My husband and I were looking for a tropical vacation that would be relaxing and tranquil. Pink Sand Cottage on the island of Eleuthera was absolutely perfect. The cottage is perfect for two, comfortable, clean and roomy. There are two outdoor decks and a porch where one can watch the sunrise over the ocean and star gaze at night. The pink sand beach is beautiful and one can walk a fair distance in either direction without seeing another person. Great snorkeling and beautiful turquoise water. Eleuthera has so many wonderful beaches, each with its own unique characteristics, and Pink Sand Cottage is ideally located for day trips to either end of the island. Ken and Adele are friendly and helpful, greet you when you arrive and leave you to enjoy your privacy. So many guests return yearly, and it is easy to see why. Cook your own meals or dine at the unique cafes in the area. Pink Sand Cottage is a gem, and we are looking forward to returning.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Pink Sands Cottage is beautiful. In the guest book at the Cottage I left the comment which is the heading of this review that it is Heaven on Earth - and it is. Pink sands is superbly located right on the beach - intact its 10 steps away. It's a lovely traditional cottage set in well kept gardens making the cottage private and peaceful. The views from the cottage are absolutely stunning and just sitting on the verandah looking out to sea and along the deserted beach makes this holiday home special. in front of the cottage are coral formations making great snorkelling and just 300 yards up the beach is a beautiful lagoon for swimming - so every morning it would be a swim in the lagoon followed by breakfast on the verandah - perfect The owners Ken and Adele provide an excellent service. Everything involved in the booking was very easy (and we live in the UK) but the best part is that when you are at the cottage Ken and Adele will advise you and help you on all aspects of Eleuthera. Whilst they totally respect you privacy if you want help, advise or a recommendation - nothing is too much trouble for them - they are lovely people. In fact when we had an emergency when our flight was cancelled Ken and Adele sorted it all out for us (how nice is that). When we arrived at Pink Sands Cottage we had a full programme to visit all the beautiful beaches of Eleuthera. Whilst visiting Twin Coves beach we just said why are we travelling to beaches when we have the best one with the best views at the cottage - so we packed up and came home!! What you will love about Pink sands Cottage is its superb location on a beautiful deserted beach, the views, the peace and tranquility - it really is a place to get away from it all. We have always prided ourselves in never going back to the same place twice - but we will definitely come back to Pink Sands Cottage - it's heaven on earth.Did you find this review helpful? If you love a Caribbean beach and all the comforts of home do not hesitate to consider the Pink Sand Cottage. The property and cottage are immaculate. They have thought of everything, from strategically placed decks, hot showers ,satellite tv wifi and much more.It didn't take long to feel right at home. it's true, all you need to bring is your bathing suit and sun screen . We stayed for 2 weeks and didn't want to leave on day 14. Steps away from the never-ending deserted beach and turquoise water, we had to force ourselves to take the short drive to Governor's harbour for groceries or to eat a the impressive beachfront restaurants. Property owner's Ken and Adele were very inviting and helpful. The people of Eleutheria are charming. This was a true vacation.Owner response: Kathy & Ed....Thank you for taking the time to leave such nice comments of the cottage and the island We hope to have you back again soon................. We apologize for our late review! It has been a month since we left the Pink Sands Cottage behind on Eleuthera, and are formulating plans to get back. Re-entry was very hard for us after a magical stay in such wonderful place! We are so grateful that we had a chance to meet Ken and Adele. What wonderful people! We loved driving to all the beaches, meeting fantastic and happy people all over the island in our rental car [a must]! A few highlights were horseback riding at Oceanview Farms, Tippy's and The Beach House Grill, Coco's at Rock Sound, Ann's Takeaway at Tarpum Bay, pizza in South Palmetto Point, buying fish on the pier at Tarpum Bay, coffee in Governor's Harbour, Cotton Bay Beach, Savannah Sound, Ten Bay Beach and of course right outside our doorstep was the most amazing walks and snorkeling!!! Thank you Ken and Adele for such a lovely getaway...we left with some wonderful memories. We will be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I've always had a dream of renting (or owning, but let's be real) a place on the ocean. The idea of waking up to the sound of the waves and seeing crystal-clear water is something that I've wanted to do for quite some time. I live on Eastern Long Island, no more than five minutes to the beach, but a problem arises as I never go and relax at the beach itself for very long. Working/living in a town with that access is different than treating yourself and going on a TRUE vacation. Which this certainly was. If you are looking for a place overwhelmingly beautiful, somewhat off the grid, and in a very non-touristy but quaint and interesting town, I highly recommend this great cottage. I work in a highly demanding job with people in my face at all hours. Escaping that to this paradise was my idea of a real vacation. The cottage itself had everything I could have hoped for and more. I work in real estate and I deal with a lot of summer rentals. Where I live there are a lot of horrible rentals out there, with no thought in mind and no taste. This was not that in the least bit and a total surprise. Clean and immaculate overall, the kitchen was very well stocked (I cooked a lot - and bring some dry food if you can, grocery stores there are pricey!), and every amenity you could think of was there. No shortage of beach stuff, snorkeling equipment and movies for late nights. The beach itself in front was incredible, in the week I was there, I maybe ran into six people. When it got windier, I went to the postcard-like Ten Bay beach not too far away, which was unlike anything I've seen before. Last but not least, I can't say enough of the customer service and follow through of Ken and his wife. His directions were stellar (driving on the left AND navigating isn't always easy!) and his response time was always very fast. I highly recommend this and Eleuthera overall, it's certainly not Nassau, but then again, you wouldn't come here if you wanted that. And I strongly recommend this cottage. It's a true paradise that you owe it to yourself to check it (and I hope to come back soon!)Owner response: Hi Justin, What can we say but Thank You! We are so very pleased you enjoyed your stay at the Pink Sand Cottage and the island of Eleuthera. As a real estate person you know the importance of presenting a great rental cottage and thank you for supporting that fact. We hope to have you back again soon All the best to you. See you soon ..... Ken Adele Holtermann ( owners direct .... not agents:>)

