I travelled with my mom to celebrate her 90 th birthday in style. It was a joy to be in this tropical paradise-warm without being hot, abundant sunshine and always a pleasant breeze. This property is absolutely superb. The Sotogrande complex has only been open for about 18 months, so everything is pristine. This unit has one of the best locations as it is directly ocean front. The minute you walk through the front door, the wow factor hits you! There are outstanding views from the living room-dining room area, bedrooms and of course the huge patio. Although the unit faces east, it has sun until about 2 p.m. and then the sun returns before dinner. While this may vary with the time of year, we noticed during our stay that the other condo units around the infinity pool do not get the sun.This condo is an end unit and has complete privacy and seclusion. At the end of the day, you can place your lawn chairs in such a way to even catch the sun set. The plunge pool was kept immaculate and really enhances the look of the property. In Aprll, it was warmed up by the sun and I was happy to read my book in my private pool overlooking the ocean. The patio is so huge that during the day you can always find a place to either sit in the sun or the shade. The bed was supremely comfortable. The kitchen and bathrooms were spacious and luxurious. Everything was immaculate. There were no bugs and no mosquitos. The infinity pool is huge and inviting and has lovely patio furniture with parasols. Unfortunately my mother could not use the pool as there were no handrails. Once you navigate the approximately seven steps into the pool, you are in very deep chest water. It is a fantastic pool-but only for the able bodied. There is a kiddies pool. The beach and the ocean at Sotogrande is well kept and is good for small children. However the water is too shallow to swim in. Less than 10 minutes away is an uncrowded dreamy palm fringed beach-perfect for swimming. My mother and I rented a golf cart and visited Juanillo Beach for lunch and swimming as well as a great day trip to the Marina for lunch and touring. The owner was very responsive and a pleasure to deal with. He coordinated private airport transfers and grocery shopping with the property manager . The only negative was that we were missing security pins to lock the patio doors for the first two days. After mentioning this to the concierge, we were given the pins. There were so many wonderful things about this property. The two master suite layout was fantastic, the furnishings were exactly what was needed, the appliances were nice and easy to use. Fridge was big and cold, bathrooms were nice, large TV with international cable, and the complex was quite beautiful. The view was amazing from both bedrooms, the living room, and the patio. We were able to get the jacuzzi to warm up on the second or third day and that was quite nice in January. The nearby Playa Juanillo was a beautiful and private beach that we went to nearly every day. Cap Cana seemed deserted and we almost felt like we were on a private island, especially with the privacy of this end apartment. We had a few hiccups, the sink drain disconnected and poured dirty water all over the kitchen. Once we mopped it up, maintenance came and "fixed" the pipe. For the rest of the trip we had to empty the bucket under the kitchen sink a few times per day. The washer/dryer in the lockout suite never worked for us, but the main units worked fine. The price of the unit was good enough to offset these minor inconveniences. The property manager told us upon arrival that the complex was incredibly safe and not to worry about leaving our doors open. We locked the doors when we left anyway, just to be safe. On our last full day, we returned from the beach to find someone had managed to open the sliding door to the patio and stolen an iphone, ipod, two chargers, two sets of headphones, and the cash in our bag. They left the laptop and passports untouched. They took small items, electronics & cash, that could easily fit in their pocket and go unnoticed. We loved the first floor walkout, but this does make you a little more vulnerable. I would still recommend – and I have recommended this apt to friends for their honeymoon – this apartment and complex to anyone, but if you chose SotoGrande as your destination, please make sure to carry your valuables with you or make sure you have a safe and the combination. Management was very upset by the theft and claimed it to be the first theft in all of Cap Cana, but I would still be careful if I booked here again. The location of this unit is breathtaking! Beautiful unobstructed views. Sotogrande staff (thank you, Domingo) were attentive and very helpful. The owner of this unit was also very attentive and followed up on any questions. Condo is clean, spacious, plenty of room for everyone. The grounds were immaculate and the pool pristine. Very quiet and secluded - which is exactly what we wanted. This was our 6th visit to Dominican Republic and this was by far the nicest place we have stayed. Short walk down the beach to a wonderful restaurant. We felt very safe. We were able to visit other areas of the complex by shuttle. This is the first time when the pictures reflect the true. This apartment is absolutely amazing. This zone, Cap Cana, is the most exclusive place in the whole Dominican Republic. If you want the unforgettable picture in the Juanillo Beach, you must to come to Sotogrande. Everything here is perfect and beautiful. We spent a couple of days in this lovely and beautiful apartment, Cap Cana was a spectacular place to stay at, The home was brand new, luxury, comfortable. and completely tidy. All the rooms were decorated very nicely and the kitchen was well equipped with all you needed. We had such a great time and the place was so spacious to spread out and relax. The apartament is fitted with pool where we spent many hours. we felt so comfortable in there that we hardly though to go out of our apt. The maitenance is absolutely amazing, The housekeeper is so lovely, who patiently kept the house spotless and did our laundry. She was just so friendly and we enjoyed having her at our apt. The resort is beautiful and enjoyed exploring, We really apreciate the peace and privacy that Cap Cana provided and the beach was absolutely breathtaking. We would highly recommend Cap Cana for everyone who wants to know what´s the feeling of being in a paradise, doesn´t matter the how old are you, families are so welcome, as the resort has lots of amenities for children. There are many properties in Cap Cana, but none can be more special than this Cap Cana's apartment. The Pictures can give you a good idea how the apartaments and resort looks, but we realized everything was even better tahn pictures as soon we got the place.
