Bear Valley is a year round mountain resort area off of Highway 4 . Located between Lake Tahoe to the north and Yosemite to the south, Highway 4, a National Scenic Highway, provides quick and easy access to the Central Sierra without the traffic often experienced in Tahoe or Yosemite.
Summer visitors find a peaceful area with numerous mountain lakes, plenty of hiking and biking (road and mountain), fishing and boating opportunities, music festivals and easy access to wilderness. In winter, the Bear Valley Mountain Resort offers downhill skiing and snowboarding while Bear Valley Cross Country and Adventure Company provides groomed trails for cross country skiing.
Bear Pause is an A-Frame chalet with one queen size bedroom and a bunkroom for four, a newly remodeled kitchen and ample living area on the main floor with two full baths. The upstairs features a large bedroom suite with a queen size bed and private bar overlooking the forest through glass. Adjoining the bedroom is a den complete with futon and additional loft space above. The home sleeps eight comfortably in beds. Using the futon and an inflatable mattress a total of ten can be accommodated in comfort.
In the summer you can drive directly to the door of Bear Pause. In winter, the roads of Bear Valley are not plowed and homes are accessed on foot or by snowmobile, adding a bit of rustic adventure to your stay! The house is about a quarter mile walk up Bear Valley Road and we have sleds available at the home so you can transport your gear or you can rent snowmobiles from Bear Valley Snowmobile for an additional fee. |