Jim and I had a lovely time. Thank you so much for sharing your piece of paradise with us. We had a 'much needed' relaxing vacation. It really was like being dropped onto a deserted island! If you don't leave the cottage/beach area, you probably will NOT see another person. We didn't!!!! It was lovely to have the entire cove to ourselves (well, we did share it with the passing stingrays, fish and sand crabs) Make sure you take sunscreen and bug spray. The no-see-ums only seemed to come out at night. Again, thank you! We returned home VERY well rested and UNSTRESSED!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This little house ON THE BEACH was just what we wanted. We were on Eleuthera for a week and saw no one else on this beach the entire time. Snorkeling right out the front door was great. The house had everything you could need and was comfy and cozy. We enjoyed returning to it after our snorkeling excursions to the many beautiful beaches the island has to offer. Never the same beach twice. This house is centrally located on the island close enough to enjoy both the North and the South ends. You won't have to go far to find what you are seeking.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent a week in beautiful Eleuthera and wish we would have stayed longer! The cottage was very well equipped, we had everything we needed. The cottage is perfect for a couple. We bought groceries at the local grocery store, visited the famous beaches, and snorkeled right outside of our cottage. You are right on the water. We enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of the waves. We had a very romantic trip and even got engaged during our stay! We would not hesitate to come back! In fact, we are already planning to return to Eleuthera next year!Owner response: Thank you Talia & Robert for choosing our cottage for your stay in Eleuthera and we look forward to your return. Hopefully you will be back for your Honeymoon and join the many Honeymoon couples who have stayed with us in the past.... It was very nice to have had you stay with us. Ken & Adele

I can’t say enough about Pink Sands Cottage, it was everything we had hoped for and more which was great since Mother Nature decided not to provide nice weather for a planned snorkeling vacation. We certainly made the best of it and I must say we have never relaxed, read and napped so much. Sue, the housekeeper, called the night we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed and since the cottage is so well equipped, we had no issues. We were able to go to Lighthouse Beach and made stops on the way back before the cloudy/windy/rainy weather set in. We went for rides each afternoon and chatted with a lot of the locals at stops we made. This was our first Bahamas vacation and the cottage made it extra special. Awesome place that I would highly recommend to anyone.Owner response: Thank you so much for the post Sue. We are always very grateful to our guests who take the time to post . Thank you again an it was a pleasure having you stay with us..we certainly hope you return and next time mother natures does not rain on your vacation Ken & Adele

We enjoyed our stay at the Pink Sand Cottage. It was a wonderful cottage with everything you could ever ask for; privacy and a beautiful beach view. The cottage is well stocked with snorkeling equipment, beach chairs, outdoor table and barbecue. It is also very clean. It is more like visiting someones home than it is like renting a place to stay. Ken and Adele are wonderful people who make you feel very welcomed. I have to say it was the most relaxing vacation I have ever taken.Recommended for: Romantic getaway

