Great Long Views. Near Wineries, BR Parkway & Crooked Road
Year Purchased: 2005
Why the Owner Chose Meadows of Dan
While dating, we visited a Christmas Tree farm in Meadows of Dan and loved it. We decided to get married there and in looking for a minister, we also looked for land. We wanted long range views and finally found a lot in Edgeview Estates just off Belcher Mountain Road.
In 2005, I was hating my job and decided to try one more backpacking trip. Went to the Smokies and came out with a couple of days left on my vacation. I decided to go up to our lot and take a sunrise picture that I could put in my office to keep my spirits up. I drove in early one morning and set up the tripod and waited for the sun. It was okay, but not a trophy shot. Packed everything up and headed back up Belcher mountain. Between my comings and goings, someone had put a for sale sign in front of Laurel Point.
I met the owners at the house and it was a glorious day. I think I could see Canada. I was known as a fierce negotiator but I was putty in their hands. I knew I had to have that house. They came down a little and I offered them my sweaty handshake. It takes nerves to buy a house without your new bride having seen it. Obviously all is well that ends well.
We decided that the worst thing we could do with the house is just let it sit there. We're 11 hours away and are lucky to visit 2 or 3 times a year. So far we have had excellent guests and feel good about sharing our house.
Hope you come and visit. It's beautiful during the spring, cool in the summer and spectacular in the fall. Notice I didn't mention winter. A little too cool for this Tar Heel converted Floridian.

The superlatives written about Laurel Point Villa are all spot on. It is a perfect get-away to reconnect with family and enjoy time together. We all said the same thing when we arrived - the pictures of the house and views do not do it justice. Don't get me wrong - they are great pictures - it's just that pictures can't capture the reality of the beauty of house and views. The whole experience from the time I first contacted Bill about renting until we left was perfect - he was very communicative about the house and surrounding location, which made the whole experience very, very enjoyable. If you want a quite place of beauty - this is the place. The Woodberry Inn is a great place to eat and within a few miles of the house, but with the well equipped kitchen and beautiful dining area, we ate most meals at the house so we could enjoy the ambiance and family time together.

Honestly, this place exceeded every expectation we had. We sincerely appreciated the care and attention to detail that the owner took in arranging this trip for us. The house is so beautifully taken care of. The landscaping is immaculate, and the view rivals the majesty of anything I've seen in Virginia. We found the place to be very spacious, containing anything you think you might need, and perfect for entertaining! We toured wine country, the quaint parts of this rural area, and had a great time. Still though, all anyone could talk about, was that view, that house, and most importantly - when can we come back?

Absolutely fabulous!! You literally feel like you're sitting on the top of world when you're on the front deck soaking up the cool breezes and leaving the heat of the South behind. When you need to escape the every day rat race and regroup, this is the place to do it. You have everything you could need in a beautiful setting. Plenty of room for friends or family, or plenty of room to get away from them. The area is beautiful and you'll want to return again. There was plenty of information on site to tell you about things to do and see in the area......if you can force yourself to venture out. We were perfectly content to sit and read, enjoy the butterflies and the hummingbirds, and just sit and have a quiet moment and a glass of wine.

This house was the perfect retreat! Beautiful, well equiped, great location and easy to relax in. We used the house during our son's graduation from Tech and our only regret was that we didn't have as much down time in the house as we would have liked. (We were busy with graduation activities.) The view is astounding and can simply take your breath away. A little difficult to find and navigate the roads, but once you get it... then it becomes home very quickly. I can't wait to go back and enjoy more that the surrounding area has to offer.

I had the pleasure of renting this house over Memorial Day Weekend for a wedding. The house was gorgeous! I was instantly impressed when I pulled up the driveway and saw a beautifully landscaped front drive. I walked in the house and instantly had to run around and look at everything; my two favorite places in the house were the deck (for obvious reasons) and the kitchen. My guests were thrilled when they arrived to see such a nice place. We spent a lot of time on the deck just taking in the view. A few of my friends found a path that led from the basement doors away from the deck. We did have 1 morning of sitting in a clouds, but by noon the clouds had lifted and my friends were able to see the view I had been talking about since the night before. I have rented many places through craigslist, vrbo or resort websites, this house has been by far the best I have rented. My friends and I cooked meals in the kitchen, grilled on the porch, played cards and reminisced about the years past. The owners were an excellent resource, they told me about local grocery stores, hikes to take and when your GPS will not work. They were extremely friendly and accommodating me and my thousands of questions. Thank you for sharing your wonderful house with us, everyone left Laurel Point with a smile!

Our family stayed at Laurel Point Villa during Thanksgiving. We found the home to be a "little bit of heaven" in the mountains. Comfortable, well equipped, fully stocked with home necessities - towels, sheets, pillows, cookware, dishes, silverware, everything in working order, clean as a whistle and of course, phenomenal views for miles around. We could not have made a better choice! And, the owners were spot on with directions, information about the area and recommendations on what to see and do. I would recommend a stay at Laurel Point Villa to anyone who wants to get away to "a home away from home"!

We enjoyed staying in this spacious and beautiful home. The house is very well appointed, has every amenity and is very comfortable. The convenience of being close to the Parkway was great! The view is majestic and breathtaking. The silence and peacefulness as you're standing there overlooking the beautiful scenery is something which cannot be described. I felt as though I was on top of the world. It left me speechless. I just stood there trying to take it all in. WOW! We only wish we could have seen the beauty of the changing of the fall foliage. I'm sure it would be spectacular! We will definitely return to this beautiful mountain retreat.

We were in the Meadows of Dan to attend a family wedding at Chateau Morisette. We were looking for a place that could house accomodate many members of our family so that we could spend the time together and relax. We could not have a found a better location! The house is amazing with spectacular views. And, the layout was perfect with the bedrooms away from the living area and easily housed the 8 of us with lots of privacy and room. Did I mention the view??? We hosted a brunch out on the patio and everyone could not stop talking about the house and the views. Would not hesitate to recommend this place! And, Bill is fantastic and went out of his way to make sure we knew everything about the property and its ammenities. I am so jealous of the linen closet! One Recommendation: Being from the West Coast, we were a little surprised just how far away everything is. It is great to get away from it all, but be prepared to spend some time if you need to get groceries or supplies. All of MOD is like this, so it is not unique to the property. Actually, we had to go to Primmland and the Chateau, so we were very centrally located for both properties. Our location was the envy of everyone!

As so many others have commented, this is an exceptional house. We've rented vacation houses in many parts of the US including fantastic red rock views in Sedona AZ and spectacular ocean views on the California coast. Laurel Point tops our list of "must stay" vacation rentals. The house is very private. Other than nature, seldom is a sound heard. The expansive deck has unlimited views of mountain ranges for miles and miles. The sunrises are just awesome. The layout of the house is perfect. The three bedrooms are forever apart. The kitchen is well-equipped with state-of- the-art appliances and accessories. The vast windows, in addition to providing the excellent views, also bathe the interior in warm light. All-in-all, fantastic. A+!! The Sprinkel family highly recommends this vacation rental in the mountains of Virginia just off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. You will NOT be disappointed. Enjoy!!
