Great apartment in old town location

Guest: star1 (Denham England)
Date of Stay: 11/04/11 Review Submitted: 12/23/11

The apartment is in a great location - minutes from the restaurants and an easy walk to the buses and train station. The steps to the apartment were a bit daunting however we did get used to them! The apartment itself was spotlessly clean and well equipped - lots of towels and linens and a full kitchen just as the photos show Erin was extremely helpful and made the booking process very easy. We have visited Villefranche quite a few times but still really enjoyed trips to Nice and Monaco Cant wait to visit again!

Fantastic Apartment in one of most beautiful spots in the world

This was our third trip to Villefranche - we love this charming little town - our first stay in Erin's flat. The apartment was charming. It was quite comfortable, roomy, clean, and well equipped with everything we needed. We were amazed by the close proximity to shops and restaurants, train station, and the beach. After spending a week in Paris, it was wonderful to relax in this little town, and Erin's flat was just the right place for it. We will be back!

Perfect for Families

Date of Stay: 08/04/11 Review Submitted: 08/25/11

We stayed at this charming, well maintained apartment and it was perfect in accommodating all of our needs. We were five in total with 2 children. There were plenty of space, and the well equipped provided us with meals and snacks to pack picnics for the next days adventures. It was so close to all the restaurants, shopping, amentities that it truly made one feel like a local. The beach was so easy to get to especially with all the beach toys they wanted to down which were graciously, and appreciatedly, provided in the apartment. The train was so easy to use and accessible we enjoyed many excursions along the Cote d'Azur. The stairs leading to the apartment were quirky but in the end provided a little comic relief and many stories. Just be careful and use the lights! :) I can not write enough about this apartment - we will be back! Villefranche-sur-mer is the perfect little community and so close to NIce without having to stay in NIce. Even as the cruiseships evaded our little harbour it rarely seemed crowded. Thank you to Erin for making this rental avaialble and being so easy to work with! You were wonderful. Thank You!

Ultimate Relaxation in Villefranche Sur Mer!

Our family of five were able to completely relax while staying at this fantastic Apartment for a week. We were amazed at it's proximity to the beach and the train as well as pleasantly surprised by all the great restaurants just a stone's throw from the front door. Suffice it to say, we did not have to venture far to find everything we needed to really enjoy the Riviera. We took in the Bastille Day Celebrations (the night before) just down on the waterfront - after having experienced a crazy thunderstorm that afternoon. Fabulously decorated boats and crew throwing flowers at onlookers and the terrific fireworks display were enjoyed by all. This apartment is well stocked with beach paraphernalia and the cold beer and bottle of Rose in the fridge on our arrival were a also pleasant surprise! This was our favourite stop on our month long adventure in France. Thanks!

A very relaxed two week stay in a spacious apartment in a prime location.

Guest: Penny (New Zealand)

The location is exactly as described situated quietly in the pedestrianised area of Villefranche-sur-mer yet only a hop skip and a jump to the waterfront, cafes restaurants and the train station, The entrance stairway is a little difficult to climb up with cases but we soon got used to going up and down as we came and went during our stay but you do need to watch your step! The apartment was clean and well presented with plenty of linen, a well equipped kitchen, good washing and drying facilities for clothes, and easy free internet connection. I am not sure if I would like to stay in the second bedroom which doesn't have any window but is otherwise spacious and worked perfectly as a place to put our cases and have friends to stay for 3 nights from the U.K. The owners who live in the USA were great to deal with and very helpful in answering all our questions. They particularly recommended a family restaurant called "La Serre" and we visited it a couple of times and found it really great for an in-expensive night out and warm friendly service. Our other favourite was "Les Garcons" - a bit more sophisticated and expensive but excellent food. My hysband enjoys cooking so we ate in quite a lot and found the kitchen and dining area worked really well for us. All in all a very enjoyable stay and we would go back there if we return to Villefranche.

Great apartment in a perfect spot in Old Town Villefranche. We loved our stay here. We were 3 women traveling together and had plenty of room to spread out. Perfect for families or group of women! The apartment was gorgeous, exactly like the pictures you see on the website. Erin the owner was so nice and helpful with questions regarding the area and apartment. The steps are not that bad, I actually found they added charm to the setting. We highly recommend this apartment and would definately stay there again!!!