The cottage suited us perfectly! The ocean right outside the door, easy access to conveniences in N. Palmetto Point, and not being too far from Governor's Harbour and great Caribbean beaches, made the location ideal, too. The list of amenities for a small home was impressive, but how well the home was appointed exceeded our expectations. We are already planning to return next year.Owner response: Christine & Jay, Thank you for your kind words about The Pink Sand Cottage We enjoyed having you stay with us this year. We spent our honeymoon at the Pink Sands Cottage had the best time. We drove around and found the most breathtaking beaches we had ever seen...and we were the only ones on them. The cottage was cozy and perfect for the two of us. We enjoyed breakfast on the deck everymorning while we enjoyed the gorgeous ocean and planned our day. We did a lot of traveling so the location of the cottage was perfect. It is right in the center of the island so we could travel north and south in great time. Ken and Adele (the owners) treated us like family and couldn't be more helpful with our questions. They also made great suggestions so we can see as much as we did. Make sure you read the guest books left in the cottage for suggestions too. (Great idea by Ken and Adele) Make sure you bring food and drinks for your day trips. Then go to the local restaurants for some music, drinks and good food. Everyone we met was so nice. We can't wait to go back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We just spent a week at Pink Sand Cottage and we would highly recommend it to others. It's just as it is represented in the pictures, small but well appointed, comfortable bed, phenomenal views, amazing location, and a fabulous beach. It was spotlessly clean, and had nice snorkel gear, good beach chairs, a portable umbrella, and comfortable outdoor furniture. They have a few different sitting areas up overlooking the beach, a separate hammock, or you can simply do as we did and sit in the water as the tide went out, lapping at your feet and revealing sea treasures and new swimming holes. There are good swimming entry points to the left and the right, and great snorkling all around. We didn't see many people the entire week we were there, and the people we did see on the beach were friendly but wanted their own private time too - so we had a ton of privacy. There was a lot of interesting wildlife, from pretty songbirds chirping in the morning, to small lizards tanning along side you, to a group of Magnificant Frigate Birds flying close to the house, or a school of parrotfish feeding frenetically offshore. You are never bored. At night, the stargazing is totally unparallelled. You can pass an hour on the beach finding new constellations you've never seen. We felt the location was excellent, we wanted a balance of exploring and relaxing - so you're halfway up the island - easy to get to Cape Eleuthera, but far enough up that heading up to the northern part of the island is easily done. There are small stores in North Palmetto so if you run out of things you don't have to go all the way into GH. And you're very close to Island Farm for great fresh produce, and if it's windy on the atlantic side, you're a 15 minute drive to the postcard-like Ten Bay Beach. Only thing you should know going in, is that you really do have to bring everything in terms of the kitchen supplies/toilet paper/charcoal for bbq/etc - don't even count on salt or pepper being there. All vacation rentals are different in terms of the kitchen/bath basics that they provide, and this is truly a lovely rental, you just have to remember to grab all the little things at the store. And also, bring bug spray, I am pretty sure this is constant throughout Eleuthera, but we got bitten quite a bit (not inside, but outside).Owner response: Thank you Adraine for the very nice report on the Cottage as well as the island One thing we would care to comment on was that when all guests arrive there is Toilet paper and soap and there is to be kitchen items like salt & pepper, etc. After the initial supplies left it is then up to the guests to supply there own as that is how all the rentals on island that we are aware of do things . If the salt & pepper were not there it was indeed an oversight on our part and we are very sorry for that as the maid must of overlooked that for sure. We strive to do the best we can to make everyone's stay with us an enjoyable experience and hopefully we will have you return soon to this wonderful island. Thanks again, Ken & Adele

Not everyone is on holiday...For us it is 50/50...and we enjoyed both....strolling along the long beach (in 2 weeks we met today 4 people...), working a little (the internet connection is top), visiting the Island...Snorkeling in front of the Cottage.... Ken is always there, reachable on the internet, if you have questions...It's so quiet around here and it's exactly what we were looking for. The Cottage is lovely with all you need; Great view on the ocean from your bed. TV Sat is also good and American jokes Channels much much funnier than ours in Europe (not always easy to understand thow...) Now, it's soon time for our own happy hour on the deck! Go and see for yourself, you will not regret.Owner response: Thank you so very much for you kind comments! We are very pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Ken & Adele

