  Muazzo Palace is situated on a picturesque canal, ten minutes’ walk from San Marco. Having spent a life time writing about architecture and interiors, I can honestly say that it’s one of the most beautiful homes I’ve ever had the good fortune to stay in. The hall/ library, with its hand-carved book shelves and built-in arm chairs, leads onto the capacious salon which overlooks the canal. Antique furniture sits side by side with impressive works of modern art. A large dining table and sitting area can easily accommodate eight people (even more if you want to host a party. This place is made for entertaining.) With its monumental fire place, antique table and chairs and granite work surfaces, the kitchen is a modern take on a medieval kitchen. Top-of-the-range appliances are state-of-the-art and include a gargantuan fridge/freezer and oven that could put a professional chef’s kitchen to shame. All the four bedrooms are generously sized with marble-clad bathrooms of the highest specifications. The bathroom for the master bedroom even boasts a steam room – a welcome luxury after a day walking the streets of Venice. And if you don’t feel you’ve taken enough exercise there’s also a gym. Muazzo Palace is immaculately presented with a real eye for detail (even the door furniture – the handles and hinges - are beautifully handmade) and comfort, down to the soft towels, crisp bed linen, towelling robes and slippers. One of the sad and little-acknowledged facts is that Venice is often over restored: poor, modern materials often ruin these historic buildings and rob them of their character. Not here: Muazzo Palace been restored with a sympathetic nod to the past while including all the modern amenities and comforts you could hope to enjoy in the 21st century. If you want a special place to stay that gives you a feel for an authentic Venetian palazzo then Muazzo Palace is it. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

  This is a truly stunning place to stay. We spent 11 nights here in Feb 2013 for a family birthday get together during the Carnevale. The whole experience was a true delight from start to finish... Jane Caporal who looks after the rentalsl is such a nice lady and so so helpful, everything you need will be arranged. Everything you read is there, the Palazzo is in a location that is quiet and peaceful but close to local shops and the Co-op is nearby. It doesn't take long to reach anywhere, 10-15 mins to St Marks Sq. The Apartment was beautifully clean and spotless, all bedrooms are provided with towels and towelling robes. We opted to have additional maid service and Alina was a lovely lady It is beautifully furnished, the beds are the most comfortable we have slept in anywhere. The master suite is fabulous with a dressing room area, and that bathroom WOW, my husband loved the Sauna shower, I loved to soak in the beautiful rool top bath. All the bedrooms are quiet and have a cosy feel. The apartment was wonderfully warm in a freezing cold time of the year and a real joy and delight to come home too. The kitchen is stunning with a top quality range, which our friend who is a chef was happy to cook us a meal for 10, and how nice to sit down together in such beautiful surroundings and enjoy good food and company together. We had an experience due to a combination of strange weather that we have never had in Venice before. Up to 10cm of snow, coupled with 40mph winds, an Aqua Alta predicted at 160cm (luckily it was only 143cm !!!) thunder, lightening, Ice.. amazing !! Jane texted us straight away to warn us not to go out and how to deal with it. All in all a fantastic holiday experience, we cannot wait to go back it was fabulous. GO you will love it !
