Now taking 2012 reservations. In 2011, we were fully booked for the seven months from the mid-March through mid-October so book early.
Treat yourselves to an impressive and beautifully landscaped 7 bedroom home with Horizon Ocean Views with a short 1.5 block walk to the beach. The Dolphin Inn, featured in Money magazine, was recognized for its quintessential beach atmosphere. The Dolphin Inn is pet friendly and has a Fenced-In Dog Kennel Area under Lush Oak Tree.
Whether you’re relaxing on one of the several porches, lounging by the private Pool and Hot Tub while listening to the kids play on the Pirate Ship Playhouse, catching a quick pick up game of basketball or playing beach Volleyball on the private sand court, you’ll be making family memories that last a lifetime.
The first floor has three bedrooms and a Game Room. The second floor has three Sunny Master Bedrooms with private entrances to the wrap-around deck. The third floor, with its horizon ocean view, is the place to gather for meals at a table that seats a crowd, or for quick meals at the counter. The generously appointed kitchen overlooks the welcoming great room with games, DVD’s, a gas Fireplace, and a Large Screen Television with an abundant selection of Movie Channels. The top floor also boasts a King Bedroom with a Private Bathroom and Jacuzzi Tub.
Enjoy ample amenities including Free Wireless Internet, 90MM Refractor Telescope, Free DVD Rentals at a local video store, as well as boat launching privileges at a nearby Marina and Tennis privileges at a nearby private tennis courts. It’s just over two miles North to the town of Duck with great shopping and dining. Head South two miles to Kitty Hawk and you’ll find Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Carawan Seafood Co., Wal-mart, and other conveniences.

Level Two: 3 Bedrooms (1 Master Suite w/Queen, 1 w/Queen, Private Half Bath, and Horizon Ocean Views, 1 w/Queen and Private Half Bath and Both Queen Bedrooms Share a Tub/Shower).
Top Floor: Lovely Living/Dining Area, Gourmet Kitchen, Gas Fireplace, Half Bath, Master Suite with King and Full Bath with Jacuzzi and a Wrap Around Deck.
The Dolphin Inn is located in peaceful Southern Shore, two miles North of the causeway and one mile South of Duck. Southern Shores is the perfect location for a family vacation. Southern Shores boasts large lots, private beach access, marinas, hiking/bike trails, tennis courts, and a golf course. Five other golf courses nearby.
Learn to hang glide at Kitty Hawk Kites. Visit the Hatteras Lighthouse at Cape Hatteras, Wright Brothers Memorial in Kitty Hawk, NC Aquarium in Manteo, the historic Whalehead Club in Carolla, or enjoy driving your 4-WD on the beaches North of Carolla. Shop for bargains at the nearby Outlet Mall. Take the free car ferry to Ocracoke to search for Blackbeard’s treasure. Enjoy fine dining in nearby Duck and Kitty Hawk.

My family and I stayed at The Dolphin Inn during September. Coming from all over Virginia it was important for us to find a home away from home and that is exactly what we found as it had countless amenities and extras. We have been staying in the Outer Banks for many years in many nice places, but this is the last place we will stay- We loved it!!

We've rented this home for two years now during the OBX marathon weekend and it is in a great location with lots of amenities and is extremely comfortable and welcoming for a large group and offers privacy as well.

Having lived, worked and traveled the world, I can honestly say this vacation home is on the top of my list for most memorable experiences. Jorge and Susannah are the epitome of exceptional host and hostess. So incredibly gracious and accomodating, I feel truly blessed to have been fortunate enough to find them and their gorgeous home. We had a mix of professional adults, veterans and active duty military staying in the home, who traveled from all points of the globe to come here. Wow, what a treat! The layout of the home with three levels of living, was perfect for a large group and yet provided enough room for privacy as well. The bedrooms with their own sliding glass doors to the balconies, provided all of us additional freedom to enjoy the outdoors without disturbing others. The kitchen is a kitchen goddess' dream! The cabinets are well stocked with every imaginable pan, gadget, utensil, appliance, and dish that one could possibly need. The comprehensive "welcome book" compiled by the owners, provided answers to anything we needed to know about the home or the area. Jorge and Susannah even discreetly labeled the light sitches and instructions on how to operate the TV's and DVD players in each room. They manage the home to the smallest of details, making our stay so easy as if we lived here ourselves! The outdoor shower is a nice touch to keep from having to go inside to wash off sand or shower before entering the pool and hot tub. The full sized fridge, bar sink and microwave on the first floor are conveniently located close to the gas grill outside. The pool and hot tub were enjoyed by all. Yes...even in October! We were fortunate to have gorgeous 75-80 degree weather all week. We used the beach chairs provided at the house and made the short trek to the beach each day. With the house located so close to the ocean, we grabbed our coffee cups and watched the sunrise on the beach. Best vacation home I've ever stayed in! Definitely hit the vaction lottery when I chose this home for my vacation. Everything was over the top perfect! Many thanks to the owners for sharing their home and taking the time to ensure it's everything they promise and then some!

