Very seldom do I write reviews, however after spending a week at the Anchor In on Pawley’s Island, we wanted to show our appreciation for the wonderful house and the helpful owners. When you take a group with ages from 6 years old to 75 as large as ours, and no one had a complaint you know you picked the right house! From the time our reservation was made until the day of our departure the owners of the house made sure all of our questions (and we had many) were answered through numerous e-mails and a return phone call about a question we had after arrival. Each e-mail was answered usually the same day answering each question about the house and the area. The house is wonderful! If you love traditional beach homes with high quality bath towels, linens, and a well stocked kitchen then this home has it all. We were so pleased to find the home spotless upon arrival, items such as paper towels, dish soap, and other house hold goods were there for our use. Board games, cards, beach toys, umbrellas, and chairs, plus a small rubber raft that the kids used almost daily. There were great books to read on the beach, small coolers to pack sandwiches. The outdoor shower with dressing area was always in high demand by our group! The house is charming! Wonderful restful colors throughout the house, the 3 full baths were spotless with plenty of room to move around! The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you might need to make a meal, plenty of counter room; extra refrigerator was so helpful for our big group. The screened in porch with the large table and the hammock became our favorite gathering place, as well as the front porch with the rocking chairs. The walk to the beach was easy! The beaches were beautiful and not crowded at all. We found everyone to be very friendly and relaxed! Pawley’s Island delightful! The house even more so! We hope to be back next year!!
Owner response:Thank you for your kindness in taking the time to write so much good information, and the positive feedback for us. :) We also bring family of all ages to Anchor In - sometimes 4 generations at a time. Pawleys truly has something to please all sorts of interests, and all sorts of vacation goals! I can also say that the outdoor shower is a big favorite with us, and the roomy kitchen lets lots of people put together their own fixings, if they want to. We feel so happy when visitors have a good visit. Please do come again!! :)))) --Moses family

My (extended) family has just spent another fantastic week at the Anchor In. This house is very comfortable and just keeps improving. This year the new wi-fi, mattresses, and other smaller touches made our stay even more enjoyable. From 1 to 60+ year olds (and the dog) - everyone could find their niche.. This house is close to everything - boat ramp, public beach access, Myrtle Beach / Litchfield / Georgetown / Murrell's Inlet - and comes with access to a dock for the fishermen. The Anchor In is well designed and maintained. The kitchen and porch / picnic table / hammock deserve special mention - very user friendly and great for parties. Over the past 30 years we have stayed in vacation homes from NC to Hilton Head - and have found none that suit us (our entire family) so well. Thank you for sharing your home with us. GB
Owner response:Wow! Thank you so much for your detailed and warm review. We also think the location is great- you can focus on the natural aspects of the beach and creek, or relax to your heart's content in the house, but you can also head out to lots of entertainment/shopping/outings, very close by! We all love being at the beach, so we try to keep out eyes open for little ways to improve the house year by year. Thanks for your kindness in taking the time to let us know, and it's really lovely that your whole family can get together like that. :) Best, Moses family

We just spent a wonderful week at Anchor In and couldn't have been more pleased with the accomodations, amenities, and location. The beach is picturesque and provides great opportunities for long walks. Several of our group also enjoyed the multiple locations nearby for good fishing and crabbing. It goes without saying that restaurants and shopping choices just minutes away are abundant. A must-see, however, is Brookgreen Gardens, a fabulous botanical/sculpture garden located just 10 minutes away that also includes a nice zoo exhibiting local birds and animals. But, the house itself was the best part. A beautifully maintained classic home with unexpected amenities and a perfect floor plan. Yes, many hours were spent in the hammock and in the "reading nook" you see in the photos, not to mention the wonderful screened porch and deck areas! So relaxing....
Owner response:Thank you so very much for your positive feedback. We also love that aspect of Pawleys that it's such a great nature getaway, but at the same time, anything else you want is really nearby! We're glad you enjoyed the multiple indoor-outdoor porches and decks - at the beach, it's great to have lots of lounging around and relaxing spaces. :) We're looking forward to having you in our beach home again. Best, from the Moses family

nchor In is the perfect place for our family vacation each summer. Our daughter and son bring their children (two each) 3 girls and a boy--- ages 5, 7, 8, and 10.The layout of the house affords each family some separation--especially separating for sleep each night. The kitchen is wonderfully equipped and large enough for everyone to stand around and/or help. Beach access is directly across the street so we don't have to use a car. The owners are the most personable we have ever engaged. They make us feel like guests rather than renters. Shopping at the Hammocks shops is nearby and we all love the Affordables shop ---go there--neat things at good prices! And we always visit Brookgreen Gardens each year ---a fabulous place. Overall, it is simply a stellar vacation every summer thanks to finding Anchor In and the Moses family.
Owner response:Wow! Thank you so much for your generous comments. :) It's really cool to return to the same spot, isn't it - very familiar and easy to just jump right in with all your favorite activities. We also feel so delighted at being just steps from the ocean. You know, it is also our family vacation home, with the fifth generation starting to show up. So, we do welcome you and your children into a place that's also home for us. It is fortunate that the house is roomy and has lots of different areas and levels, so people can relax together, or in their own space. And we like to cook too, especially at the beach, so having a roomy kitchen is a must. Once again, it is very kind of you to take the time to share your warm feelings about Anchor In. Hope you'll have many more lovely years there. :))) ----The Moses family

