Casa Farellones, Ski Chalet, Chile:

Luxurious rental home apartment and ski lodge. Full home comforts in a relaxed and spacious ski chalet set in the high Andes, just one hour drive from Santiago, Chile. Enjoy the best skiing in South America, in the most appealing accommodation.

Casa Farellones is a four storey private chalet with total built area of approximately 690 square meters set in the village of Farellones, commanding panoramic and unobstructed views to the West and South.

The owners, normally resident in Thailand, use the upper two floors primarily during the ski season. The middle and lower floors which can each be closed off from the main house as self contained apartments, are available for rent at most times of the year.

Casa Farellones, Location:
Located on a ridge at the southern edge of the village of Farellones, with panoramic views on three sides, Casa Farellones is five minutes walk from the ski lifts at Farellones (you can ski back) and five minutes drive from the ski base at La Parva or El Colorado (you can ski all the way back from here too). Valle Nevado (the third linked valley / resort in the area) is a 15 minute drive but can be accessed easily on skis from either El Colorado or La Parva ski areas.

Casa Farellones is a five minute walk from the ski lifts at Farellones (you can ski back) and five minute drive from the ski base at La Parva or El Colorado (you can ski all the way back from here too). Valle Nevado (the third linked valley / resort in the area) is a 15 minute drive but can be accessed easily on skis from either El Colorado or La Parva ski areas.

Activities and Attractions:
Skiing and boarding are the main winter activities. There is ample lift serviced terrain in the three resorts, but if you feel the need to venture further, Helli ski services are available from La Parva and Valle Nevado. In summer mountain walking climbing or horse riding are available. We'll be happy to provide further details and make the necessary arrangements.

Unlike the ski base villages at La Parva and El Colorado, which empty out in the summer months, Farellones has many year round residents and the generally green and tree filled gardens make it a pleasure to visit in the summer months.

Hands down this is the best play to stay if you're going to be skiing/snowboarding in the Tres Valles area. I stayed here with a few friends for the first week of September 2006. William was terrific about sharing information and explaining to us all that we needed to know about the area. This chalet has everything you need and more, we were even able to have groceries delivered to us. Also the housekeeper is such a sweetheart, she took great care of us and even prepared homecooked Chilean food. If you are not sure where to stay, look no further - because this is the place. It has a great kitchen, heated towel racks in the bathrooms, bathrooms in each room. Every bedroom has views of the beautiful mountains. I also forgot to mention that the views from the hot tub are probably some of the best in all of Chile, being able to see down to the city of Santiago at night from the deck (where the hot tub is located) is amazing. When I stayed at this chalet, I felt like I was living like "The Rich & Famous" - it just had everything that we needed and desired in a ski-chalet. It's also only a 5 minute drive to Parva - and from there you can get to Valle Nevado with an Inerconnect lift ticket. I think this Chalet is the best kept secret in Chile.

Everything was perferct!!!! Everybody very gentle. House is very cozy, warm, clean. really a luxury house, with every dollar! Hope to be back soon!!!

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

Owner response: Thanks Daniel for the positive review, I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your trip and found our property to be of good value. Just two small points, that I do need to make for other potential guests. While we have made exceptions in the past we do generally not encourage pets. And while our access and stairways are wide, we cannot claim any special facility for the disabled - and the hillside location should be considered carefully.

My wife and I stayed here with our three children for a week in August 2011 and our experience could not have been better! The photos accurately reflect the pristine and impeccably furnished space. Everything in the unit is high quality and brand-new. And most importantly there is lots of space. The owner could not have been more helpful and accommodating. And, of course, the skiing is incredible! The ski lifts at Farellones are five minutes walk away – those at La Parva and El Colorado a five minute drive ( but this is not necessary as all the resorts interconnect) William is a great host and once he showed us his secret ski trail to access Farellones (so you don’t have to drive or walk) we never touched our car again so get him to show you the route on day 1!!! We would definitely rent this space again.

Owner response: Andrew, Thanks for posting these comments. I am most glad to point out the back way from the house to the ski trail to any guest. It's a secret I am glad to share.

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 2002

About the owner: My wife (Thai) and I (British) are semi retired and now divide our time between homes in Phuket, Thailand (our previous home/business base) and now, chasing the snow, in Big Sky Montana and Farellones, Chile.

                  Why the Owner Chose Farellones:
After several year of searching Australia, New Zealand, Argentina and Chile for the best Southern hemisphere resort to build a vacation / retirement home (based upon quality of skiing, reliability of snow, access to shopping and services etc) we eventually decided upon Farellones at the end of the the 2001 ski season. Since Farellones filled all of our requirements, save for availability of attractive property to purchase, we bough land, hired and architect and did this the hard (but rewarding) way.

The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
The huge open spaces, the uncrowded ski area. Total peace and relaxation. All home comforts brought to a relatively simple and underdeveloped area. The Snow. The Sun. Sitting in the hot tub watching the Condors circling on the thermals as the sun sets over Santiago.
