This is our 2nd home that we've decided to make available on a small scale - as such, you will find that Hansel Haven has everything you need for a relaxed and luxurious vacation. Welcome.
Enter through the airlock front door into our inviting great room. The living area has plush carpet and leather seating, a wood burning stove, and a beamed open ceiling. The kitchen is fully appointed with microwave, ceramic glass top stove, the world's quietest dishwasher and all the cooking utensils you could ever need. There is breakfast bar seating for 3 and a massive dinning room table with seating for 12.
The Master suite is on the main level. It has a wonderful Eastern King covered with a down comforter. There is a private bath with dual sinks and shower, walk in closet (contains a roll away bed), satellite TV with DVD, and a private deck overlooking Prosser mountain. The view is stunning!
Also on the main level is the inside laundry room located next to the elavator (yes, the home has an elevator that can be used for a small fee - just ask) and another full bath with tub and shower.
The stairs up take you to the oversize loft. Here you’ll find the game table, library and DirecTV, DVD, and a full surround sound stereo. The loft has a massive leather sectional (our kids prefer to sleep here versus in beds!). Access the deck for a supreme view of the adjacent Tahoe National Forest with Prosser Hill in the distance.
The stairs down from the main level lead to two additional bedrooms. The “queen room” has the queen bed, a large closet and access to the lower deck. The “bunk room” sleeps four with a double bed, twin bed, and a slide-out trundle under the double. A full bath with shower is adjacent to the lower bedrooms. The lower level can also be accessed through the 3 car garage.
Hansel Haven is also perfectly located. We are on Hansel Ave very near the intersection of Landeau Lane. We back to the open forest with a slight downslope which gives us wonderful views. Only a few steps to the Hansel trail head that connects to the Tahoe Donner hiking trails. Hansel Haven is 1/4 mile from the Trout Creek Recreation Center and the Tahoe Donner Golf course. At the Rec Center, you will find 2 pools, 3 hot tubs, two workout rooms, a sauna and steam room. Adjacent to the Rec Center is the Golf course, driving range, and a wonderful nature trail.
Need more Recreation? Donner Lake is 3 miles away. Prosser, Stampede and Boca Lakes all have fishing and boating as well and are about 4 miles east. In addition to Tahoe Donner’s hiking and biking trails, the entire national forest is at your disposal (maps are in the kitchen). Horseback riding? The equestrian center is 2 miles away. Skiing? Tahoe Donner Downhill and X-country centers are about 2 miles. Depending on traffic you can reach North Star, Squaw, Alpine, Boreal, and Sugar Bowl in about 15 minutes.
Truckee boasts a score of diverse restaurants, many are award winning. In addition, Truckee has many quaint shops where you can spend your time considering local art, fashions and collectibles. A guide on the kitchen counter gives more specific ideas for activities in the area.
So make yourself at home. Hansel Haven is a great place to figure out what you want to do on your Tahoe/Truckee vacation.

We spend a week each summer in Tahoe Donner, and have had mixed experiences with the quality of the houses we've rented. This house goes to the top of the list! We loved the location, on a quiet street with no rear neighbors, but close to both TD pool areas. Fantastic forest views out the back, and easy access to the TD hiking trail through the backyard. My kids (3 under 10) enjoyed the loft / entertainment area for reading and playing games. The house itself was clean, spacious and well maintained. Very comfortable for relaxing and spending family time. We will definitely visit again in the future.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway.

Very comfortable, clean, and nicely furnished home with a lot of room to spread out. The house had everything we needed and a beautiful view from the decks. The owners were great to work with and gave us many suggestions for activities in the area (they also have a great binder with instructions for the house as well as local attractions). The kids loved the loft/game room with large movie projection screen. House is centrally located--very close to Donner Rec Centers and easy commute to lake. Would definitely rent here again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

This is the 7th house I've rented in Tahoe Donner. The home is very clean--fully carpeted which is nice with little ones--and beautifully and comfortably furnished, with attractive 'Tahoe Donner' mountain decor, high wood ceilings. The living area had plenty of space, and the upstairs loft is quite large and great fun. I would rent this cabin again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

This is a wonderful place to stay. Very comfortable, roomy, and well appointed. The kids had a blast making a sledding run in the backyard and thought it was more fun than the sledding hill at the snowplay area. The owners were a pleasure to work with. The best house we've stayed at in Tahoe!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This place is fantastic. We stayed here a week this summer and a week last winter and will surely be back. It is completely furnished and decorated down to the smallest touch. Tje beds are VERY comfy (down spreads and down pillows). With 3 full baths and a large water heater, it made getting the full crew cleaned up a breeze. The back has a horseshoe open area that backs into the forest where the kids made over a 100 yard long sledding hill. They had a ball. The views across to Prosser hill are unobstructed by anything man-made. The owners spend a lot of time here and it shows. Very nicely appointed. I've stayed at many other Tahoe Donner homes and this by far is the best I've stayed in for the money. These folks are simply not charging enough!Did you find this review helpful? About the owner: This is a mother/daughter owned homed (along with our husbands). The mother is a retired school teacher and her husband will soon retire from the same field. The daughter and her husband work at a major computer technology company. We all reside is the Bay Area of California - about 3.5 hours from our wonderful home.
Why the Owner Chose Tahoe Donner:
We bought this home in this location NOT as a vacation rental property - but as a place where we could create and share fond memories with our direct and extended families. We love the mountains and the surrounding area of Truckee and sure you will as well. Since we cannot be there all the time, we make it available for rent during other times. This is our home first, and a rental second.
