We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Dolphin Inn!! Jorge and Suzannah have added so many thoughtful touches!! 11 of us traveled from New Hampshire and Vermont to enjoy the Outer Banks the last week of April, and it was a fabulous family vacation!! This rental property exceeded all of our expectations and it is an absolute must if you are traveling to the Outer Banks!!!! The Dolphin Inn is a family vacation dream with the perfect amount of space, great lay out and incredible amenities!!! Much thanks to Jorge and Suzannah!!!

Exceeded Our Expectations!

The important question and answer: Would I stay here again? Definitely. It was a GREAT vacation spot. We had a hodge podge of friends and children ages 5-12, coming from as far away as Buffalo NY, and the house worked perfectly for us. It was mid-April and temps were only 55-75, so the hot tub was used everyday. Big enough to hold 5 adults comfortably, maybe 6, provided you could get the kids out of it. The house was exactly as described on the website and laid out in a really useful way. The backyard is really private. Rooms and furniture were up to date and more than comfortable. The house was spotless and all mechanical stuff worked. The top floor was the gathering place and filled with light, open to kitchen, dining and living room tv. Loved hanging out on all the decks/porches. Brought our dog--what a great amenity the outdoor kennel is! The owners were WONDERFUL to deal with! They were so helpful in so many ways, not the least of which was recommending things to do and good places to eat. Can't say enough good things about this place--the owners have thought of everything and they truly care about visitors having an awesome stay. One drawback on the location: although it is an short walk to the beach, the house is on the soundside of the Outer Banks, so crossing Duck Road to get to the beach was a little bit stressful with the younger kids. It's just a two-lane road, but it was busy. Someone more familiar with the Outer Banks would have known this, but we didn't. Otherwise, its location in Southern Shores is perfect: quiet beach, but close to everything for sightseeing and going out; a little less chaotic than Nags Head. Duck shops are within walking distance even (2 miles maybe?). Would definitely recommend this place!

The Perfect Get Away

My parents, my fiance, and I stayed at the Dolphin Inn this March and had a wonderful time. This house had incredible features from the hot tub, to flat screens in every room, to a deck with an incredible view. We love to cook and this house had a great kitchen with some pretty handy supplies. The house has very easy access to a beautiful spread of beach. The grocery stores and other shops are convenient to get to but definitely not too close for comfort. The four of us had an incredible time and hated to leave. We sure hope to get another chance to visit the Dolphin in, ZERO disappointments, a truly perfect get away.

Great Place for a Family Reunion - Even in Winter

We planned a family reunion for the Outer Banks in winter and chose the Dolphin Inn as our accommodation after an extensive online search. The house lived up to our expectations in every way. This is a pet-friendly rental, so I was able to bring my dog. We enjoyed walks on the beach (just a short walk away) and also around the neighborhood, which is very nice. It is on a fairly busy street, but there is a paved trail that parallels the street right in front of the house. We used that for walking the dog and for long exercise walks. The kids loved the pirate ship playscape and sand volleyball court in the back yard. The hot tub was great on a cold winter evening. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The grocery stores are close by. The location is great for exploring the Outer Banks. We visited Jockey's Ridge, the Corolla Lighthouse and we loved our guided tour of the Wild Horse Sanctuary. The house is clean, attractive and fully furnished and the 7 bedrooms provided plenty of room for us, our kids and grandkids. The owners were hospitable and very helpful, with lots of info in the house about area attractions, where to go for pizza, videos, etc. There were also games, puzzles, and a huge library of movies, including lots of kids' movies. We plan to return to the Dolphin Inn. We had a wonderful winter vacation there and now we want to try it in summer. I recommend it without hesitation! Can't wait to see the new tile floors!

We've rented this home for two years now during the OBX marathon weekend and it is in a great location with lots of amenities and is extremely comfortable and welcoming for a large group and offers privacy as well.

Ultimate Vacation Home!

Having lived, worked and traveled the world, I can honestly say this vacation home is on the top of my list for most memorable experiences. Jorge and Susannah are the epitome of exceptional host and hostess. So incredibly gracious and accomodating, I feel truly blessed to have been fortunate enough to find them and their gorgeous home. We had a mix of professional adults, veterans and active duty military staying in the home, who traveled from all points of the globe to come here. Wow, what a treat! The layout of the home with three levels of living, was perfect for a large group and yet provided enough room for privacy as well. The bedrooms with their own sliding glass doors to the balconies, provided all of us additional freedom to enjoy the outdoors without disturbing others. The kitchen is a kitchen goddess' dream! The cabinets are well stocked with every imaginable pan, gadget, utensil, appliance, and dish that one could possibly need. The comprehensive "welcome book" compiled by the owners, provided answers to anything we needed to know about the home or the area. Jorge and Susannah even discreetly labeled the light sitches and instructions on how to operate the TV's and DVD players in each room. They manage the home to the smallest of details, making our stay so easy as if we lived here ourselves! The outdoor shower is a nice touch to keep from having to go inside to wash off sand or shower before entering the pool and hot tub. The full sized fridge, bar sink and microwave on the first floor are conveniently located close to the gas grill outside. The pool and hot tub were enjoyed by all. Yes...even in October! We were fortunate to have gorgeous 75-80 degree weather all week. We used the beach chairs provided at the house and made the short trek to the beach each day. With the house located so close to the ocean, we grabbed our coffee cups and watched the sunrise on the beach. Best vacation home I've ever stayed in! Definitely hit the vaction lottery when I chose this home for my vacation. Everything was over the top perfect! Many thanks to the owners for sharing their home and taking the time to ensure it's everything they promise and then some!