Perfect cottage a for a couple. Great location being in the middle of the island. Close to restaurants and stores. Cottage was very clean and well maintained. Everything we needed was provided. Cottage has a closet to store your luggage and hang clothes. Even provided a safe for our passports and valuables! WiFi is provided but is very slow. Beach chairs, coolers, towels, and umbrella came in handy cause we were packing the car everyday for a trip to see some of the most beautifull beaches in the world! Of course there is a gorgeous beach right out front too. If the wind and waves are calm then it's great snorkeling right out front, especially at low tide. Only saw a couple of people on the beach. We didn't see anyone on some of the beaches we visited. Don't miss Lighthouse beach. Long drive but well worth it! Alabaster and Rainbow bay had some good snorkeling. We even found a beautiful beach right in front of an old run down industrial plant. Don't miss the Friday night fish fry at Governor's Harbour. We also ate at Sunset Inn and Mate and Jenny's pizza. Both were good. Ate in at the cottage several times. Kitchen is well stocked. Ken and Adele are very easy to work with, answered all our questions. Check in/out was very easy. Renting a car is a must. Getting to the cottage was a breeze (only one main road!) Driving at night can be tricky since there are no lines painted on the roads. If you like privacy, seclusion, relaxing then this is the place for you. Those more adventurous will love exploring the beaches and the small towns. Our trip was quite an adventure, very different from the regular trips to NC and SC beaches. You will love it! We will be back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Wow, what a great place to stay, if you want peace and quiet the Pinksand Cottage is the place. We only saw two people on the beach the whole week and we walk alot of it. The cottage is exactly as you see it in the pictures but better. Ken and his staff had the place in great shape after the hurricane came thru and a bottle of wine was there waiting for us when we arrived. You can't get any closer to the ocean with out being in the water, the snorkling is great right there at the cottage and not far away is Governor's Harbour where you can get food and eat at some good resturant's. The local people are very friendly and alsways willing to help with drections. My wife and i are planning on returning and staying at the cottage in 2012 for her birthday.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We spent a wonderful week at the Pink Sand Cottage at the end of July. It was the perfect location to spend our Anniversary week, allowing us to relax at the cottage and also explore the amazing island of Eleuthera and neighboring Harbour Island. As first time travelers to Eleuthera we appreciated the great tips provided by Ken and Adele and the plentiful materials at the cottage giving us ‘insider’ information about places to see, things to do and the best places to eat. The Pink Sand Cottage is well taken care of, clean, well equipped and the location couldn’t be more ideal. The ‘extras’ like beach chairs, a cooler, etc made it easy and to really enjoy the amazing beaches and site that Eleuthera has to offer. We couldn’t be happier with our stay at the Pink Sand Cottage and might just be back….soon!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We enjoyed our stay, it was so peaceful and we had the beach almost to our self. We say a few people but not many. We snorkeled the whole time we were there and it was so awesome. The fish we saw were incredible! The water temperture was perfect. We felt so relaxed when we came back I haven't felt like that in years. I have back problems and the water was so therapeutic. I was almost pain free from swimming in that water. It made our honeymoon so special it will be a good memory. Don't forget the bug spray. I heard it was worse because the time of year. And bring your own meat. Other than that I was very happy at the cottage.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

Just spent seven wonderful days in paradise!! The Pink Sand Cottage has stunning beauty, unparalleled privacy, cleanliness and attentive and caring owners all rolled into one awesome place!! We took long walks along the beach to admire the beauty of the island and the snorkeling out front was really good with parrotfish, grouper, sergeant majors and a sea turtle among the residents. For an ocean, the water was remarkably calm which we both enjoyed. Be aware though, that paradise and privacy have its price and you will not find an array of dining and car rental choices in Eleuthera. However, we did very well with Naaman on the car rental and Tippy's restaurant featured great food and friendly service. Our best meals were actually spent right at the Pink Sand Cottage itself dining on the porch with an ocean view to die for!! The residents of the island are reserved but friendly and we felt safe at all times. It was great meeting Ken and Adele. They are hard-working, hands-on owners who gave us seven of the best days we have ever experienced on this planet!! God willing, we will definitely return for an encore!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway

Pink Sand Cottage is the perfect place for a quiet, peaceful, make- your-own-fun type of vacation. This is our second rental vacation on Eleuthera and we liked the proximity of the house to the beach, just a few steps down through the dune, and the location near Governor's Harbour. The Holtermanns were just across Banks Road in their larger home and were helpful and informative but not intrusive. The cottage is beautifully landscaped with flowering shrubs, palmetto palms, and sea lettuce surrounding it. There were several comfortable places to sit and read and good beach chairs which we took with us as we explored other beaches. The beach out front is wonderful for walking miles in either direction, snorkeling, sunning, and swimming. Our next door neighbors seemed to have fun fishing, too, so there is something for everyone. We found the kitchen pretty well-equiped, though perhaps a few spices (kept in the freezer?) and a square pyrex baking dish would be good additions. Daily excursions to near and distant beaches included Ben Bay, Club Med, Pink Sand, and Lighthouse. You can pick your beach, Atlantic or Caribbean side, depending on the wind, weather, or your mood. If you like gardens and plants, check out the Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve next to the Banks Road Deli which opened in April. It is a great addition to the island. Be sure to climb the tower and see the waterfall. The Island Farm has many varieties of fresh bread on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Get there early for a good selection, especially the cinnamon buns! We liked getting sandwiches at Sammy's in Rock Sound to round out picnic lunches on the southern part of the island. Some restaurants we enjoyed were Tippy's, Cocodimamas, The Buccaneer, and SipSip on Harbour Island. Catch an early ferry, walk to the world famous (you'll see why) Pink Sand Beach, work up a thirst and appetite there, and repair to the deck at Sip Sip for a delicious tropical drink and chilled gazpacho. The Friday Night Fish Fry was extra special this year with a 'junkanoo' in honor of the Ride for Hope Bicycle event. Just writing this review makes me want to return!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you very much for your kind words. it was a pleasure having you stay at the Cottage with us this year and hope to see you return soon to the island. All the best. Ken & Adele

