We planned to use this property as a mid point to travel, when we arrived it was so clean the owners were amazing people and we found it hard to leave for day tripping. The views magnificent, so clean and welcoming. It was better that we ever expected and it made us feel very safe staying here. Cannot wait to go back.

We stayed at Casa Eugenia in July of 2011 and would recommend it without reservation. The tiled apartment was clean, spacious and a 5 minute walk through a quiet neighborhood to a great beach. A large patio/deck off the full kitchen has long views to the water and overlooks the orchard of which John and Eugenia Carvahlo, the hosts, are so proud. Guests are welcome to stroll through about four acres of fruit trees and vegetables and take what you need for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The work the Carvahlos put in from dawn to dusk is amazing and matched by their genuine good humor and hospitality. We had several tremendous seafood meals in Figueira da Foz and, when I mentioned that my son and I enjoyed grilled fish John came home the next day with sardines and mackerel, fired up ther grill and fed us along with a couple of families staying in other on-site accomodations. Fresh grilled sardines and vegetables overlooking the orchard: the best meal we had on the trip and no doubt the one made with the greatest care. These are good, decent people who take care of their property and their guests. If you're looking for a place in central Portugal to use as combination beach and base of operations, this is it. Close/short drive to Coimbra, Conimbriga, Aveiro, Seirra de Estrella/Monsanto, and even Sintra. Can't wait to get back.

We stayed at this property for a week and we were made most welcome. The apartment was spotlessly clean and every thing we could possibly want was provided. The hosts really made us feel welcome and we were well looked after. The property is a short walk from the lovely beach and there are bars and restaurants all within easy walking distance. There is also several supermarkets in the area including the fresh market on the front. The property had massive garden and terrace to the back with provided view of the hills and the sea, great for watching sunsets! There was plenty to do both in the town and it the surrounding area although a car would be an advantage if you wanted to go further afield. The beach in this town is its main draw and would be ideal for families. We made most of the sights identified as near by and enjoyed them all. We would certainly recommend this property for those seeking a holiday in Portugal.

October, 2009, I had the privilege of staying at Casa Eugenia in Figueria da Foz for 2 weeks. This was absolutely one of the best places I’ve stayed in a foreign country. The apartment was very convenient to the sights of the city and beach, but also in a very nice neighborhood. The city is very clean and friendly. The apartment was excellent for my extended stay. It was very clean, nice beds, and good atmosphere – I enjoyed cooking with the fresh fruits, vegetables and fresh meats from the local farmers markets. My apartment was fully equipped to cook and bake what I desired. The patios are lovely and very relaxing with gorgeous views as well as the nicely manicured yard and garden areas. I really felt like family, as John and Eugenia were very helpful in directing me to the things I needed or wanted. Their children were available to answer my many questions in English. For me this was totally awesome since I speak no Portuguese – This made it so easy for me. I really felt like I was coming “home” to my apartment at the end of each day. Between the awesome stay at Casa Eugenia and the wonderful people in this community, I had a fantastic 2 weeks! I would highly recommend this apartment to both experienced travelers and the new/green traveler. You will be treated like family!

Just recently stayed at Casa Eugenia... Portugal was amazing and we loved Figuiera Da Foz and the surrounding country side. What really made the trip a pleasure was the hospitality provided by John and Eugenia Carvalho. Its always difficult to travel to other countries for an extended amount of time. Everything seems so different and foreign but John and Eugenia made us feel like we were home. I have had the ability to travel to many countries and have experienced a number of different types of accommodations. Casa Eugenia ranks far above any where I have ever stayed. The Carvalhos constantly went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying every minute of your stay... If you plan on going to Portugal and plan on staying in or around Figueira Da Foz, be sure to stay at Casa Eugenia. You will absolutely love it!!!!!!!....... Thank you so much to John, Eugenia and David for making our time in Portugal one of the best experiences ever

Looking for a home away from home? This is it! Owners Eugenia and John were the most wonderful hosts and David kept us well informed of places to eat and visit within the surrounding areas. We booked 7 nights and stayed 8. Figueira da Foz is the perfect spot for day trips. I would not hestiate to recommend Casa Eugenia to anyone looking for a place to stay in Portugal but beware of the Ginja. Thank you Papa John and Mama Eugenia for a truly memorable experience.

We had a wonderful time in Portugal and we hope to return some time. The people are so gentle and non-aggressive. Our time at Casa Eugenia was very special; our hosts were delightful. We were extremely comfortable in the apartment - we had lots of room and the attention to detail in every way was so touching and appreciated. We loved the garden – the fig trees, grape vines, tomatoes and lettuce, etc. What a treat. September was a great time to visit and Buarcos a good base to explore the surrounding countryside. We would be happy to recommend Casa Eugenia to anyone.

If you are looking for a place to stay that feels like home, this is the place! The location, facilities and hosts are beyond amazing. We travelled Portugal for 3 weeks, and the week we spent with John and Eugenia (along with a few days with Dolce and Alberto, and the phenomenal assistance from David), made our trip a truly memorable one. It truly felt like we stayed with family,

We stayed at this property from Figueira Da Foz for a one week period in May 2009 and really enjoyed it. It was perfectly located to visit the middle area of Portugal, from Fatima, Coimbra, Conimbriga, Aveiro and many more cities. We were 4 adults and it felt like being at home, with the superb view of the ocean in addition. We had the opportunity to cook our meals, received good advices from the owner of the facilities such as grocery, restaurants etc... Also, we really appreciated the kindness of the owners, Eugenia and her husband. Eugenia also had us taste her secret ''Ginja'', which was very good. We highly recommend this location to everybody, very nice place and people.