We just came back from our trip to France and I cant say enough about how wonderful this apartment is! I couldnt have been more thrilled with the size, location and how clean it was! Its situated close to the waterfront in the old town with the beach and restaurants just steps away. My boyfriend and I traveled with our three kids and we were all more than comfortable. The kitchen is great and has everything you need. The owners are really helpful and made me feel very comfortable as I was a bit nervous not having seen the place first. We look forward to going back next year!

We loved our stay in Villefranche and in this apartment. It's quite roomy and well equipped, with lovely shops around (including a lovely grocer a block away), steps to the harbor and minutes to Nice. The owner was helpful and generous with the rental and with our personal needs while we were there. So much better than an impersonal, expensive hotel and WAY more space and amenities. The steps to the apartment are formidable, but I think that is covered in the description...just maybe not for anyone with physical limitations. The train is just a quick walk away and takes you all along the coast from Ventimiglia Italy (great shopping) to the east....to Canne and beyond on the west...for a song! Our favorite excursion was to adorable Antibes, but we were grateful each evening to come home to the charming Villefranche and the very comfortable apartment.

Agree with all the positive coments -- which did influence my choice of place for my college-age daughter and I to stay. Apartment very spacious and kitchen very well equipped with lots of staples on hand. DVDs and other entertainment appreciated by daughter. Great location in old town; super easy to mix in with the locals. The stairs are daunting but typical of all the buildings in the village and the fact that the apartment is a very modernized but ancient space adds to its charm. We felt very relaxed and at home the whole time there. Would defintiely recommend to anyone or return myself (if only!).

It was truely a pleasure staying in this apartment. There were 3 girls in this apatment and there was moew than enough room for all of us! The location is fantastic, right in the heart of the old town, in the well known Rue de Poillu pedestrain street. We were a 5 minute walk from the beach and surrounded by wonderful restaurants. It was also a 5 minute walk from the train station, giving us easy access to our many day trips, including Nice, Monaco, Eze (NOT to be missed!!), Italy, and St. Raphael, where we caught an all day catamaran trip down the coast of the Riviera. We took advantage of the kitchen and stored snacks and drinks, which was much cheaper than buying everything on our way to the beach. We even had pizza delivered one night (because we all speak French, don't attempt if you don't!). I look forward to returning to this apartment, because I will most definately be back! The owners were fantastic and so easy to work with!!! I highly reccommned this location!!

This was my first France and European visit and one of the big ‘0’ birthdays for me. After 3 days in Paris we took the fast train to Nice and transferred to the local 10-minute Ventimille train ride to Villefranche-sur-Mer. The flat could accommodate a small family, but this trip, it was just my husband and myself so it felt like our own little home in a terrific Cote d’Azur location ~ a block or two away from to fine and casual dining – pizza, Asian, Mediterranean and more; gelato, a small grocery store, patisserie, and a chartucerie are nearby and a small morning farmer’s market too. The kitchen is very well equipped if you want to cook and eat in. The beach and train station are within a short walking distance. We did not rent a car on this trip as the train and convenient buses took us everywhere we wanted to explore on this week stay. I hope to be a visitor again soon to the delightful Cote d’Azur and this charming home and location. Thank you Erin ~ our trip was super in every way. It was so easy to plan with your help. I will always remember this special time.

