the "Church of Miracoli" and its fantastic "Campo Santa Maria
Nova" IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD OF "CANNAREGIO".

The apartment has ancient wooden exposed beans all over, even in the kitchen and bathroom as well as wooden floors and it is located
on the first floor of an ancient house overlooking Canal Widman in an area which is at the crossroads of the other two neighbourhoods of: "Castello" and "San Marco". The apartment and the whole house are considered "Heritage" by the Italian "Monuments and Fine Arts Bureau" because of a peculiar architecture which still preserves Veneto and Byzantine remains dating back to the earliest times of the foundation of the city when Longobard invaders forced the inhabitants of the mainland to take refuge in the Venetian lagoon marshes in the 10th century AD.
The house,overlooking Canal Widman and ancient palaces like Palazzo Pasqualigo,Palazzo Widman and Casanova's house gives you a great experience:romantic sights of historical palaces at moonlight: the inner courtyard of Palazzo Pasqualigo with ancient well and columns opposite the apartment and the small bridges linking the two banks of the canal.
The whole building is strangely snail-shaped and looks like a castle because of its high walls.Enter it and step back right into the past:a romantic inner courtyard with its own ancient "door" on the canal,a marble staircase with 9 steps and a byzantine column will welcome you.
The apartment is composed of a small entrance, a large living area with a sofa-bed for two, a cosy, double bedroom which is slightly elevated and behind a large and high book-case. This elevated part also leads to the well-equipped kitchenette and to a large bathroom with shower.
The kitchenette is fitted with all modern comforts:cooking top with oven,electric fan,fridge,washing machine,micro-oven,and toaster .
From the water bus stop of "Fondamente Nuove" which is a short walk from the apartment,you can reach directly the airport "Marco Polo",the Lido,the train station, the car/bus terminal of "Piazzale Roma" and the ship terminal of "San Basilio".
The water bus stops of : "Rialto" and "Ca'd'Oro"are a few minutes
from "Ca'Miracoli".
The area is full of traditional shops,small restaurants and the traditional Venetian wine bars called "Baccari" where you can taste our local food and live the special atmosphere of these places. |
