Friends at the University recommended this place to us. We have never stayed anywhere like this. Truly fine ceramic art built into the floors, doors, walls and counters. The photos on the web site don't do justice to the art. Eva and Tony are quite nice, helpful, and keep everything in great working order. Everything was there, from kitchenware to wi-fi to beach chairs. Eve's handmade guide to Kailua puts Lonely Planet to shame. This is a great neighborhood, in very high demand these days, especially with family. Beach is wide, miles long, and free of garish commercial development.

We had a lovely time at the very clean and comfortable Clay Art Rental. Eva and Tony are wonderful hosts and provide boogie boards, snorkel equipment, beach chairs, picnic supplies, towels and some food basics as well as all cooking essentials. They have thought of everything, are very gracious and fun to talk with, and were very helpful with restaurant suggestions, etc. - but also were very respectful of our privacy. The listing description is very accurate - the walk to the beach or to downtown Kailua is a breeze, through the well-kept neighborhood, and it's only about 20 minutes from the airport. We really appreciated the off-street parking and safe feeling of the neighborhood, and liked being away from the crowds and traffic of the Honolulu side of the island. We generally started our day with a walk on Kailua beach, followed by breakfast at the cottage. Then it was off to explore the windward and north shores, for the most part. We thoroughly enjoyed the hike up to Makapu'u Point (amazing view up towards Waimanalo Beach) and walked down to the Dragon's Nostrils blowholes, which were terrific. We were lucky enough to see lots of great surf and surfers, whales and turtles and even a Monk Seal! I would recommend this property to a couple or a family of four. The Clay Art Cottage is conveniently located to almost any Oahu attraction, and to all the beaches (Hanauma Bay is only about 1/2 hour away). All in all, a great value and excellent location and choice for a wonderful stay.

We stayed 9 nights at Clay Cottage. It was very clean, comfortable and quiet. There were just two of us but I think the Cottage would be fine to have one or two children. Eva and Tony were very gracious hosts. We did not feel like we were in their space at all. We did not cook much just breakfast and snacks. I appreciated the washer and dryer. We beach is within walking distance and we loved being so close. We would definitely stay there again!

I can't add anything to all the wonderful reviews written so far, but to say that this rental was our best vrbo experience to date. the owners were so great about making sure we were having a great time. I would recommend this to anyone. The activities book in the cottage was very complete as far as giving information on where to go and things to do. This is a little house in a very Hawaiian neighborhood and we loved it.

We finally got away for the Christmas Holiday--just the three of us, and this rental was the perfect retreat. The advertisement and description of the property is very accurate and the beach seemed even closer than described!!! I really enjoyed the creative use of space in the rental and the bright, airy feeling of the art and white tiles. My only irk--which has nothing to do with Tony and Eva--is the close proximity of houses to one another in Hawaii. For someone used to a rural environment, the sounds of neighbors living their daily lives was unsettling, especially because we really enjoyed the cool breezes blowing through open windows. Tony and Eva did everything to make us feel welcome and were not too imposing...their presence was perfect. As for attractions, we bagged Hanuama Bay because there were entirely too many people, even at 8 in the morning. We found great snorkeling beaches all along Rt. 72, so would recommend skipping all of the people! We didn't plan on going to the Waikiki Aquarium or Zoo, but are so happy we did, we had some great family moments there. I think the Kailua location is the perfect place for an Oahu vacation.

This rental made our vacation perfect! The owners were extremely friendly and accomadating. My wife, our daughter & I stayed here for a week and found it to be perfect. The lanai was secluded and well appointed, the living room was spacious as was the well equipped kitchen, and the bedroom and reading nook were beautiful, bright, and extremely relaxing. An outdoor closet packed with beach toys made our stay even more fun. The off-street parking, and A/C were a plus also. Being only a block from the beach & five minutes to downtown Kailua made the location perfect as well. This is a one of a kind rental at an extremely reasonable rate, we will definitely stay here again on our next trip!