The apartment in Villefranche-sur-mer was a wonderful spot for our recent vacation. It was 3 girls in the flat and felt like there was space for 8! It felt nothing like a French hotel....the beds were comfy, the television with DVD player (and some dvds left there) was nice (and had a few english channels), the kitchen was great (cooked one meal, bought packs of cokes and waters to chill to save on the ridiculously high prices, kept leftovers), the wineglasses were used up often and cleaned in dishwasher, the beach accessories saved us money (balls, floats, parasols, etc), the 2nd toilet was great (though one shower was the one downside and rate-limiting factor to getting ready), and the air conditioning was a gift from God in the August heat! The town is safe, with a great beach, and picturesque. The location was wonderful, allowing us half-day to day-long excursions to St. Jean-Cap-Ferrat (the ville Ephrussi is amazing, gardens a must-see!), Nice, Cannes, Antibes, St. Raphael, Vintamiglia (in Italy...has huge open air market every friday till 3 or 4 in the summer), Monaco (must do the Casino), and Eze-le-village (so quaint yet so cool). I only wish we could stay more than 10 days to get a chance to take a boat to Corsica, or venture further into Italy. Another time for sure. The owners bent over backwards and were very patient in helping us schedule and pay for the trip. We look forward to heading back in the future...and plan to strongly consider trips to their other destinations just to use their homes. I genuinely recommend this to anyone planning to travel to the south of france. Only warning is that the stairwell is not for people using canes or walkers....but was one of the funnest parts! So unique! And one piece of advice....try "Le Grignotiere" down the Rue Obscure. Has a wonderful duck, great foie gras, and fabulous garcons (and chefs!). Being serenaded by troubadours in front of the restaurant was a highlight for sure!

Staying in Villefranche was a wonderful experience. We loved, loved it and the flat was everything we had hoped for. We especially appreciated the air conditioning and the washer and dryer. We must warn about the steps leading up to the flat but if you are up to the challenge it is so worth it!! We hope to be back sooner than later.

We had a wonderful time and would go back and stay again. The flat was just as it described and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. The place was clean and very close to merchants (but not too close), the water area with the restaurants and beach, bus and train. The flat was supplied with anything we would need including an old movie with Grace Kelly which was fun to watch as we did go to Monte Carlo and Monaco. The only thing we would have liked to know about was the front stairs, but we adapted to them. It was fun hanging our clothes out on the line in front and watching the man water clean the cobblestone streets in the morning. All of it was great. Thanks.

A beautifully appointed apartment on a quiet street in the Vielle Ville. The rooms are spacious, very comfortably and completely furnished. Best of all, the place was very, very clean (big deal for me). Tired travelers when we arrived, we felt very welcome and well cared-for (the complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us was soothing, indeed). Everything was just as advertised. We loved walking around the old town, heading to the bakery first thing in the day for provisions and generally soaking up the life of this picturesque village. We made all our arrangements online, for the booking, deposits and security. If this gives you pause, our experience is that the owners of this apartment were responsive, timely and people of their word. I would gladly work with them again to arrange a vacation rental. Villefranche provides the best of both worlds: easy access by bus to Nice and other urban locations and the pleasures of a small village set in a more secluded cove. Don't miss the perched villages just north of Nice.

"Myself and my long suffering husband spent a 4 day break in Villefranche sur mer in early May. The photos on the website are very accurate and the place is spotless and excellently furnished. This apartment offers the best of both worlds. Situated close to the waterfront in the old town, it has neither the noise of traffic nor the bluster of the great restaurants on the waterfront. Yet, the beach and these same restaurants are just a stones throw away. We landed at Nice airport and got the 98 bus and 80 bus the V'franche and were 35 minutes in transit. The local train station (with its magical train ride thru' Cannes, Antibes, Monaco) are 3 minutes from your door. A perfect place for a car-less trip to this wonderful area- without the headache of parking. The owners are really helpful and the whole experience was very pleasant adding to great break away. Highly recommended!

I’m a little late posting this. Our family of five visited Germany, France & Italy this past June 2008. The week we spent in Villefranche was the most relaxing and enjoyable leg of our journey by far. Spent a few days at the beach just soaking it all in – pretty easy walk & the kids couldn't get enough time in the clean, clear, warm water. We started each day walking left from the flats entrance a few steps to take in the spectacular view of the harbor; then off to the bakery or butcher etc. to pick up the fresh local offerings. Used the very functional kitchen quite a bit and everything worked well. Plenty of room for the five of us. The beds were comfortable and the dining area, laundry, wireless Internet & television were convenient and user friendly. The location proved to be a great pivot point for our day trips to Monaco, then Nice and other points west. So glad we chose this apartment in Villefranche over much larger and impersonal locations like Nice and Monaco. Villefranche is really a magical place and we look forward to coming back to this great apartment.