I truly wanted to Anchor In and stay longer after spending time in this spacious, comfortable, thoughtfully designed home on Pawleys Island. Pawleys Island is a treasure itself with a rich history, not to mention the abundance of wildlife. Anchor In successfully preserves the feel of an old island home and combines it with all the conveniences of today's world. Everyone was ecstatic about the house and the location, from the young attorney to the teenager to the grandparents. We paddled in the marsh, bicycled, golfed, ate delicious meals prepared in the well-equipped kitchen, played games, and enjoyed all the porches. Of course the hammock on the screened-in porch was in high demand! At day's end we could leave our haven and drive just across the causeway to shops, restaurants, malls, shows, etc. We enjoyed an afternoon at historic Georgetown, only a 12 minute drive south. (Be sure to visit the homemade candy store - awesome!) One could just as easily drive an hour south and visit Charleston for the day. The possibilities are endless. We will certainly return - that is, if it isn't rented all the time!
Owner response:Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. No one will believe we didn't specially ask you for such a positive and gracious review. :) But I think you've really covered all the *great* things that make Pawleys such an awesome relaxation-and-recreation place. We do love our old knotty pine parts of the original house, but we're also SO happy to have it in good shape and well-equipped. And the salt marshes are as appealing in their own way as the grand beaches. So much going on there, both large and small scale. The view is spacious with marshes and birds, yet the tiny fiddler crabs are enchanting. And it's so true how close we are to lots of nice vacation sight-seeing and activities, just across the bridge. It's really really wonderful for us when others love and enjoy Pawleys as we do. Many thanks!!!

Our family truly loved staying at your Pawleys Island home! It was a very relaxing week for us, and your home had everything we needed. Our kids and golden retriever really enjoyed being out on the creek at low tide, kayaking, and searching for shells and egrets. Your home was so comfortable, and we expecially enjoyed reading on the porches and swinging in the hammock. Your family has done a wonderful job of renovating the house while keeping the original charm. I can't think of a more relaxing place to be and look forward to the opportunity to stay there again! Sincerely, The Lapsley family
Owner response:Thank you so much! It's such a good feeling when guests love what we love. Pawleys really is about relaxing and being comfortable, and the creek, the birds, the shells, and the hammock! :)

Dear Natalie and Katherine, Just wanted to drop you a line to let you know what a wonderful time we had at the Anchor In! Our 17 year old nephew and his friend bought a crab pot and caught crabs for us for dinner. We rented kayaks and bicycles and had a great time touring the marsh and the island. We met some lovely people who either own their homes or were regular visitors to the island, and they told us about the Pawleys shell (which I found one whole one, and a couple of broken ones). The house was gorgeous, and well equipped. When on vacation, we usually eat out a lot; but this time we cooked every evening! Please think of us when the schedule becomes available for 2009. Again, thank you for sharing your home!
Owner response:Thank you for sending us your positive feedback! It's so nice that you made such wonderful use of your time at Anchor In. The beach air seems to give everyone a healthy appetite, and crabs make a fine Pawleys dinner! Here's hoping you will have a return visit. best, the Moses family

We are just back from a week at the Anchor In with my extended family. I am hesitant to comment because - have you ever found a great restaurant, shop, etc. and been reluctant to let anyone else in on the secret - well, that is that way that I feel about the Anchor In. It FAR exceeded all of our expectations - spacious, convenient to the beach, and great dock on the creek. Truly the pictures do not give you a feel for how functional the kitchen and everything else is at this very special place. You can tell that this home has evolved over the decades to being the very functional and user-friendly facility that we spent such an enjoyable week at the end of May, 2008.
Owner response:Thank you so much for your kind and charming feedback! We feel so warmed when others share our own feelings about the beach house. :) Please come again! Best, the Moses family

Thank you so much for opening your home to my family for our summer vacation in Pawley's Island!! The house was incredible, the landscaping awesome and the weather unbelievably perfect! We felt right at home - the house was casually decorated and felt warm and welcoming the minute we opened the door. The early mornings and late evenings on the front porch and screened-in porch opened our family to enlightening conversations and laughs as we shared our time together. The beauty of the island itself was breathtaking, the quiet sound of the ocean waves relaxing and Anchor In was inviting as we stepped into its doors after a day on the beach, touring Brookgreen Gardens or shopping the local stores. We look forward to coming back to Anchor In next year!!
Owner response:It makes us so happy when people are able to see for themselves just how special Pawleys Island really is. And we've tried hard to make Anchor In a convenient and comfortable place that is also warm and inviting. Repeat visits to a familiar place are great! Many thanks for your feedback. :)

We had a wonderful relaxing Christmas and New Years with family and friends, both visiting and local. Anchor In was the perfect setting for this special time. It is the most well equipped property that I have ever rented at any beach. The Moses' truly anticipated our every need. Many thanks!

We so enjoyed our stay at Anchor In. Our first time at Pawley's, so we weren't exactly sure of what we were getting (the lay of the land and such). The Moses Family has addressed every detail. The home is beautifully equipped and decorated with plenty of space for all. We look forward to a return trip to Anchor In! Cheers!
Owner response:Thank you so much! We enjoy Anchor In and Pawleys so much, also, so we are truly excited when others discover what a special place it is. :)