We are very excited to share out great vacation experience in Clay Art Cottage. It is the first time our family of four (2 adults and kids ages 10 and 6) decided to rent a place from an owner and was a little bit uncertain how it will be. After going through lots of places for rent on website, we’ve decided that Clay Art Cottage is the best match for what we need. Reading all the positive reviews for the unit, we were sure that we’ll have a good time and we didn’t make a mistake. We had the BEST vacation of our lives as a family! The place is wonderful. All the positive things in reviews are absolutely true. Location is convenient –very close to a beautiful beach. We usually were able to go to the beach twice a day: before going sightseeing or hiking for a morning boogie-boarding/surfing and after for an evening jog. The neighborhood is very quite, safe and friendly. Unit has everything you need to feel yourself at home. Everything works great, didn’t have any problems. King size bed and futons are very comfortable. Snorkels, masks and fins are in good shape and there enough for the family of 4. Life vest, sand toys were very handy for our 6-year old. 2 boogie-boards, beach towels, surfboard – we’ve used them all and were very thankful that we didn’t have to bring this stuff with us or rent. Unit has a nice flat screen TV and good library of movies for adults and kids. The place is very neatly decorated, but at the same time you don’t need to worry with kids that they will damage or break anything, everything is very robust. The back and front yards are a big plus, as kids could safely chase lizards for a while, while we are getting ready for a new adventure or resting. Beautiful binder “What to do in Kailua” helped us to find several local hikes and attractions which you will not see in any commercial tourist guides. Tony, Eva and their boys showed great hospitality! From our very first day of arrival, we felt so welcomed there! If we had any questions, Eva and Tony were always ready to answer and help us with any requests. We strongly recommend this place to everybody and if we decide to go back to Oahu, we’ll definitely try to stay in CLAY ART COTTAGE again. Thank you, Eva and Tony for making our vacation so special!

We had a great stay at this rental as a family of four with two children (8 and 1 yrs old.) The rental is very clean and well equipped and we haven´t missed anything. Kailua itself is a great start point for exploring the whole island of Oahu. The beach of Kailua is very close (walkable, 5 minutes). To Lanikai beach it is a short drive. Eva and Tony were wonderful hosts and very helpful. We would love to come back in the future!

We just returned from a one-week stay at the Clay Art rental and found it perfect for our needs. I was originally looking for a two-bedroom place, but the price and description of this one caught my eye. Located in a residential neighborhood a few blocks from the beach, it is, in essence, a well-appointed, large studio apartment. The pictures and written description are accurate (although I'm not sure what is meant by the "1.5 baths." There is one nice bathroom with a large shower and an outdoor shower for rinsing off after the beach). We did not eat any meals other than breakfast here, so I can't speak to the utility of the kitchen, other than to say that it is small but well-stocked (no dishwasher or garbage disposal.) The bed is comfortable and the den worked ok as a sleeping space for our 7 year old. The wifi also worked well. The owners live in the adjacent unit and are quite friendly and helpful. If you plan on spending most of your time exploring the island (as we did), this makes a great homebase at a great price.

Our family of four, (2 adults, a 16 and 19 year old) stayed with Eva and Tony and their family in August. We enjoyed their warm and friendly hospitality, the clean and organized cottage, close proximity to the farmer's market, Kailua town, and the beach (which is within walking distance - parking is not really available near the beach). Eva had also put together a nice notebook full of nearby restaurants, activities(we loved the hike!), and information about Kailua which we used and appreciated. Whenever we needed something, they were happy to oblige. It was our first time staying in Kailua, away from Waikiki, and we really enjoyed having the easy parking, and non-hotel experience in laid back Kailua. Mahalo, Eva and Tony!

Our stay at Clay Art cottage this summer was very enjoyable. The place is very well organized to make your stay very pleasant and not miss anything that is essential for your vacation. It's very clean, the floors are all ceramic tile with beautiful art work, which keeps it extremely clean and easy to maintain. It is very comforting too to watch the decorations around you. The air conditioning is a blessing. The kitchen has all the essentials and the bathroom is very clean with a great shower that never clogs. Our kids enjoyed the big garden and we appreciated that we could park the car in the driveway. The owners are always available to help with anything that you might need. They are so thoughtful to all the details, we were impressed. We found everything we needed for the beach. The house had lots of towels, soap, shampoo, paper towels. I basket with fruits and sweet treats for the kids and a warm welcome letter waited for us on the table. Eva had put together a comprehensive folder with valuable and very detailed and reliable information about local activities, places to shop and eat, and how to operate everything in the house. Her must do suggestions were so helpful, and the places she recommended were local gems that you can't find in any travel books. Location is great, we could walk to Kailua beach or take a short drive to Lanikai beach. The grocery store is very close by. The whole neighborhood is very quiet and pleasant, full of plumeria, mango and papaya trees that we admired every time we walked around or coming back from our adventures around the island. I would recommend this place to any of my friends. We will definitely come here again.

From the minute we arrived, we felt welcomed, safe and secure! The cottage was clean, we kept, orderly...it had everything we needed, and nothing that we didn't need. The kitchen was well equipped, including basic cooking essentials. Beds were very comfortable. Loved the close proximity to shopping, restaurants and the beach! Even though Eva and Tony were very busy getting ready for their own trip, they found time to get us familiar with the amenities of the cottage. Kailua has a unique blend of residents with more of a "family focused" atmosphere...with little to none of the commercialism you find in Waikiki. It would be a place we might consider when we retire, and eventually relocate...and we would definately rent the cottage again when returning to Kailua ...and will recommend it to friends. Thanks Eva and Tony for sharing your home with us!