Wonderful family vacation home!

Our whole extended family including 8 adults and 4 kids all stayed here for a week. It was perfect for us because everyone had their own bedroom, a great pool and play area for the kids and close to the beach! All the amenities that you could think of needing were here! I would definitely go here again.

A Family's Dream Vacation House

Mom, Dad, 2 Kiddos, Grandma, Uncle and Great Uncle, Pup and still plenty of space for more! We had a lovely week in Southern Shores thanks to the Herrada family. The house is lovely and so well stocked - a parent's dream! Plasticware, books, movies, baby equipment, gates and so much more that you don't have to worry about packing! The walk to the beach is short, and with the wagon provided, it's a breeze! Grab a covered backpack beach chair, and you're set! A dip in the pool afterwards is heavenly, as the sun reaches it to warm it all day. Then settle in for lunch at the large dining table or on one of the spacious decks. Flat screen TV's in all of the bedrooms, Tivo, extensive cable and a movie library in the main room offer ample entertainment! Our kids loved the bumper pool table, though they had no idea how to really play. :) Shopping and dining are conveniently located whichever way you turn. Lots of activities and historical experiences, too. This home gave us one of the best vacations that I can remember. All we needed, and more, were available to us including a personal call from the owner. What a nice touch. Thank you to the Herrada family for helping us have such a great week. I would recommend this home to any family or large group looking for a relaxing beach week!

Thank you Jorge and Susannah for allowing us to stay at your awesome beach house! You were both so accommodating and it was a special touch for you to call us to see if we needed anything during our stay. The housekeeper did an amazing job. From the minute we stepped into your house, the clean smell surrounded us! The pool and hot tub were enjoyed each and every day! There were 7 girlfriends on this trip and everyone had all positive feedback on their vacation. The kitchen cabinets were all labeled so everyone knew where to return things after they were washed - no excuses for anyone not to help with the dishes :-). We highly recommend golfing at the Currituck Golf Course. Ben gave us an awesome deal for 5 people. We also recommend Rick's Jeep Adventures where you can drive one of their Jeeps on a fully guided tour (Wiley was the perfect tour guide) to see the Spanish Mustangs! incredible home, incredible stay!

The location of this home was perfect. We were a group of young adults, and while the ocean was a little chilly (early May, not surprised), the pool and hot tub kept us outside. We also had a great time grilling and using the volleyball and basketball courts. The homeowners could not have been more accommodating throughout the entire process and after our stay, months later. We were able to cross the street and be on the beach within minutes. Grocery stores, local attractions and the fun town of Duck are right down the street, but it doesn't feel too touristy. Our favorite attraction was Jockey's Ridge, and we ate at all the places the owner recommended—they were great! The property and its amenities are incredible, just as defined in the listing. The home was very clean and had great amenities for the whole family, including dvds, games and beach/pool toys. The kitchen was well stocked with great appliances, and there was more than enough room for each person to have their own bed. There were great views on both levels of decks, and provided great space for reading or setting up a hammock. The home itself is beautiful and comfortable—exactly what one hopes for on a beach vacation. We can't wait to go back to the Dolphin Inn!

Amazing House and Town

My family and I decided to take a last minute trip to the beach. And boy were we happy to arrive at Dolphin Inn. It was a beautiful house with everything you could possibly think off. It is so close to the beach is not even funny. With toddlers it took us about 5 min. It is an amazing house to stay in and the owners are even better. We had such a lovely time there we definitely will have the Outerbanks Dolphin Inn on our top priority list. It is the place to stay. The house is super comfortable and it has great views from all rooms and terraces in the house. The pool and hot tub were clean and very relaxing. It is a great place for young people as well as families with kids. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.We will be back soon!!!!

Wonderful House

My friends and I just came back from a great week at the Dolphin Inn. I had my little dog and he actually lost weight from all the walking and running up and down the stairs all day. He was never left for more than 3 hours but we did use the baby gates to contain him. He loved being out on the top deck with us and having his freedom up there. There were just 4 of us so we each had our own room and bathroom. We were able to do all the cooking we wanted including the grill. The house is fully stocked and we didn't need for anything. One morning we found a dead oppossum on volleyball court and after a call to Joe Lamb it was quckly picked up. Pool and hot tub were maintained and we never even saw anyone there. I would defintely recommend the Dolphin Inn to anyone.

This was my family's second visit to the Dolphin Inn. It's awesome! There is so much room and beautifully decorated. The bottom level with the refrigerator and sink makes it so convenient to run in for something cold while lounging at the pool. The kitchen is great as we cooked most of our meals. The short stroll to the beach is a huge plus. Hopefully, this will be a family tradition!

Our families recently came together with my husband and I. It was everyones first time meeting and the atmosphere was great for everyone. The house is beautiful and everyone had plenty of room and had a great time. We look forward to visiting again

Our family and a few friends stayed at the Dolphin Inn in October 2008. We had a wonderful time and the place is great. Large rooms for lots of guests. The kitchen is fully stocked and then some for cooking great meals. Don't worry about packing stuff for a baby, because they have it all there for you to use. Great location to the beach and the bike/walking path is right out the front door. All of the extras are a big plus too, pool, hottub, internet, etc. I would definatley come back and stay at the Dolphin Inn in the future.

My family and I stayed at The Dolphin Inn during September. Coming from all over Virginia it was important for us to find a home away from home and that is exactly what we found as it had countless amenities and extras. We have been staying in the Outer Banks for many years in many nice places, but this is the last place we will stay- We loved it!!
