Have been retreating to the Great "UP NORT" paradise in the woods for the past 5 years now and absolutely love coming here. The fishing is great especially knowing that the almighty Musky is lurking down there for you. Haven't caught the monster yet but that is what keeps us coming back!. The cabin should be called a mansion in cabin standards and is plenty spacious for both our families that meet there each year. If your looking for a place to go "Up Nort" this is the place to go. The owners are very accommodating to all of our needs and never had any problems. It is also priced very reasonable for what you are getting which is a lot. You won't be disappointed staying here!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

This place worked out perfectly for several friends and family members (14) for our summer reunion. We wanted a large enough lake home located in northern Wisconsin that was surrounded by trees and of course had a hot tub & fire-pit --well we found it all at Sprucewood! We were shocked at how big this place was and really appreciated the newly remodeled kitchen. They had everything needed to make a great meal. We relaxed in the the hot tub and the kids just loved the downstairs where they could hang out, play board games and play a game of pool. All of us adults would join in later with a fast paced card game of Spoon-such memories.... We also had a blast fishing on this lovely lake and couldn't keep the kids out of the water. A true swimmers delight with a raft! The location was perfect for all of us, just minutes away from restaurants, gas and shopping. You could even go to restaurants by boat, going lake to lake--that was a big bonus that we finally figured out at the end of our stay. Our family plans on returning next summer for another great reunion getaway in the Northwoods at Sprucewood. We are looking forward to it!! I highly recommend it. Thank you so much~Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

We arrived mid afternoon and we were immediately impressed at the size and accomodations that were available at this place. The bedrooms and all the extra curricular activities (hot tub, pool table, foosball table and ping pong table), the kids spent most of their time just hanging out and having tons of fun. The house was so clean when we arrived and were very impressed with the lake views from the family room. We snowmobiled most of the day and looked so forward to relaxing in the hot tub when we returned. It was great! I would highly recommend this property to families with children given the number of amenities in the basement. We were also allowed to bring along our two dogs which very few properties allow us to do.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

My wife and 3 couples, along with their 4 children stayed at this lovely property and had the time of our lives! It's beautiful, yet RUSTIC, and if the carpet isn't "pristine"in all of the rooms(it's very spacious) so what, that's the Beauty of the NORTHWOODS!No worrying about taking shoes off, whether it's sand, grass, snow or mud, that's the beauty of a rustic home, relax and put up your feet! The Bonfires we had nightly, will forever remain as some of the best memories of all time, that will remain in our hearts forever.Thats what NORTHWOODS vacations are all about, family, fun, laughter and relaxation. The Hilton Hotel it is not, a gorgeous property with so much to do...Priceless.We booked our stay for a summer family reunion in July and we can't wait to get back up there! Thanks to the owners(who were very kind, courteous and professional)for making this happen, as I know it is not easy running a rental property! Would I recommend this property? Highly,we wouldn't travel from SC if it wasn't worth it!Thanks again for having this available to us, we appreciate all you do to keep up such a large property.See you soon.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

This is a great place for families. There is a comfortable feel to the place that makes you feel right at home. Our extended family has rented this property every year for the last 6 years. The fact that we keep coming back indicates just how satisfied we are. There’s a lot to like about this property: 1. There plenty of room. There are enough bedrooms and beds to accommodate large groups. 2. The house is elevated from lake level, making it easy to keep tabs on kids in the back yard. Our kids range from 2 to 12. 3. Dam lake itself, is a great lake to swim, boat, canoe, and fish in. It’s large enough to explore, and it’s not overrun with other boaters. 4. The property feels a little secluded, in a nice Northwoods way, because it is bounded on one side by forest. 5. There is a large front yard where you can park your car and still have plenty of room to play Frisbee, Catch, Baseball, Bocce etc. Street traffic is minimal and has never been a problem. 6. The back yard features a nice fire pit area that doesn’t crowd out the grassy play area for the kids. 7. The deck is spacious and it faces south so it’s nice and sunny throughout the day. 8. The hot tub can easily accommodate 6-7 people and many times we’ve had a few more in there as well. 9. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking equipment. Yes, it’s true that some of the windows don’t work perfectly, but who cares? We open them when we get there and close them when we leave. As long as the screens keep the mosquitoes out (they do!), we’re fine. This property doesn’t pretend to be “high end”, but it provides a great value. The owners are great to work with and genuinely care about your vacation experience. You should strongly consider Sprucewood for your next vacation rental.Recommended for: Pet owners, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing.

This is a great spot for family vacations. Lots of space, lots of beds and clean. The game room was awsome and the view of the lake from the dining room was gorgious. The owners are very nice and the price is reasonable. I only had 2 draw backs - 1 no AC and 2 the grounds maintenace guy just walked in the house while we were sleeping, he did not knock or anything. I'm sure he didn't mean any harm but still not cool.Recommended for: Pet owners, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+.