Our whole extended family including 8 adults and 4 kids all stayed here for a week. It was perfect for us because everyone had their own bedroom, a great pool and play area for the kids and close to the beach! All the amenities that you could think of needing were here! I would definitely go here again.

Mom, Dad, 2 Kiddos, Grandma, Uncle and Great Uncle, Pup and still plenty of space for more! We had a lovely week in Southern Shores thanks to the Herrada family. The house is lovely and so well stocked - a parent's dream! Plasticware, books, movies, baby equipment, gates and so much more that you don't have to worry about packing! The walk to the beach is short, and with the wagon provided, it's a breeze! Grab a covered backpack beach chair, and you're set! A dip in the pool afterwards is heavenly, as the sun reaches it to warm it all day. Then settle in for lunch at the large dining table or on one of the spacious decks. Flat screen TV's in all of the bedrooms, Tivo, extensive cable and a movie library in the main room offer ample entertainment! Our kids loved the bumper pool table, though they had no idea how to really play. :) Shopping and dining are conveniently located whichever way you turn. Lots of activities and historical experiences, too. This home gave us one of the best vacations that I can remember. All we needed, and more, were available to us including a personal call from the owner. What a nice touch. Thank you to the Herrada family for helping us have such a great week. I would recommend this home to any family or large group looking for a relaxing beach week!

The location of this home was perfect. We were a group of young adults, and while the ocean was a little chilly (early May, not surprised), the pool and hot tub kept us outside. We also had a great time grilling and using the volleyball and basketball courts. The homeowners could not have been more accommodating throughout the entire process and after our stay, months later. We were able to cross the street and be on the beach within minutes. Grocery stores, local attractions and the fun town of Duck are right down the street, but it doesn't feel too touristy. Our favorite attraction was Jockey's Ridge, and we ate at all the places the owner recommended—they were great! The property and its amenities are incredible, just as defined in the listing. The home was very clean and had great amenities for the whole family, including dvds, games and beach/pool toys. The kitchen was well stocked with great appliances, and there was more than enough room for each person to have their own bed. There were great views on both levels of decks, and provided great space for reading or setting up a hammock. The home itself is beautiful and comfortable—exactly what one hopes for on a beach vacation. We can't wait to go back to the Dolphin Inn!

Thank you Jorge and Susannah for allowing us to stay at your awesome beach house! You were both so accommodating and it was a special touch for you to call us to see if we needed anything during our stay. The housekeeper did an amazing job. From the minute we stepped into your house, the clean smell surrounded us! The pool and hot tub were enjoyed each and every day! There were 7 girlfriends on this trip and everyone had all positive feedback on their vacation. The kitchen cabinets were all labeled so everyone knew where to return things after they were washed - no excuses for anyone not to help with the dishes :-). We highly recommend golfing at the Currituck Golf Course. Ben gave us an awesome deal for 5 people. We also recommend Rick's Jeep Adventures where you can drive one of their Jeeps on a fully guided tour (Wiley was the perfect tour guide) to see the Spanish Mustangs! My family and I decided to take a last minute trip to the beach. And boy were we happy to arrive at Dolphin Inn. It was a beautiful house with everything you could possibly think off. It is so close to the beach is not even funny. With toddlers it took us about 5 min. It is an amazing house to stay in and the owners are even better. We had such a lovely time there we definitely will have the Outerbanks Dolphin Inn on our top priority list. It is the place to stay. The house is super comfortable and it has great views from all rooms and terraces in the house. The pool and hot tub were clean and very relaxing. It is a great place for young people as well as families with kids. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.We will be back soon!!!!

My friends and I just came back from a great week at the Dolphin Inn. I had my little dog and he actually lost weight from all the walking and running up and down the stairs all day. He was never left for more than 3 hours but we did use the baby gates to contain him. He loved being out on the top deck with us and having his freedom up there. There were just 4 of us so we each had our own room and bathroom. We were able to do all the cooking we wanted including the grill. The house is fully stocked and we didn't need for anything. One morning we found a dead oppossum on volleyball court and after a call to Joe Lamb it was quckly picked up. Pool and hot tub were maintained and we never even saw anyone there. I would defintely recommend the Dolphin Inn to anyone.
