has all of the "extras" that you appreciate when staying in a rental property. They were extremely responsive in answering questions before our trip, and in processing our request. The cabin is in a perfect location. It is on a mountain, but not too far up. It is exactly between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. It's extremely clean, and has an amazing view. We decided that next time we would spend a little less time at the amusement parks, and a little more time in the cabin relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
