Fabulous two days. Best family vacation ever. Two buildings allow flexibility for day naps and for those who do not snooze. My family barely left the house, it was so comfortable. Everything we needed was there. Glorious kitchen with upscale stove and sink. House was beautiful Bathroom in the house had wonderful tub and stonework. The cabin felt like a family cabin that you are coming back year after year. Beds were very comfortable. Nice sized yard. We walked to Canal Park and to the lift bridge to see the ships arriving. We swam 3 times a day. Only a short walk though the dunes to a beautiful, clean beach. I miss it already.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Everything people say about this wonderful place is accurate. It is neat, complete, and well-done - and the beach dunes are spectacular even in this long cold spring. My family really enjoyed that all the details were thought about and well-designed. They especially commented on how comfortable the queen bedrooms were and the design of the new bathrooms in the main house. We loved our stay here.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We spent 4 weeks at this fabulous home and cottage on Lake Superior. Every amenity you can think of is provided (and probably even some you cannot think of). Every foot in the home and cottage is interesting, something to comment on everywhere, but it is always a "good comment", from the exposed lathe walls going up the stairs, to the rag rugs on the wood floors, the stone on the shower floor, the the mix of furniture, the art on the walls, all the games and puzzles and videos and wifi and dvr and light fixtures, and on and on and on, it is all fun. The beds are super comfortable which is always a concern when renting anywhere. There is plenty of space for large groups, but just the two of us felt comfortable there as well. If you come in the summer, every amenity you can think of is available, from beach toys to wood for an outdoor fire with plenty of seating around the fire pit, to both gas grill and charcoal grill, it's all there. And being on Park Point it is convenient to everything Duluth has to offer. It is just 8 blocks to the lift bridge (a nice walk weather permitting), and all the great shops in Canal Park. You can just cross over the sand dune behind the house and you are on Lake Superior. If you are hesitating about renting this place, don't You will not be disappointed. Whether for a weekend, a week, or a month like we spent there, you will find your stay one that you will remember forever.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My family and I just spent a week at the Park Point House and Cottage, and it was an ideal place to spend time away from home. It's within walking distance from Canal Park and the beautiful beach was virtually out the back door. I enjoyed my morning coffee while walking on the beach and watching the sun rise. The kitchen was our gathering place not only to eat but talk about our day. The older boys enjoyed having the privacy of the cottage to hang out in and stay up late without interrupting us in the main house. The house itself is fully equipped with nice quality linens (bedding, towels) and comfortable beds. The kitchen is well-stocked with dishes and cooking implements and there are even books, games, and movies for those quiet stay-at-home evenings or rainy days. It was great having an onsite washer and dryer and extra linens available. There is a charcoal BBQ in the backyard along with a fire pit which we used just about every evening. I would happily stay here again. This has been our best rental with VRBO by far! Hope to be back soon.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you Deanna, we try to provide all the essentials for a fantastic carefree stay at a location most people don't know about- the fabulous 6 mile long sandy public beach on glorious Lake Superior and right in Canal Park, Duluth.

My family absolutely loved it. We ranged in age from 5 to 43 and we were so pleased with the place. It has an eclectic comfy beach house feel in parts of the house, while some rooms are simply comfy and warm feeling. The location is great, and the kids loved playing in the yard, and traveling the short walk through the back yard, over the dunes and onto the beach. I had noticed that many of the paintings on the walls had the same style and vibe to them, their very nice and fit into the decor perfectly. It turns out one of the owners painted them. The owner was very kind, accommodating, and quick to respond, ready to help. The separate cottage was a bonus for our smaller family, but it turned out nice for naps, and gives us ideas for a larger group some time in the future. We felt so comfortable and relaxed here, the kids really wished it was our home to get away too whenever we wanted.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

My sisters, a sister-in-law and our grownup daughters spent the weekend at this house and cottage. The property had everything we needed and was spacious and very clean. We enjoyed the private yard and firepit and spent some time on the beautiful sandy beach with a view of the city. (It was especially beautiful at night to see the lights of Duluth.) The house is just a short drive or walk to the shops and restaurants in Canal Park. The owner was very helpful and quick with answers to my questions. I would recommend this property to other girls on a getaway weekend or families looking for a place to stay in Duluth.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had two families plus Grandma staying in the house and cottage. Had a great time! Very clean and spacious. Kitchen was well-appointed. Very handy having laundry on-site! A good hike over the dunes and we were right on Lake Superior. Easy access to Canal Park. House is clean, cozy, with wonderful eclectic decor. Beds were comfortable. We would stay again in a heartbeat!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We spent 3 nights at this charming beach house and cottage with 10 family members from 3 generations. Grandpa Ron's 70th birthday celebration, and we could not have picked a better place!!!Amazing sandy beach, house is very clean, beautiful decor & artwork, full kitchen (everything you need), games & puzzles, great location (very close to canal park, but far enough away to feel relaxed and at home)! You will just LOVE it!!! Our girls (ages 4 & 7) cannot wait to go back!!! And while you are there... you MUST have dinner at the New Scenic Cafe! It is a 20 min drive up the Northshore... well worth the trip!!!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

My Wife and I stayed with 2 of our extended family members at this enchanting home! First, the setting reminded me of NE coastal homes with the spacious lots, private sand dunes and wooded waterfront lots. I stay in Duluth often for work in the Canal Park area, yet found myself feeling I was far away from any tourist vibe. At the same time, we enjoyed (a few times) the 15 minute beautiful walk along the Lake Superior coast to the Canal Park attractions. The house and cottage had an "I belong here" feel. It was a clean, well cared for home, with unique and interesting spaces, furnishing and decorating! But you didn't feel like you had to worry about the kids breaking something every second. The owners even had a variety of board games, reading materials and barbecue/firepit supplies. It provided a great mix of intimate spaces and areas to gather! As I write this, I can't wait to go back!! One tip...the house is easy to drive past the first time, so watch the house numbers. The owners are really great to work with and were available to answer specific questions and requests.Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

About the owner: We are a Twin Cities architect and artist who are always thrilled to spend time in Duluth. The House and Cottage on Park Point is our little place away from home to do that. We have enjoyed remodeling and updating the house and cottage and turning it into a comfortable home away from home. It's given us the opportunity to do something a little different that we can share with everyone else.
Why the Owner Chose Duluth:
The beach is like nothing else in this part of the country, it's like being at the ocean. The water is warm enough to swim in, you can walk forever, and the infamous MN mosquito's are practically non existent because of the breezes off the lake. It's certainly a bonus to be a 15 minute walk down the beach to Canal Park or a short drive to the North Shore of Lake Superior.