WOW !!! Sums it up! After tooooo many over-crowded, bland food, cheap liquor, fight to get a beach chair, All-Inclusive giant mega resorts…….. We said, “Where’s the relaxing beach vacation?” We sought out a place that would be peaceful, secluded and somewhere to forget about the busy everyday life. This is it!! Pink Sand Cottage is exactly what the website portrays. What you see, is what you get. The descriptions and pictures are what you will experience. The cottage is clean, well equipped and very comfortable. The linens were plentiful and the kitchen has every utensil you’ll ever need. Scott particularly likes the green plastic bowl. ? The landscaping around the cottage is a well manicured variety of tropical foliage, including a cozy shaded hammock and private sundeck. The porch is a great spot for morning coffee at sunrise as well as cocktails and amazing star gazing at night. The beach is one of the best we've ever seen. Daily we walked miles and miles on beautiful pink sand watching the turquoise water and only encountering 2-3 people per day. We met the owners, Ken & Adele, who are the most genuine people, they became instant friends. We've rented 20+ homes over the years and have never received the sincere care they express. If you're looking for a private tropical paradise, THIS IS IT!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: To our new island frineds Scott & Eve, Thank you for the kind words about our Cottage. LOL about the "green plastic bowl" we are happy Scott enjoyed that :>) Hope to see you again soon. Ken & Adele

Ken and Adele were truly great to work with, starting with the first email questions that I sent about Pink Sand Cottage right up until we left the beautiful island of Eleuthera a week ago. Tons of great advice, an incredibly accurate description of the cottage and everything around it, including the island, and a very warm welcome when we first arrived to make sure we has all that we needed to get started- that's what they gave us. We found the cottage to be just exactly what we wanted and what we expected. Throughout the island, you will see T-shirts that say "Eleuthera isn't for everyone" and that is very true. Just like the cottage, the island is for relaxing, enjoying seclusion, privacy and quiet and peaceful time. Great food (listen to Ken - he knows where to go). Everything we needed for the cottage is there - they have put a ton of thought and work into the cottage (inside and out) and it shows. We wanted for nothing while we were there - except to stay longer.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so very much Charlie & barb for you nice comments. We are happy you enjoyed your stay on island and at the Pink Sand Cottage. Look forward to seeing you both again in the near future. All the best, Ken & Adele

Almost a year ago we stayed at Pink Sand and my memories are still as fresh as the air on Eleuthera. My husband and I loved it, so quiet, so peaceful, yet close enough to whatever we needed. The owners were great and made sure we were comfortable... even provided some food and beverage essentials on our first night to hold us over until the stores opened the next day! The cottage is clean and perfectly stocked - items can be found right where you think they should be. Rented a car from Naamon and it was essential. We bought a detailed map of the island and had fun heading out to explore each hidden beach. Loved PawPaw Beach just down and across the highway from the road to Pink Sand. We cooked a lot at home but the best food find was a little lunch cart in Governor's Harbor at the baseball diamond. Delicious and cheap. If you are lucky like we were, your departing flight will be cancelled and the airline will put you up at the swank yacht club on Harbor Island for another day of paradise. On Eleuthera, you just go with the flow. Enjoy!Owner response: Thank you very much for the post.. Hopefully we can have you return next year ! Best to you, Ken&Adele