We couldn't be happier with our stay here - the location was perfect! Villefranche is beautiful and romantic and with the train station just a 5 minute stroll away that can whisk you to all the sights of the French Riviera, who could ask for more? Be forewarned though, you may never want to leave! If you should decide to venture out though, after a busy day of sightseeing, it was lovely to retire to a clean, comfortable flat with all the comforts of home. Our host could not have been more gracious, answering all our questions about the region and offering great travel tips of her own. There is also a property manager locally in case you have a problem with anything (we didn't). We can't wait to return, and hope to do so soon and often.

We just got back from spending two wonderful weeks in France, one in Ville Franche-sur-mer and the other in Paris. Our stay in the south was incredible. The apartment was exactly what we wanted. Situated in a small village, yet close to all the attractions. The apartment was clean, modern, spacious and well equiped. Located on a quiet pedestrian street, yet close to the beach and local shops and restaurants - it was a perfect location. Having a kitchen really helped, especially with breakfast. It was also nice to have the DVDs so that we could unwind after a day of sight seeing. The AC was useful a couple of nights when it was a little hot. Living with the locals was so much more enjoyable that staying at a hotel. We rented a car, and there was no problem finding parking at the citadel or on the street just behind. The location was perfect for day trips around this part of France. I'd highly recommend this rental. What a wonderful trip.

My wife and I, along with our 2 daughters spent 8 wonderful nights in Villefranche. The apartment exceeded all our expectations. The weather was quite warm, but the AC units in the bedrooms made sleeping comfortable. The apartment is beautifully, and tastefully decorated and has everything you could ask for. It really felt like home. Each morning, I wondered to the local bakery (2 min walk) and picked up breakfast. Just about everything is within a 10 minute walk. We look forward to visiting Villefranche and staying in your beautiful apartment soon.

It was my great pleasure to spend ten nights in this property in early March 2008. I highly recommend it. Centrally located in Ville Franche within a 5-10 minute walk to the train station, restaurants, grocery, beach, pubs, and news stand yet on a very quiet and safe pedestrian street. The apartment is well maintained, fully equipped, clean, quiet, and comfortable. I slept like a contented baby!! I had great fun shopping and preparing meals in the beautiful kitchen area. Public bus service (an easy ten minute walk) provided frequent connections to Nice and Monte Carlo. Ville Franche is away from the crowds but with easy transportation access if you feel you must be in the mix. But, my recommendation is to just chill and drink in the sites and relaxed atmosphere in Ville Franche. I would also note that the owner was a pleasure to work with in arranging my booking.

What a wonderful vacation! Many friends have asked for the contact information based on our description. The bed was so comfortable-best sleep I've had in years in the quiet flat. I've decided to buy a European bed. The location couldn't be better - the heart of a quaint oceanside village. Every time we stepped out I would take pictures, even of the same scenes again and again because they were so beautiful and different with the morning, afternoon and evening light. In the morning I would walk a block to the bakery and get fresh bread. Not down the street but down a cute stone pathway - like walking down a scene in a painting. Ville Franche and the other quaint villages we visited by train are so quaint and all in wonderful pastel colors. There must a law requiring the shutters to be green or blue because they were everywhere. The buildings are extremely rustic but the interiors are modern. The flat was beautiful. A great place to come to at the end of every day. It was the best of both worlds. I didn't want to come back. Claudia