Our stay in Eva's and Tony's rental was excellent. The cottage is just minutes from the beautiful beach. Tony was so helpful in suggesting places for my husband and daughter to snorkel and surf. Eva's binder of activities and restaurants was very comprehensive. We appreciated knowing what places they would recommend eating at. The unit was very clean and included so many items that we found useful. I appreciated the availability of a washer and dryer so we would not have to travel back home with our dirty laundry. Eva and Tony were very gracious and thoughtful. I absolutely would love to come back again!

The clay art rental in Kailua was just how it was described. The neighborhood was quiet and charming and the walk to the beach took only 5 minutes. The cottage was perfect for our family of four. It was very clean and nicely decorated. Eva and Tony were the perfect hosts, we had everything from beach towels to beach umbrella's for a day at the beach. The kitchen is well equiped and it was nice to prepare our own meals. We loved Kailua and this wonderful rental and would recommend it to all our friends. Thank you to Eva and Tony for making our stay the perfect family Hawaiin vacation.

We spent a week this April at the Clay Art Cottage and found it a very comfortable, beautifully decorated, quiet, and a laid-back accommodation overall. It had everything that we needed, with beach towels, chairs, boogie boards, and snorkel/fins for our outings to the beach and barbecue, washer /dryer, and outdoor shower for our return. One thing that was most helpful was a binder compiled by Eva and Tony that had information about local beaches, hikes, activities (particularly for children), and restaurants (complete with menus and personal ratings). We went on two of the hikes (terrific) and found the directions helpful and the descriptions accurate. It was very helpful in planning our activities. The cottage is about a three-block walk to the beach, an easy stroll. The beach at Kailua is absolutely beautiful and lends itself to long walks early in the morning for coffee at one end or lovely evening strolls to the other end. Swimming was great. All of this is very handy. I wholeheartedly reccommend this accommodation. Bob and Debby Sorenson

My husband and two small children and I stayed for a beautiful week in Eva and Tony's quaint guest house. We arrived very late at night and they sweetly had our children's beds set up complete with stuffed animals! It was a lovely area and the beach cannot be matched. Beautiful powder sand and great waves for body surfing and boogie boarding. All of the beach, kitchen and household amenities are more than adequate for a comfortable stay. We would absolutely stay again!

Eva's and Tony's cottage is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the most beautiful beaches of O'ahu (Kailua, Lanikai and Waimanalo). The rental has everything a family of 4 needs in all aspects, is immaculate and beautiful; we especially appreciated that two beds were set up for our kids in the den so we didn't have to use the futon in the living. We also used everyday the beach gear provided for the guests: bodyboards, beach towels, umbrella...Eva has compiled a very helpful binder of things to do in the area as well as a list of all the restaurants in Kailua. Following her advice we did the pillboxes hike one morning and enjoyed a marvelous view of the whole Kailua bay. The beach is a short walk from the cottage and definitely better than crowded and expensive Waikiki. Eva and Tony have also been extremely friendly hosts. Highly recommended! Isabelle & Francois

Our family (my husband, my 1 year old daughter, and I) thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent at Eva and Tony's Clay Art rental in Kailua. I second the thought that the unit is much larger than it appears in the pictures! In addition, the unit is immaculate. The "welcome" treats were such a nice touch and the "Things to Do" book helped us plan our adventures while in Kailua (since we were winging it on this trip). The short walking distance to the beach was heavenly, and it was such a joy to have access to a full-size washer and dryer (means we didn't have to lug dirty clothes home! Yay!). The icing on the cake was the must-have pack-n-play sleeper for our 1 year old (provided by the wonderful hosts), complete with blankets and stuffed animals borrowed from one of their youngsters. It was such a relief not to have to rent a crib while we were there! Thanks to Eva, Tony and their kids for making our vacation so wonderful - Take Care!

The cottage, run by Eva and Tony, is a lovely place to spend quiet and restful days on your holiday. I stayed there with my husband and son over the Christmas holidays and we were very happy there. It was so much nicer than staying at Waikiki hotel which we did on our last holiday in Hawaii. The cottage is clean, spacious and everything in it worked really well. The cottage is well equipped and had all the amenities to make anyone's stay comfortable. What was especially good were the beds which were of excellent quality - something I really appreciated because of my bad back. The walk to the beach took less than 10 minutes even though the cottage is located on a very quiet street. Eva and Tony are wonderful hosts. They welcomed us so warmly and always made sure that we had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We were especially impressed by The folder that Eva so painstakingly put together which gave us all the information that helped us enjoy Kailua even more - with lovely recommendations for restaurants and ideas for enjoying the beach, sun and surf. Getting around was easy. We were able to walk to Kailua town - this takes about 20-30 minutes, and also took a bus downtown. There is ample street parking, and the streets are easy to navigate so driving would also be easy. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to spend their vacation in Kailua.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Clay Art Rental and we couldn't be more satisfied! We called them on short notice and Tony and Eva were still very friendly and helpful throughout the whole process. The description and photos of the cottage are very accurate. In fact it might even be nicer in person : ) As soon as we walked into the cottage we were amazed by how clean and organized it was. They have made a three ring binder full of activities, restaurants, beaches and other things to do in Kailua and Oahu which helped us a ton! Their beach equptment was very nice, the outdoor shower was sooo helpful and the washer and dryer came in handy too! We'll reccomend this to all of our friends and family. Two thumbs up from two happy honeymooners!