What a difference a week makes. Last week we were on the sunny beaches of Eleuthra and now it's back to work and the Colorado cold. The Pink Sand Cottage was the perfect romantic get away. The cottage was neat, clean, comfortable and most importantly right on the ocean. There is a TV with satellite avaible. I don't know why you would watch it, because the reason you're there is to get away from it all and have that special time being alone with your spouse. The grounds and gardens were kept immaculate. The sunrises were spectacular as you sit on the porch with your morning coffee. As other people have stated, the view of the ocean was not obstructed, however your privacy was totally kept intact. For those of you who do not like tan lines or just want to lounge around in the all natural with your loved one, the porch, sundeck and hammock are secluded away from the view of others, however your view of the ocean is still there. Every day we went for a walk on the beach and maybe met one or two other people. The same goes for the other beaches on the island. Do rent a car from Naaman Rolle, because there is a lot to see and there are some great bars and restaurants in the area. Ken & Adele are a great resource of information, so don't be afraid to ask them questions. All my e-mails were answered immediately and were very helpful. We met Ken & Adele while we were there and they are the nicest, friendliest and helpful people you'd ever meet. Ken and Adele thank you very much for allowing us to use the cottage so we could enjoy two weeks of sun, water, peace, quite and especially togetherness. We will definitely be back. PS: No tan lines here. :)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Been home for a week and already wish to be back in paradise. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and a perfect location for getting away from it all. It is very private and not overlooked so clothes aren't necessary on the patio, sundeck or even swinging in the hammock! We only saw 4 people all week on 'our' beach so if you want to pretend to be like Robinson Crusoe this is the place. You can walk for miles along the beach whilst looking for shells and even saw large fish swimming within 4ft of the surf and the full moon shining on the sea at night whilst sitting on the patio with a local rum, was a wonder to behold. We ate in most nights, barbecuing fish & steaks accompanied by fresh local produce and fresh bread from the bakery in Govenors Harbour, yummy! Recommend hiring a jeep as the roads can be abit rough leading to some of the beaches, use Naaman, a real gentleman, the jeep was alittle beaten up but good fun and we were thankful for it. If there is a downside, its the no-see-ums, take antihistamins and rub fresh lime juice on the bites, a very small price to pay for being in heaven for 10 days. Thanks Ken & Adele for the unforgetable experience, hope to be back in 2011.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Eleuthera was one of the best places my wife and I had the pleasure of visiting. We rented a jeep and just drove anywhere we felt like it. Coming home to the cottage was nice. The coral reefs are amazing, we explored many of them and the ones on double bay beach were the best, lots of fish and we even saw sting rays. The best part of the trip was when a large turtle just started swimming calmly with us for a few minutes, an amazing sight. We also found a great beach (by accident) surrounded by rocks, we had to do a little rock climbing to get to it but it looked surreal. The cottage itself is in really good shape, everything inside was nice and clean. Great place to go to look for adventure or just to relax.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just spent 8 days in Palmetto Point Eleuthera at the Pink Sand Cottage and we had a wonderfully relaxing time. The area is centrally located so it's easy to access everything on the island from north to south. The cottage is very clean and well maintained and the grounds and surrounding beach are beautiful. Everyone we met in the towns was very nice and we definitely want to go again. If you're planning a trip to Eleuthera then this is a great vacation rental for two people. If your bringing more people then Ken and Adele also have a larger house next door as well. Oh and one more thing, the car rental person that Ken and Adele recommend, "Naamon" gives wonderful service and great prices comparatively and he will meet you at the airport. He was also available for advice via email or phone during the entire stay on the island. One more note, if you're hesitant about staying on the Atlantic side and feel you'd prefer the Caribbean side, there is a beach on the Caribbean side that is about a ten minute drive from the house where you can walk out at least a quarter mile and still only be in waist deep water that is about as warm and clear as bath water. We went there often among many other places. Just a note, being able to bypass Nassau and fly direct from Ft Lauderdale via Continental was also a good experience just be sure NOT to fly Lynx/Florida Coastal Air. They canceled our flight 48 hours prior to departure and refused to give us a refund. They've also left people stranded at various places because they fail to show up for the return flight home. All in all, we have no regrets other than FLCA canceling our flight and refusing a refund, the stay was everything we hoped it would be. Thanks Ken and Adele for great service and a nice vacation.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just returned from a 7-night stay at the Pink Sand Cottage and we couldn't be happier with our experience. The cottage is exactly as pictured in the listing, clean and equipped with everything we needed to be completely comfortable. There is plenty of reading material available to help you find your way around the Island and give you ideas of things to do and places to eat. We spent several days roaming the beaches and snorkeling in the water directly in front of the cottage where the views are as good as any we found on the Island. We enjoyed several of the restaurants in the area. Mate and Jenny's is a great little pizza place not far from the cottage. We went there twice and chose to eat at the bar where we could have conversations with the owner and staff. They were very friendly and full of information. The Sunset Inn is another nice place to eat or have some drinks while enjoying an amazing view. The owner and staff are very friendly there too. Tippy's seemed to be one of the most popular restaurants in the area. The food was good, but a little expensive. The cottage owners, Ken and Adele, are easy to communicate with and they made the rental process very smooth. We will certainly rent this cottage again the next time we travel to Eleuthera. If you are looking for complete relaxation away from the crowded resorts, then this is the place for you.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The vacation my husband and I had at the Pink Sands cottage was the most relaxing, enjoyable vacation yet! The beach front location was ideal, secluded and very quiet. We walked the beach every day for over 2 hours and saw 4-6 people per day! We felt like we were the only people on the entire beach. We had everything we needed in the cottage. Ken and Adele had supplied a comfortable cottage necessary to have a stress-free vacation. We only wish we could have stayed longer.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent a wonderful week at the Pink Sand Cottage on Eleuthera. Ken and Adele were great hosts, kind and helpful at all times. The sight from the house is marvelous, and its fantastic to wake up looking directly at the sea. It's great to go out for a morning walk on the beach, where you can walk for miles without meeting anybody. The Cottage itself is thoughtfully planned. We liked to cook a lot and had all the tools we needed ... and then some. It is also perfectly located at the middle of the long and narrow island, so one week is perfect for exploring the north as well as the south. Eleuthera itself is a great, quiet island; some of the most beautiful beaches we have seen all over the world we have found here (Lighthouse Beach particularly). It should especially appeal to the more adventurous vacationers, who like to explore hidden gems a little bit off the road, and who like to spend their time on their own. Although with Tippy's and the Eleuthera Beach House, there are really nice bars around. Things probably not for everybody are the rather rough and bumpy ride to the Cottage, and the small but feisty sandflies ... use a LOT of repellent when you sit outside in the evenings. Altogether, it has been an amazing stay, and we definitely think about coming again. Highly recommended!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you very much Josef for your kind words about our rental Cottage and the lovely island of Eleuthera. Hopefully we see you both return soon. Ken & Adele