We have been renting in the Minocqua/Eagle River area for an annual week's family vacation for 20+years. This last summer, our family was attracted to this rental based on the information on the listing and the recently removed "executive vacation home" promo. Some of the pictures are very outdated on the listing. The list of disappointments is long. . .here are but a few. Windows don't open properly, or don't close properly or don't open or close at all. Some of the screens were warped and mosquitoes had their run in and out of the house. No air conditioning. Carpeting was buckled in one bedroom and filthy in the room adjacent to the kitchen. Bedrooms in the basement were poor . . . extreme musty damp smell. Broken glass in the water near shoreline. Bats in the master bedroom closet. One bathroom has a leaky toilet that created constant water on the floor. The owners were easy to talk to and extremely professional when booking our stay. After our stay, we explained our concerns to one of the owners who offered a free week stay another time. We declined. After all of the disappointments we incurred, we elected to leave the 4th day of a one week stay. Although the kitchen remodeling is awesome, much of the home is in dire need of updating, cleaning, and some repair. I would not recommend this property to a friend or relative.Owner response: I am one of the owners of this property and I would like to comment on this review of our home. First of all we strive to make this a wonderful experience for everyone, bar none. This week was the hottest week of the summer, 95-103 degrees all week. That in itself can make things uncomfortable. I spoke with our renter 5 or 6 times that week of their stay. She first called saying one of her kids cut their foot on a piece of glass in the lake and she was upset with me about that. I apologized for the piece of glass that was in the lake. She then called back and said the carpet was filthy so I offered to have the carpet professionally cleaned for her. I sent our property manager over to have the carpets steam cleaned and they told him not to do it as it was too humid and it would not dry. It was a very hot and humid week that I am sure that added to their frustration. She then called and said the de-humidifier was broken in the basement so I told our property manager to go out and buy a new one and he did so the same day for her. I followed up with a call that Thursday to make sure everything was ok and she told me she would call me on Saturday as they were leaving our home early to put her mother in a nursing home on Friday. I am sure that didn’t put her in the best frame of mind and I was sorry that she had to do that. I followed up with another call to her offering her a free weeks stay which she declined. I did my best to make her satisfied as I would do with any of our renters. All of the photos on this site are up to date. I am sorry she felt they were not. The view of the lake was taken both from our deck as well as sitting at our kitchen table. The views are absolutely outstanding, at least in our mind! I am sorry that our home didn't meet her expectations. We have never had a bad review in the 10 years that we have owned this property and I am truly dissapointed that this renter had anything but a wonderful experience. The two parties that stayed at our home the two previous weekends both wrote incredibly positive reviews on the site and had glowing thoughts of their entire experience. I am not sure it can be so drastically different from week to week, but I guess this group had much different expectations of our up north home. I would hate for a review like this to hinder anyone else's future experience as it is truly a wonderful place to spend a week in the summer.

I was so impressed with this house, the pictures seriously do the place justice. The owners were super easy to work with as we planned our "last minute" weekend away. We met our son's family here and spent the weekend together. It was awesome to have so much room, a fully loaded kitchen, (everything you could possibly imagine) and plenty of room for the kids to run and play. The bedrooms are very spacious, unlike renting a "cabin", and the double garage is a great asset especially when it rains and you need to unpack or pack up. loved it, thank you!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

Had a great guys weekend here. Has 9 beds so worked out very well for only one person had to couch it. Hot tub, pool table, ping pong, foosball, free wood for fire pit, extra fridge in the garage for your beverages; what more can you ask for? I have 0 complaints about the Sprucewood & will look to book it again next year. Quiet street but only a few minutes from a gas station & a few more minutes to town for fishing supplies & more food if you run low. Private dock on beautiful lake...the fish weren't biting but that's my only complaint of the weekend. Great for guy's/girl's weekends or a couple of families to share the space. I'll be back next year!Recommended for: Pet owners, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+.

About the owner: My 3 brothers and I own the Sprucewood on Dam Lake. We are all from Oconomowoc, WI. We absolutely love this property in the north woods and have made many great memories with our families over the years.
Why the Owner Chose Eagle River:
We chose to buy this home after renting it for a number of years. We had always expressed an interest in the property to the owner and told him that if he ever considered selling to please let us know. The time came that the owner moved to Florida and we were fortunate enough to get the call from him.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The serenity and beauty is unmatched. You are truly in one of the most peaceful places in the world. The lake is beautiful and a fantastic fishing lake as well. It is a class AAA musky lake. Great boating and skiing lake as well as being on the chain of 3 other lakes. The dining in the area is tremendous and the overall northwoods experience is wonderful.
