I was looking for an affordable place to stay with a few friends in a cool neighborhood. Park Slope was a lot of fun and definitely worth a look. Located a short walk from the subway and several grocery stores, you couldn't find a more convenient location. The owners are also very respectful of your privacy. Definitely recommend this place.

We recently stayed at this guest house in Park Slope. My daughter was getting married and we had various family staying with us...the max was 7 people. The building is older as are many structures in this area of Brooklyn. The pictures and description online are accurate. The property is clean, the bathrooms are large and renovated, the bedding was new and comfortable. The owner went out of his way to lend us some of his folding chairs for a bridal shower at a friend's apartment. I would definitely recommend this guest house to large family groups who want to stay in Brooklyn in the Park Slope area. There is a grocery store a half block away, 9th street is 3 blocks with another grocery and a super bagel shop, The Bagel Pub. The Bagel Pub staff supplied the brunch refreshments for the bridal brunch. The bagel tray and fruit trays were fresh, varied, and delivered on time. The apartment was in a great location between my daughter's apartment on 16th, the wedding venue at the Green Building, the rehearsal at BAX and the rehearsal dinner at Fornino's. We did not have to move our car other than to deliver wedding stuff. We walked and rode the subway with ease. This may not be a good place for elderly guests with limited walking faculties. The guest house is on the 3rd and 4th floors of the home. Great place!!! Great price!!!

We were a family unit of 11 with several visiting the apartment at times. It was a great place for us. Very safe neighborhood, lots of comfortable beds with good linens, a den adjacent to kitchen with a table for group gatherings, and 2 full bathrooms. We felt at home and were a short walk to restaurants, stores, and the subway into Manhattan. It was as advertised and clean and orderly. Owner sent very good information and directions from the airports prior to arrival. No keys needed, just combinations (VERY CONVENIENT FOR LARGE GROUPS). We were able to park on the street without meters, but we found it about 3PM and did not leave the whole visit. It's not fancy but VERY COMFORTABLE AND VERY REASONABLE! I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND IT TO FRIENDS OR RELATIVES!

I would like to give this rental a good review, as the bedrooms are light and spacious, it has a skyline view from the kitchen window, bathrooms are updated, it is a block off the main street of Brooklyn and close to the subway, and the on-site landlord was cordial. However, drawbacks, including: sitting area dark and tiny, furnished with two stiff chairs only, kitchen poorly equipped (no hotpads, one dishcloth and dishtowel for a seven-day stay, no stock of dish soap or paper towels), floors so slanted in the kitchen that we had to prop the table legs to get a level eating surface, junk stacked against the wall in the kitchen, were a real minus. Another dealbreaker for our family group was the persistant and overpowering smell of natural gas in the stairwell between the floors that was most unpleasant. Wouldn't go back, can't recommend."

Owner response: I like to make reference that the guest mentions that the landlord is on-site and cordial. Not once where we notified that there were no dish soaps or paper towels. We don’t provide paper towels, we provide a one-time linen/towel supplies for our guest. We do not charge a cleaning fee which is stated in our emails so we do not provide daily maid services to see what is and is not in stock. Once our guest arrives, we do not intrude on our guests and their space so we do not interact with our guests unless they notify us that there is a problem and then we immediately respond to resolve the issue. Our living room has a ceiling fan which has 4-75w light bulbs which our guests have a tendency to turn the bulbs to reduce the light. We only have two club chairs for our living room, this is by our choice. There is a mitt (a hot pad?) in the kitchen, usually hung on the rack. Our Brownstone is built in the mid-18th century, and our kitchen floor may be slightly uneven. This is our home that we invite guests to stay that is affordable and clean. We are not a 5 star hotel that has only the bare necessities for a traveler but high price tag. I’m not sure what junk the guest is referring too. The armoire contains all our daughter’s favorite keepsakes. In regards to the smell, our next door neighbor who was away for a couple of days had a pet that passed away and it was not discovered until their return. The pet, we believe, was in the general area that the guest was referring too. This was beyond our control because we smelled it too and couldn’t do anything. We have smoke and carbon monoxide alarms detection in each of our rooms to include the hallways to ensure our guest’s safety as well as our own family because we live in the same building on the lower levels. Again, at no time did the guest notified or called us for any concerns they were having.

Our group of 5 stayed here from 10/10 to 10/13/10 and were very satisfied. The cost for two entire floors of this VRBO was less than a single room in Manhattan. It was a huge bargain. The location was in a nice, safe-feeling, neighborhood and only a short walk from the subway. One day, I timed it and it only took 6 minutes 47 seconds even with waiting for 2 red lights crossing streets. The subway ride into the areas of Manhattan that we visited was an easy half hour and felt safe. The listing photos were accurate. My husband and I were in the room listed as third floor, room 1. There was both a computer and a safe in the room. Actually, I think they may have purchased new bedding after the photos were taken. We all commented that the bedding and towels all seemed brand new and of high quality. Lighting was good. Everything was very clean and well maintained. We’d heard so much about bedbugs in NYC, that we checked for bugs upon arrival. We didn’t find bugs of any kind. The owners were helpful. They sent a five-page list of information about directions, parking, restaurants, etc. before arrival. When we arrived, we asked for restaurant recommendations and the owner gave us many ideas. The owners live on the bottom floor of the three flat – we had the top two floors. We ate at two nearby restaurants. The first was Daisy’s Diner where we ate breakfast both mornings. The food was plentiful and very reasonably priced. The servers were friendly and didn’t mind giving us separate checks. The other was Peppino’s where we had great pizza and complementary mussels. The server there was also very nice and the pizza was wonderful. One day, we went to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, which was lovely. The other days, we went into Manhattan. The property had two good-sized bedrooms on each floor, a bathroom on each floor, a small kitchen, and a living area with television. There were computers available for use, plus we were able to use the free wireless on our own netbooks. When looking for a location, we were most concerned with safety and cleanliness. Although not upscale, this VRBO met both criteria and was a bargain in cost. It had the feel of staying with relatives rather than the cookie-cutter feel of a hotel. We enjoyed feeling what it was like to live in a real neighborhood in NYC. We were very satisfied with our stay and would consider staying there again if we return to NYC.

Eleven of us stayed four nights and were very pleased. This is not the Ritz, but a clean comfortable place to stay. Nice neighborhood, convenient to metro, banks, restaurants, pharmacy, supermarket, Prospect Park, etc. For the price and neighborhood ambiance, this was a real deal compared to any hotel in NYC for a party of 11. What a restful place to come back to after a day in Manhatten. No central A/C. but bedrooms had window units.