The Pink Sand Cottage, situated on beautiful and remote Eleuthera Island, is the perfect getaway for those wishing to lounge for hours on the soft pink sand beach right in front of the house, or those looking to explore the endless other beaches up and down the island. The owners are very attentive to detail, helpful, and generous. The island itself is fairly undeveloped, but the cottage has a lot of modern amenities. We would highly recommend this place to those looking for an escape with a little bit of adventure thrown in. If you want a mega resort where you are surrounded by thousands of people, there are probably better places for you on other islands. The best part of Eleuthera (and the Pink Sand Cottage), is the myriad beaches where you can enjoy a little slice of paradise without seeing another soul.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent one week at the cottage. It was clean, quaint, and exactly as pictured on the website. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was well-equipped. It offered reading material and movies, if that is something you want. It is beautifully landscaped and provided much privacy. We saw only 1 person on the beach all week. The beach is very pretty and can be viewed from inside the house, on the porch, or from deck. Pink Sand Cottage is a gem, and in a great location for exploring all of Eleuthera.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The Pink Sand Cottage looked exactly as it appeared on the web site. We had a wonderful vacation. The beach in front of the cottage was fantastic for snorkeling. We entered the ocean to the left of the cottage where there is a break in the reef. There was also a gorgeous spot that I called the "blue lagoon" around the bend to the right. The TV was down and that turned out to be a good thing. My husband and I sat on the porch talking and star gazing. The stars are amazingly bright and plentiful without the light pollution. The restaurants were OK, but that's because coming from New England we're a bit spoiled. We've already recommended the cottage to relatives, colleagues and friends. We are also planning to return ASAP.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent 8 glorious days there. The weather was perfect. The beach time was sublime. We saw maybe 12 people the entire time we were there. The cottage has everything one could ask for to be comfortable. We swam, we snorkeled, (equipment at the cottage, thank you!) we sunbathed. We walked for miles along the beautiful pink sand and some days, never saw anyone. Other days the most we saw were 4 people. It was wonderful. One of the most relaxing vacations we have ever had. And the no see'ums weren't even that bad. But they were there! Collected some amazing shells and sea fans right on the Pink Sand Beach! The people on the island are very friendly and courteous. The food at Tippy's is fabulous. When we win the Powerball lottery (hopefully tonight), we'll buy our own cottage there!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Pink Sand cottage is a great spot for two people - well equiped and a beautiful beach. Sunrise over the oceon is lovely and we also enjoyed a full moon. The resturants are overrated. Cook at the cottage and eat on the porch overlooking the Alantic - buy grouper from the fisherman. We have been on beaches all over the Caribean and Eleuthera is the most private and quiet spot we have vacationed. The roads are terrible but you get used to them. Take books along - don't take many clothes- you live in your swim suit. We had a great time!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

If you are looking for a cozy clean & private rental just for 2 then this is the place. My wife and i stayed here and it was our second honeymoon as we were celebrating 10 years of marriage. The Cottage was perfect and we had all that we needed to make our stay very comfortable. The beach & snorkeling out front was amazing although some rocky spots to get around in some areas there is a cove just a short walk south of the Cottage that is pure heaven. We also enjoyed Ten Bay on the carribean side and a short drive from the cottage. Double Bay Beach also where you can walk for over a mile on the pink sand is an easy walk from the Cottage and was a daily venture for us in the early mornings. We only seen two other people on the beach our entire stay. Had great meals at Tippy's & Capt Jacks for the Sunday BBQ was terrific. Our hosts Ken & Adele were very informative with all the tips & island information before we arrived. We will be back again for sure. If you are looking for a really nice Cottage right on the water ( and we mean that) this is the place for you!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