Me, my wife and two kids just spent a week at the cottage and we just wish we could have stayed longer. What a wonderful vacation retreat! Everything was absolutely perfect. First the location in Kailua that has the nicest and most appealing beaches you can ever imagine. It is also protected by the reef that allows you to enjoy all kind of water activity very safely. And the location is truly walking distance to the water. The unit is immaculate and so pretty and is featured with all you need for enjoying a home style vacations. It is also very private with it own entrance and outside patio. One of the nice things too is it has 3 different rooms so you could bed the kids earlier. Tony & Eva and their adorable two boys transformed our stay into a fantastic and unforgettable experience. They really treated us as special guests, helping to settle down, giving the extra piece of advise that made our day. Eva gathered a a whole booklet list of activities/restaurants etc that is so useful to find the right information and there is so much else that we could say. In a nutshell : if you landed on their web page and are looking for a place to stay in Oahu that looks like paradise, do not browse any further, you just found it.

This place has everything you need for the perfect vacation. The cottage was extremely clean and comfortable and just a short walk to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The owners have thought of everything and have the place stocked with all the "extras". We loved the local treats on the table to welcome us as well as the cold drinks in the refrigerator. The closet full of beach going supplies was great. They even have a picnic basket and coolers for a day at the beach. Eva has made a beautiful book chock full of ideas and sights to see in Kailua, as well as restaurant menus and maps. We've been to Hawaii several times before, but we learned new local secrets like "Turtle Cove" where we drifted with the turtles all morning...it was bliss! However, your hosts Tony and Eva, are what make this place truly special. They were extremely warm and welcoming. They were always making sure we had everything we needed and made us to feel like part of the family- the very essence of the aloha spirit. WE LOVE YOU GUYS!! It was the perfect place to stay and we will be back :)

My wife & I booked this rental last minute just happy to have found a place to stay. The rental is all of & more than the page describes. The one thing the page can't account for is the warmth & hospitality of the owners. Tony & Eva are 2 of the nicest & most helpful people you'll ever have the opportunity to meet. Kailua Is alot like any other small town USA but for the fact it's located in paradise. If you don't return home from the clay art rental completely refreshed & relaxed, you may want to schedule an appointment with your doctor right away. My wife & I are already working on a return trip with the children for next fall & booking the clay art rental will be our 1st call.

I really appreciated the map that was listed online with the rental, as many other listings did not have this feature. It was really fun having the beach so accessible. We weren't sure what to expect when we made our reservation. The photos just made everything look white and we were sure everything had been Photoshopped. It was nice to see you have added some color but it was great to see how clean and well-taken care of the place was. It isn't really a rental apartment as an art gallery. Even though we were there for 5 nights, we kept finding something else to admire about the place. Tony & Eva were the perfect hosts - very accommodating with our needs. I felt like they gave us a lot of privacy, but if we ever needed anything, they were quite accessible and went out of their way to help us out. Traveling is sometimes a bit difficult with our toddler, but they let us borrow their wagon to take her and her toys to the beach, and they even found some board books to read to her at night. The art studio itself is also very cute. It's a very clean studio with french doors that open to the side adn there was always a nice amount of sunshine coming in- we aren't used to so much sun, but we quickly learned to go to bed with it and get up just before it does. There was both indoor seating, as well as a nice outdoor table. At night, we had a great breeze going through the place, with the windows open and the fans going. What a wonderful place! We highly recommend it!! Thanks again!! We'll definitely be back!!

I love this cottage! I recently spent a week at Eva’s and Tony’s lovely rental and it was so much more than I expected! The photos cannot accurately depict its uniqueness. The unit is bright and cheery – and exceptionally clean! It is outfitted with everything you could possibly need, just bring your personal items and you’re set. It is definitely a home-away-from-home. Also, Eva has assembled the most comprehensive “What to do in Kailua” book I have ever seen. If you choose this unit you won’t be disappointed. I have stayed at several places in Kailua and this is by far my favorite. I hope to return soon!
