This is the upstairs half of a very nice house in a good neighborhood, with helpful, friendly neighbors. I am usually home downstairs and can be available when needed.
BART is only one mile away to whisk you to San Francisco or Oakland. Or,take a lovely ferry ride to Marin County to stroll through Sausalito. Muir Woods is 1 1/2 hour drive; Lake Tahoe, a 4 hour drive; Yosemite, a 4 hour drive; the Wine Country, only
1 1/2 hours away. I have a lovely, sunny backyard for relaxing and barbecuing when you're ready to relax at home.
I am also open to a property exchange of my whole house, either somewhere in the US, or other countries.

In 2013, my husband and I spent 3 winter months in Susan's apartment. Because of our long stay, she was fine with our moving things around to work better for our lifestyle. The longer we stayed, the more we enjoyed the apartment, and of course Susan who is the world's best landlady. Actually, she started out as a landlady and quickly became our friend. Susan lives in the home below the apartment. We never heard a sound, and hopefully she didn't either. The apartment is spacious (2 bedrooms) and there are wonderful windows on all 4 sides, so even in the winter we had continual sunshine. The location is in a charming San Leandro neighborhood that has quick access to BART and other modes of transportation. Supermarkets, etc. are handy. We will winter in Susan's apartment as long as she has it. We couldn't have been happier.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We came for my son's wedding and it was very convenient for all the events. It was clean and great to have a kitchen to use for morning breakfast. It was also a very quiet neighborhood. We would stay again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Susan, I wanted to thank you for such a lovely stay in your apartment. It was comfy, cozy and PEFECT for my sister and her sons, and me. It’s also located in a beautiful neighborhood and so close to shopping, BART, AC Transit, and but five minutes from the OAK airport. The apartment had everything we needed and even without AC, the East Bay breezes cooled the rooms nicely. I loved all those big windows that brought in lots of sunny California light. The apartment had a touch of historic homes of the East Bay - part Victorian, part Spanish. I am planning to use again next year when I come out (my family lives in the East Bay, scattered along San Leandro, Union City, Hayward, and Fremont).Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

A couple of ousins and stayed here in January 2010 and we loved it. San Leandro is a great town with lost of shops and restuarants and a grocery store 3 blocks away. The house is within walking distance of many of these and a small park too. Also the bus system that takes you to Oakland and San Francisco has a stop a couple of blocks away and two freeways within 10 mins drive. If you're up late and there are no other noises in the house, you might hear one of the trains nearby otherwise it is a very quite neighborhood of the evenings and at night. The owner is wonderful. Very helpful with everything and has LOTS of brochures for sightseeing and also local restuarants. The house has most modern conviences. In the bookcase in the living room, there are several books and even games for children and a DVD player which came in handy since there were several Red Boxes including one in the airport. The whole house is a available occasionally so if you have disabilities then you should inquire about the downstairs availability too. It was a great trip over all with exception of the weather on 2 days and wasn't terrible just inconvenient but 2 out of 8 days is pretty good. I would definitely recommend to family and friends and will stay there again if I get to go back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Yeah, sorry about the weather during your stay. Lately, it's been hard to predict. But, I think the San Francisco Bay Area is so wonderful anyway. I especially recommend spring and fall.

My family and I stayed at this rental property In July. We were quite pleased with the location and the overall amenities the home had to offer. The owner is wonderful and extremely helpful. There is also a neighbor who available to answer any questions in case the owner is unavailable. Both were such a pleasure to meet and I always felt if I needed anything, all I had to do was ask. Location is nice, close to restaurants, freeway access, etc etc.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks, Diane: Hope you'll come again someday. The San Francisco area is so wonderful!

We stayed in this home in March of 2010 and had one of the most relaxing vacations ever. It was so comfortable, private, quiet and "homey". It is close to public transportation to Oakland or San Fancisco and San Leandro is a wonderful little town. The accomodations were perfect! I would recommend this rental to anyone traveling in the area.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We visit twice yearly to see elderly relatives in the east bay area. BART gets us to/from the airport. Susan's place is perfect for our family of 4. The apartment's small but efficient kitchen allows us to cook many of our meals to save money, and the Mexican "supermarket" down the street 2 blocks is a fun and very convenient place to get groceries or snacks. There is no noisy traffic in the neighborhood. A nice local pizzeria is about 2 1/2 blocks away, and Chinese, burger, and Philly cheesesteak eateries, and others, are within 4 blocks. BART and downtown San Leandro are about a 12 minute walk away. Susan is exceptionally friendly and helpful, whether with advice on what to do or with solving any problems that come up. I think she and her garden--and the 2 bikes she lets our boys use--are possibly the best part of staying with her.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Anytime you need to get away from those cold Minnesota winters, just come on out! Always glad to see you. Plus, I now have 3 bicycles available!

we are from ireland,we go to san fran for vacation every year,we stayed at this lovely property summer 09 and we loved it so much we are going back this year.this property is very clean with a beautiful back garden to relax in and barbaque in.ideal after a long day out in san francisco shopping or site seeing at the fantastic muir woods ,or the beautiful carmel.this property is ideal as the area has so much to offer all kinds of restaurants ,bars, supermarkets.lovely walks.and has very good transport to and from the city .the property has everything you would have at home,t.v,radio.internet connection, laundry room.and once your there you feel like your at home,as the owner is so so pleasant and will attend to your every need as she lives on the ground floor,i would recommend this property to family and friends.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Catherine, Danny, Conor and Amy: You've now been back several times, though I missed you this year. I know the economy is bad in Ireland, and you're facing some tough times, just as we are here in the States, but I hope to see you next summer.