We took our three daughters over Spring Break, March, 2008. The apartment and Villefranche were the perfect home base for us. We loved walking down the street to get breakfast at the boulangerie every morning. We used the kitchen quite a bit, mostly breakfasts and dinners. It took us a couple of days to realize that there was satellite TV, but we were so glad when we did. We were ready to hear some news in English! The DVD movie selection provided was perfect for our family viewing and pertained to the area. We did rent a car, which we had to try to find parking each evening--free, by the Citadel. It was a short walk to the apartment. You may want to have someone pull a little closer to the apartment to drop off luggage instead of wheeling it to the apartment from the Citadel. It was lovely having a washing machine and dishwasher. The apartment had all the little niceties that you didn't have to buy: salt/pepper, coffee & filters, sugar, tea bags, etc. Look for the reusable grocery bags inside the wall cupboard--you'll need to take them with you when going to the Casino Marches. We loved going to market days in Villefranche, and other cities. The Apartment was very accomodating for five and we would definetly stay there again. We wouldn't want to redo the trip or accomodations in anyway. Well, except make sure that we ate lunch by 3:00 p.m. everyday! If you don't eat lunch between 1:00-3:00p.m. you'll be hungry until 7:30 p.m. or 8:00 when the restaurants are ready for dinner! Maxi's Pizza is a great backup when you are too tired to go out or cook!

What a great place to call "home" while visiting the French Riviera. We loved it! It was so comfortable; from the wonderful kitchen to the apropos DVDs we watched occasionally. We cooked dinner almost every night in the well- equipped kitchen, shopped at the little Casino market down the street for groceries and loved the bakery up the hill just past the church. Villefranche is such a quaint, picturesque village. We couldn't have asked for a better location. We parked our car up at the Citadel and made the short walk down to the apartment. From Monte Carlo to St. Tropez, we saw so much but, it was always great to come back to this lovely "home". This aprtment made our trip so much more memorable. We give it a "two thumbs up!"

This is the place if you want the best of the south of France!! My husband and two chldren just returned from a delightful vacation staying in this apartment which offers the best in location and flavor of the area. The location can't be beat. The street, which is the pedestrian area of old Ville Franche, has fabulous cafes and is one block from the port. Staying here gives you a true feeling of what it would be like to live in a small French town. Ville Franche is perfectly situated to explore the region. One afternoon we were swimming in the sea and the next morning we were skiing in the Alps. What more could you want. We even took the overnight ferry and were able to spend several days in Corsica - an island that everyone needs to visit! The apartment is beautuflly done and provides everything you need. There is even a small bench overlooking the port about 50 feet from the front door - there is no better place to enjoy the view at the end of the day. I highly recommend this vactaion!

This apartment in Villefranche was the perfect base for my family's stay in France. Although the building is over 300 years old, the apartment itself has been thoroughly modernised and it is comfortable and quiet. Its location is convenient for walking to the beach and to shops and for catching the bus or train; we never needed to rent a car to visit other towns on the Cote D'Azur. The rent is frankly less than we were paying to stay at our usual rental at the beach on the East Coast of the US, and the surroundings were certainly more interesting and beautiful. Eating meals prepared in our own kitchen saved us a lot of money. I would highly recommend this rental property.

We took our two teenage boys to Villefranche-sur-Mer with us, and your flat was every thing that we needed for a great vacation: it's spacious, clean, and we wish we had that nice of a kitchen in our home. The town is one of the most beautiful places we've ever been to, and has more great restaurants than we could sample in one week. It's close to a lot of great day trip locations, and the flat is very close to the train station and bus stop. We'd love to go back some day!

Thank you for sharing your flat in Villefranche with us! We arrived at the train station and were relieved to discover that the flat was a few minutes walk right down the road. It was so convenient, we went on a .day trip. at least every other day, riding the train to different towns along the coast. The flat itself had plenty of room for our family and we felt right at home. Over the three weeks when we weren't on the beach or exploring, we spent a lot of time relaxing in the flat while our two boys made endless LEGO creations. Sorry, none of the masterpieces was left! Actually, to let my feet recover from all the walking, I went through the loads of tourist information you had stocked up on. We planned most of our day trips based on the information and books you provided in the flat. Thank you! I know we have talked many times, but I don't think I shared with you that one of our family.s goals is to live in a town where you can walk everywhere. So for three weeks we were locals and enjoyed every minute of strolling to the local shops, restaurants, the Citadel and museums, the tasty boulangerie/patisserie up the hill, the internet cafe the best Happy Hour in town, and of course our little grocer (bring your own bag). Thank you for the great memories and hopefully you will see us again in the future! We got very familiar with Villefranche over our visit. If any future clients would like to contact us to ask about restaurants or excursions or what things we should have packed.
