The mountain views from the balconies of this chalet are spectacular! It is set above the village so the view is of the village with the mountains behind it. Skiing in winter and hiking in summer!
Chateau d'Oex is a small village with a number of restaurants, a gourmet butcher, and take out plus other small stores. About ten kilometres to world-renowned Gstaad and Gruyere is about 20 kilometres away. A small train winds through the mountains to Montreux in one direction and towards Interlaken in the other. It has a world-renowned Hot-Air Balloon Week at the end of January each year. One can watch cheese being made in a local Fromagerie or hike up the mountains to see the cows in the high alpage during the summer months. Lots of great hiking off the beaten track. Downhill skiing in winter can include skiing the whole Gstaad valley area. Great cross-country skiing track.
The floorplan is a large, open plan, living/dining room with fireplace and wonderful views, small fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom, on ground floor. Upstairs are four bedrooms, three with views of mountains, large balcony accessed through two of the bedrooms. One queen-size bed, one European double, two rooms with twin beds. Comfortably furnished. |
