The Four Bears Lodge
This beautiful 2000 square-foot home is two miles from Banner Elk. Enjoy the gorgeous view of the mountains and a pond from the huge deck while you grill out on the Weber gas grill. Relax on the leather sofa and enjoy a fire in the stone fireplace (gas). Watch a movie on the 32' flat screen TV with full cable service and a DVD player. Walk down the street and hike along a great creek with several little waterfalls.
Downstairs, this home has two bedrooms, one with two twin beds and one with a full bed, a full bathroom with tub and shower, a fully stocked kitchen, and a large Living Room/Dining room. Two sliding doors open out to the huge deck. Upstairs is a loft with a full-sized futon (very comfy) the master bedroom with a queen bed, and a full bath with an oversized tub and separate shower. There is another TV with a VCR, DVD player, and Sony Playstation2 including several games in the loft area. Internet service is available as well.
Close by you will find the three ski/golf areas, Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain, and Hawks Nest all within 15 minutes, Banner Elk Winery 1 mile down the road, and it is only six minutes to 'downtown' Banner Elk. Blowing Rock and Boone are both about a 25 minute drive.
Sorry no pets please.

Our stay at 4 Bears Lodge was wonderful! The location to Banner Elk was excellent. The house was perfect and had everything we needed. The sleds were nice to have around, especially with all the snow!Owner response: Winter in the mountains at 4 Bears has always been special for us as well. Glad you enjoyed your stay!

Playin' in the Snow!

We wanted our grandson to get to play in some snow. Figured Banner Elk on the MLK weekend would be a good bet. The weatherman cooperated with 8 inches of "Sugar" on our arrival date and then sunny cold days to play in the snow for the rest of the weekend. This property was perfect for our winter getaway. Clean, nicely furnished, great views, close to town (Banner Elk) and the ski resorts (Sugar and Beech). With the neighbor's permission, we had our own private sled hill above the pond. Recommend the Bayou Smokehouse and Grill or the Banner Elk Cafe & Lodge for dining in Banner Elk. We also tried the Frog and Monkey--the food was good, but the service was very slow. If you go in the winter, be sure to have four wheel drive or snow chains. I'd enjoy going back to "4 Bears Lodge" in the summer to visit the winery or in the fall to see the changing leaves. I'm sure sitting on the deck is a nice place to relax and enjoy the view in warmer weather. We enjoyed the fireplace when we came in from playing in the snow. The gas grill is nice for cooking out. The internet and satellite TV helped us stay in touch with the outside world. The owners were very helpful in answering all our questions and alleviating our concerns. Be advised that some of the neighbors have large dogs that roam about. They were all friendly and docile around our grandson, "Duke" even joined us on the sled hill.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are so glad you had a great trip to the snow! Quite a storm when you arrived. Our family has enjoyed the sledding hill over the years as well...and yes the sitting on the deck is great all year round.

We wanted to have a White Christmas in the Mountains, at a beautiful cabin with a great view and a warm fireplace, what better place that the "4 Bears Lodge". This cabin was a great place to enjoy with family and friends. The cabin was equiped with all the confort that we needed for a group of seven. It has an easy access to the main streets of Banner Elk, it is very close to the main tourist places in the area (Grandfather Mountain, Sugar Mountain, Blowing Rock and Boone). Our girls loved it, they had a great time playing in the outdoors, sliding down the hill on the snow, playing with the neighboors dogs. We will defenitely go back again. Thank you to Tom and Pam for a wonderful house.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks! We are so glad you enjoyed our home as much as we do with our children!

The 4 bears lodge was the perfect place to stay for 6 adults attending a wedding in Banner Elk. We had plenty of room and the huge bathrooms with two sinks in each were a huge plus for the girls and their pre wedding preparations. I recommend this cottage to anyone needing a comfortable, clean and convenient place to crash in Banner Elk.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This house was clean, open floor plan, and comfortable. The views were priceless!! The kitchen was well supplied with dishes and pots. The only thing we did not have was a colander; I meant to buy one and leave it but forgot. The home was 2+ miles from Banner Elk, a lovely town with lots of charm. They have a outdoor concert every Thursday night. We were told there is an outdoor concert each night of the week in the surrounding towns. The chamber of commerce gentlemen were very informative. The duck pond and water fall was interesting and entertaining-the path ends at the local college, another plus! We have been in the area several times and the temperatures are wonderful-the locals claimed they were having a heat wave during our visit but being from Louisiana-it was a small piece of heaven. We will be back!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Location
Owner info
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: Pam and Tom moved to Raleigh, NC from Michigan in 1996 and fell in love with the mountains as a vacation spot. We visited often and then finally bought a condo at Sugar Mountain. We upgraded to a condo at Hawksnest and finally built our own home..the 4 Bears Lodge.
Why the Owner Chose Banner Elk:
We love Banner Elk because it is close to everything the mountains have to offer. We are 1 mile to a nice Winery (you can walk), 6 min. to Banner Elk shopping and restaurants, and within about 15 min. of Sugar and Beech mtn. skiing and golf.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Everyone loves our home and it's location. We don't need 4 wheel drive in the winter as the road is not steep and is also great for taking a walk. The open floor plan is great for entertaining, the stone fireplace is great looking and cozy, the kids can be upstairs playing Playstation in the loft or in the flat front yard playing football. There is a great little creek just down the road to hike along. For me, laying in the hammock and looking at the view is about as relaxing as it gets.
