Scenic and peaceful year round, the Sunrise~Sunset Cottage sits on the southern tip of Deal Island in the harbor village of Wenona.Veiw a Maryland Public T.V. documentary on Youtube called "Island Crusader". This program begins in the Wenona fishing Harbor. Deal Island shares a similar history, bird, and wildlife population with Hollands Island.

Enjoy spectacular Chesapeake Bay and Wenona Harbor water views from our modern custom built waterman's style cottage. Watch ships and fishing boats from the 2nd floor living room picture window and 2nd floor deck. Sip coffee as you take in a Wenona Harbor sunrise from the 2nd floor screened-in porch/deck area.

Welcome to Maryland's "slower, lower" Eastern Shore!

Plenty to do and see!!! Bring your boat(s) or rent ours. We offer kayak, bike, and motor boat rentals. Plus there is free use of our canoe. Maybe charter a boat from one of the Wenona Harbor boat captains for some fishing, birding and/or sightseeing. We are home to the Eastern Shore's best fishing & sightseeing spots. Panaromic water vistas galore!!!

Hike/bike Deal Island. A perfect blend of water vistas, harbor activity and old town charm. Bring your camera. It's one of the few remaining places on earth to harbor the commercial Skipjack sailboat. Do you like to eat crabs and fresh fish? Buy'em directly from the boat captains as they come in to harbor with their "catch of the day".Or enjoy catching your own.

Birdwatch with our binoculars or yours from our 2nd floor OR as you bike or hike the Wildlife Mangement area which runs throughout the island. birdwatchers can see Egrets, Herons, Pelicans, and Bald Eagles. Many from the raised living area of the cottage. Stargaze with our telescope or by naked eye;..the Milky Way never looked more stunning!

Enjoy our upstairs livingroom area w/vaulted ceiling & ceiling fan.Which functions as a year round sun room and nature obsevatory Take in breathtaking sunsets from the living room picture window, feel the warm bay breeze, and watch sailboats, fishing boats and ships as they cruise the bay. Sip coffee from our 2nd floor screened-in porch/deck area as you watch the sunrise "inch up" over Wenona Harbor.

This is a great place for kayak or canoe trip adventure too. You can paddle the short distance to Little Deal Island...relax, fish, crab or dig for muscles on its beach. Explore the local tributaries, such as the Manokin River.

Guests at our home will feel like neighbors when they are greeted at the general store by Arby and his family who will answer questions and give you info on water conditions as well as fishing and boating info. Arby's store is stocked to meet the needs of fishermen/boaters...AND with penny candy for kids of all ages!

Bring your bikes as it's a wonderful place for a short tour around town or for that longer bike ride over the Deal Island Bridge and around the Deal Island Wildlife Management Area. We provide a guide.

You can also relax on the quiet beaches of Deal Island and Little Deal Island. We provide the beach chairs & umbrella. And remember to save plenty of down time to enjoy summer reading by the bay and board games. This is a great place to reconnect with friends and family any time of year.

Night time is campfire time around our property firepit! Hey maybe roast some oysters, muscles and/or Smores as you gaze skyward for shooting stars!

There are several options for dining. Stock up on groceries at the Food Lion in Princess Anne as well as prepared seafood from the nationally known Beach to Bay Seafood Restaurant and dine by the bay at home. Princes Anne has several Eastern shore-style restaurants as well as fast food choices. We also recommend Lucky's Last Chance Grill located in Chance, Maryland just before crossing the Deal Island bridge. A menu for Lucky's is available at the house in the info book. Call ahead to see what's on the menu for the day and place your order. Their cooks prepare fresh home cooked meals breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you are planning a special celebration they do offer catering. You will also find basic groceries as well as beer and wine.

Deal Island is connected to the mainland by 1/4 mile bridge. By car, it's a short trip from Baltimore, Washington D.C., Annapolis, Philladelphia, and New Jersey that will take you a world away to visit a "land that time seems to have forgotten" on Maryland's Eastern shore. Our guests from afar fly in to Sailsbury-Wicomico Regional Airport...a mini-hub for US Airways. So come be our guests!

    • Hi Patty, Thank you for being so prompt with the security deposit and for sharing your home with me and my family. My son is already asking to go back next year, but for a longer period of time. The bird watching was amazing out there. I saw osprey and an eagle which made my whole summer. Thanks again. I will be in touch in the future.

    • Before... Well, here we go! We are very excited to get to your home today. Thanks so much for making us feel welcome-that is a very nice welcome letter. We are taking the 8:30 Ferry and will spend some time exploring before we check in. After... Thank you so much for renting the house to us-It was a great time . It brought me back to when I was a kid with similar landscape that was not built out. The girls especially enjoyed our boating trips to Little Deal Island or as they call it "Adventure Island". It was a new exploration with every change in the tide . They found a bunch of sea glass. Thanks again, Tim
