Reclaim the balance in your life at this secluded gem...

Review #4695905 Reclaim the balance in your life at this secluded gem... We spent the most incredible week at this wonderful beach home. We were in dire need of a relaxing getaway from all the stresses of life, and then some. We also wanted to spend some quality time with our children who are turning into young adults and will soon be on their way. We had early morning beach walks, we biked the beautiful trails that surround the area, built sand castles, boogie boarded, read like fiends, had s'mores and bonfires on the beautiful beach lit by a gorgeous full moon. Mostly we laughed and enjoyed each others company with no other distractions...we all agreed it was the most relaxing vacation we have ever spent together. The house is perched right on the beach, literally steps from the sand, and it is situated in such a way that it is totally private. In fact, we seldom encountered anyone on all of our daily beach walks. The endless expanse of water, and the sound of the waves throughout the house..you really feel closer to God there. You can spend an hour sitting on the deck with a good cup of coffee gazing at the water...and when the moon rises! WOW! What a site to behold as this giant red orb literally rises up on the horizon within minutes before settling in its perch in the night sky and illuminating the lake. It really rivals the glorious sunrises. The most special part is the owners...they truly love their home and take joy in sharing it with other people. We can't wait to go back.
Owner response:Maria, Mike and Family! We are so happy your family enjoyed our beach house! From sunrise to sunset, while on our sandy shores of Lake Michigan, you relaxed and played, creating family memories to last a lifetime! You certainly embraced the 'comforts of our home', while easing the stress of your everyday life and in the process, rejuvenated your soul! That is what our 'Great Lake Getaway' offers our guests! It was a pleasure meeting you this summer, sharing our home and hopefully we'll see you next year on our sandy "Wisconsin Shores'!!! Enjoy! Thank You! Char and John. :)

Ten Timbers is a moden house in a rustic setting. It has most of the conveniences of home but it perched on the shores of Lake Michigan. The house is designed with windows and decks than maximize its closeness to the Lake. People sleeping upstairs may want to bring a sleeping mask if they don't want to see the sunrise. We found the house to be very well maintained.
Owner response:Larry and Marilyn It was nice to welcome you back to the 'neighborhood'. Glad you enjoyed your visit and the sunrises on Lake Michigan while at Ten Timbers. Char and John.

My family and I just spent a relaxing week at this lovely beach house. The views of Lake Michigan cannot be beat, and my 7 year old son had to be dragged away from the beach each day. We spent our days combing the beach for interesting stones, flying kites, boogie boarding, and watching the changing face of the lake. Hearing the surf made us feel as if we were at the seaside. We had a fantastic dinner at the Lighthouse hotel, cheap (and good) pizza at the Sandy Bay Restaurant, and enjoyed grilling at the cottage. Thank you Char and John for sharing your home!
Owner response:Joann, Bruce and Nicholas We are so happy that your family enjoyed our beach house and the amenities of the surrounding area. It was a pleasure to meet you, and hopefully you'll enjoy another visit on our sandy shores! We think it's a great place on a Great Lake to 'relax with family and make summer memories' that will last a lifetime! Hope to see you next summer! Thanks again! Char and John.

Our stay at Ten Timbers in June was very relaxing and a great escape from the heat in the lower Midwest. The expanse of Lake Michigan and the location of the house on the water put you in the mind of an ocean vacation. The spectacular sunrise made the early morning walk on the beach even more special. Several of our late night walks were complemented by the full moon reflecting on the water. Ten Timbers is a great place for rest, relaxation and renewal. The house is very charming and inviting. A great place to curl-up and read a book or just get caught-up on some much needed rest. We loved our stay and would recommend this vacation get-away.
Owner response:Karen and Kevin...It was so nice to meet you in June at our Beach House! We're so happy that you both enjoyed your relaxing time on our sandy shores! Whenever you need another escape to Wisconsin, please visit us again!

A Million Miles From...

My wife and I recently spent the better part of a week at the "Beach House of Ten Timbers." After a frenetic summer of work, family engagements, and other assorted life "have-tos'", we arrived at the home ready for some serious down time. This beautifully located home offered just what we needed in spades! Even in hot spells, the waves of Lake Michigan roll in like soothing clockwork, slowing the pace of life to something God intended. There are spaces both inside and out for everything one could want. For the cook, the outdoor nature watcher, for those who love to lounge in bed, reading a great novel (there are many to "borrow" throughout the home!), and for those who simply love the most gorgeous lake on this green earth. If you are among those who feel battered by the news of the war, the gulf oil disaster, the go-go society we live in -- and you want a fabulous week a million miles away from, well, all of THAT. We would highly recommend the "Lake Michigan Beach House of Ten Timbers" to reclaim your balance, your love for living, and your connection to nature. During our week at the home we greeted the most brilliant sunrises you can possibly imagine, walked for miles along a blessedly undeveloped beach (and discovered a most incredible lighthouse), collected gorgeous lake rocks for collecting and decorating, read to our heart's content, ate old fashioned smores by a brilliant lakeside fire pit, grilled steaks and fresh Whitefish on the Weber (check out Suzi Q's Fishmarket in town!), and napped every afternoon at one. Like the waves that came every few seconds, we set ourselves on a pace of life we previously dreamed. To say that we highly recommend this enchanted place would be an understatement. To John and Char -- we say "thank you!" for sharing your incredible home with us!
Owner response:John and Jane....You are 'SO WELCOMED'!!! It was a pleasure meeting you! I'm sure we'll see you again! We were happy to share our home with you! You embraced our home as it was intended to be enjoyed! Our home, the lake, the forest, and all the surroundings...it truly is 'a little piece of heaven' for us too! Thanks again for vacationing, relaxing and rejuvenating at Ten Timbers.

Our experience renting Ten Timbers was fantastic. We spent a week in August and we had a truly memorable vacation. John and Char were a pleasure to deal with from start to finish and made us feel as welcome as family. The house and property are beautifully maintained and we had lots of room for our group of six. The area is great for everyone - from days doing nothing at the beach to adventures on the bike trails, birdwatching and the great maritime museum in Manitowoc. Don't miss the 25 cent ice cream at Pine River dairy. We look forward to a return visit! The McCallums
Owner response:It was a pleasure meeting your family and we're happy you enjoyed our home and the area! Thanks again!

Magnificent location and very comfortable. In October it was a heaven of peace. Two Rivers is also an excellent gateway to the Wisconsin peninsula. Coming from Europe it was for us a marvellous and unique introduction to the real America.
Owner response:It was a pleasure welcoming you to Wisconsin! We enjoyed sharing our 'Beach House of Ten Timbers' with you for your American "Holiday" Experience! Thank You! -Char and John

Excellent location, we had a great time playing on the beach. Great family vacation, very low key and away from the craziness of everyday and work. We have 3 little kids and took Grandma with us, the entire trip felt like we went back in time and could enjoy peace and quiet. Just a great old fashion relaxing family vacation. Thanks for a memorable trip.
Owner response:We're so happy you and your family had a great time at our beach house!! Thanks for coming to Two Rivers!