What a lovely, quiet spot to relax or for a middle of the Island base to explore Eleuthera in a car rented from Naaman. Ken & Adele thought of every detail for their cottage to make the stay feel like home. We should have traveled lighter. We even brought snorkeling equipment, yet there were two sets in the closet already. We used the cooler provided to take lunches to Ten Bay Beach. What a wonderful beach for small children. Just disapointed that a cottage is under construction there. But you can't prevent progress. A walk up the beach is a neat snorkeling place with lots of colorful tropical fish feeding among the shells and sunken logs. They follow as you disturb the sand. We kept the A/C off for part of the evenings so we could hear the waves on the beach. It cools the little cottage easily when needed. Everything one would need in the kitchen is there, and the cooking equipment is in excellent condition. We didn't use the washing machine, but it and the dryer looks brand new. I did hang a few things on the line outside...even clothes pins provided! The mesquitos come out at night, but there are a collection of books to read, and DVD's to watch if you desire. Hope to make this trip again someday. Thank you, Ken and Adele.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I went to Eleuthra in June of this year and stayed at Pink Sand Cottage. It was exactly what we wanted and exactly as described on the website. It was such a great place to stay. We wanted someplace private and romantic and that is what it was. The location could not have been better. The cottage is clean, comfortable and charming. You have all the privacy you want. There are beautiful plants, trees and dunes that surround the cottage and deck. The sunrises were amazing. We cooked all but one of our meals at the cottage. It is very well equipped. Would not hassle with bringing meat or other groceries as there is alot to choose from. Be adventerous and have fun checking out all the grocery stores in the different towns as you are driving around the island. It is very obvious the owners of Pink Sand Cottage take great care of it. We rented a jeep Kia, (recommend) from Naamon Rolle a gentleman the owners had recommended. He was there with the jeep when we arrived at the airport in Governors Harbour. He was very accomodating with the request I had given him about a vehicle. We were able to go from one end of the island to the other, (roads are a bit bumpy, but well worth the bumps.) We found some beautiful beaches in Eleuthra and enjoyed each and everyone of them, Lighthouse Beach being one of my favorites. There are so many beaches on the island that we will have to go back to try and find them all as they are not all marked by signs. It was definitely an awesome week and can not wait to return.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My wife and I enjoyed a fabulous vacation on Eleuthera at the wonderful Pink Sand Cottage. Everything about the cottage was delightful and turned out to be exactly what we were hoping for, if not better. The cottage was such an efficient, tidy, and cozy escape form our busy lives back here in VA. The setting, with all of the wonderful tropical plants, provided great beauty and privacy. We couldn't have been more pleased. While on the island, we took a look at all of the other small cottages we had considered renting, and by far yours was obviously the perfect choice for us. If we have the opportunity to return to Eleuthera in the future, and it is just the two of us, we would plan to stay at Pink Sand. Snorkeling out in front of the cottage was excellent. My wife and I were plenty pleased with all of the fish, coral formations and sea life. We snorkeled quite a few other spots on the island, but I believe the reef areas out in front of the cottage were as good as, if not better than anywhere else we visited. Tippy's beach bar was a great lunch and dinner spot with wonderful food and a beautiful setting. It is highly recommended. Other beaches that are a must see would have to be Airport Beach, Surfer's Beach and especially French Leave (Club Med) Beach. All very beautiful and all practically deserted.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Wow! Where do we begin to describe our fantastic stay at Pink Sand Cottage? The cottage itself was beautiful, cozy and comfortable. We had everything we needed inside the lovely home. We felt we were out on the ocean when we gazed out the front windows and saw the ocean. Relaxing on the front porch watching the waves and the world go by was a favorite pastime. I also loved roaming the beachfront and searching for shells. Perfect peace and serenity. We did explore much of the remote island. Our trip to the Lighthouse beach in the south was rough but so worth it. This beach is gorgeous, with the contrast of rugged clifts and the calm ocean. We also enjoyed Ten Bay and Double Bay beaches. Our favorite was the Club Med beach; long and wide pink sand and incredible crystal clear water. Great swimming. Our kind hosts, Ken and Adele, were awesome. They helped us out in so many ways, including putting together our wedding on the beach in front of the Cottage. It was incredibly enchanting and magical with the sand at our feet and the ocean swirling in the background! A perfect place for a perfect wedding. Thanks so much, Ken and Adele!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I spent a week there in February, and we loved it. Having the ocean right outside our door was magical. The moon on the water was so beautiful, and this part of the island is by far the most lush with tropical vegetation of any area we visited. The cottage was very well equipped and quite comfortable. We saw noone on the beach the whole week we were there, even though there are other properties somewhat nearby. The jungle growth is thick enough that you can just barely see the other cottage nearby. There is so much to see on Eleuthera that we hope to come back again soon.Did you find this review helpful?
