Luxurious Bay Front Home W/Million Dollar View/Private Pier
Year Purchased: 2004
Why the Owner Chose Rockport
We chose this house for its location. Being positioned directly on the bay and across from a canal, it offers beautiful panoramic views from both the front and back. Being able to watch the boats going back and forth and the birds flying overhead is so relaxing. And the sunrises and sunsets are to die for! The sounds that come from the bay are so soothing - there is nothing like the sound of a tug boat pulling at its horn as it slowly goes by at sundown. We also love being able to fish on our own pier any time during the day or night when we want to do so.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Some of the house's unique benefits are its 1) close proximity to the intracoastal waterway and, therefore, EXCELLENT FISHING, 2) private, lighted pier with fish cleaning stand, 3)gorgeous panoramic views in front and back, 4)open layout of the house, custom-built features, and quality furnishings and fixtures, 5) 65" tv set with cable, 6) and Wi-Fi!. We built the house to live in when my husband practiced medicine in Rockport, so it's not your typical vacation home.
Owner's Map of Rockport
I grew up living on the coast and my husband enjoys observing wildlife, so we picked Rockport as a place to work in 2002. It took us two years to find the perfect lot on which to build. Its close proximity to the intra coastal canal provided the feeling of living on the ocean. We were also able to enjoy great fishing year round, see plenty of amazing birds and dolphins, and watch tug boats, sailboats, motorboats on a continuous basis. Our whole family loved visiting us. When our son-in-law came to visit, he would come to bed after fishing all night, just as we were getting up for breakfast! When we had to move to another city a few years later, we just couldn’t sell this house. We hope you’ll enjoy all that it and Rockport has to offer just as we continue to do.

Our family had a great vacation the week of October 16, 2009. The pictures on line are very accurate regarding location and layout. The accommodations and amenities listed in the description were correct; the home was very clean, overall a beautiful home. We had a great time watching the birds, all the fishermen, and boats of all kind going past the house. The only problem was the lighting over the dinner table and that was temporarily solved by the rental agent. The kitchen was great; we had all our meals at the house, no need to go out. We had a very good time.
Owner response: We fixed the light over the dinner table by putting new bulbs in the fixture! Can't believe all five bulbs went out at the same time!

Late Christmas/New Year 2011-12 family rendezvous

With nine people staying, we felt fortunate to find this house for our Christmas/NewYears family get together. We use VRBO all over the world and have never found a better outfitted home for vacation. Typically we have to buy some cooking utinsels or provide plastic ware and paper plates or bring towels and linens due to a shortage of what is normally provided. This home has it all. Any cookware you can imagine. Every sort of silverware and utinsels. You can set out a real feast at this house. The fishing was poor while were there but the facility is none the less fabulous. We brought our own kayaks and searched out the fish and someone was always wetting a hook from the dock too. This is a great place for a fishin family! Beds are comfy and there's plenty of linens and towels provided. We very much enjoyed our stay and intend to return. Heartily recommended! Janice and Rodger
Owner response:We are glad you enjoyed the house. We make every effort to provide the best overall experience for our guests. Most of our guests have excellent luck with the fishing off our private pier, if not during the day, then at night with the aid of our spotlight. Glad you were able to "search out the fish". The area - called Estes Flats or Redfish Bay - is famous for its excellent fishing holes. Come back soon!

We had such a fabulous time! The home was beautiful and my husband and son had a great time. It was furnished with pretty much everything you needed. It was absolutely our best vacation ever! My husband got to fish almost everyday and really loved having a pier right in the backyard! The restaurants in which the owner suggested were excellent too! House was very well maintained. Kitchen was stocked with necessities. Master bathroom was enormous! My husband really loved all the fishing equipment provided although he brought his own. So awesome!! We had such a wonderful, relaxing time! Thanks Camille!! We are absolutely coming back and we'll bring more family next time since it can accommodate more people.
Owner response:Thank you so much for your positive comments! We are happy that you had a fabulous time and plan to come back again. Have a great 2012!

Vacation on Bahia Bay

For the past ten years we have spent our winter vacation in the Bahia Bay area. During that time span we have rented several homes that were very nice. However, this property is particularly special. The accommodation are excellent and "as advertised". In turn, the owners are diligent in always being responsive to addressing your needs. Adding to the "specialness" of this home is its presence on the intercoastal waterway. On a daily basis we are treated to the display of a variety of water birds, dolphins, barges. etc., as well as the enjoyment of our morning coffee while observing the sun rise over the bay. Fishing after dark from the lighted pier is likewise very good as the fish are abundant and willingly take a lure. It has truly been a privilege to have this property available for our vacation.
Owner response:Thank you so much for your thoughtful review of your stay at our home. We are so pleased that you enjoyed the "specialness" of the location, which provides spectacular views and atmosphere as well as great fishing!

Wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at your Rockport home the month of Nov. 2010. We found it very clean and well equipped, the view is to die for, lots of birds, dolphins, boats and barges. My grand kids fished your pier till the wee hours of the morning, caught a ton of small trout they threw back, but every night they would get 3-4 keepers. I fished Aransas Bay mostly, limited on trout and reds a couple of times, never got skunked. The dumb waiter is a life saver when your our age, not having to tote all our gear and groceries up the stairs was wonderful. Having 2 driveways is nice, my wife and I were there alone most of the time, but we had guests a couple of weekends and our family came for Thanksgiving. Everyone could park off the street. Thanks again and hope to see you next year.

We spent a week in this fantastic, well-maintained house. We fished, watched boats and barges roar up the intercoastal canal, and enjoyed birding from the outside porches. This beautiful home has a great open floorplan with plenty of privacy for the bedrooms. In the front you look down a long tropical canal. From the back you take in Estes Flats and surrounding areas. The relaxing gulf breeze, a hammock and a book made afternoons perfect. Greg

This was our first time not to stay in Rockport proper, and we didn't regret it. The house backs up to the bay, which makes for gorgeous views, great boat/bird watching, and fishing. Everything was exactly as described and clean, which was a relief because some owners may be less than honest about the condition or location of their home. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home--we hope to return next year.

Stay: January, 2010 First I want to say that even though we stayed at this home probably the coldest month of the year. We still had a great time. If you enjoy sea birds this is the place to be. Being from Arkansas we don't have that type of bird life. We so enjoyed watching the pelicans dive, feed the sea gulls and all the beautiful herons. We also say dolpins several times in the bay. My hubby enjoyed the fishing. One night we caught at least 40 trout in about an hour. WOW! We enjoyed the wonderful accomodations. They are just as depicted on this site. First Class! The views from the front deck and back deck are outstanding. It's hard to decide which is the best. The owners are very easy and friendly to work with. I would HIGHLY recommend this home to anyone wanting a rental in the Rockport area. We also want to say we enjoyed dining at Paradise Key. Great food and atmosphere. And if you're a cheesecake junkie, try Jamas in downtown Rockport. This is some of the BEST cheesecake I've ever had!!
