Relax, Relax, Relax!! : If it's relaxation you seek... Tranquility at River's Bend has everything you need to de-stress, get tranquil, & just unwind! Webster's definition of tranquil: free from agitation of mind or spirit... free from disturbance or turmoil. Come, experience the definition. Spend some time in the outdoor hot tub, watching the river & stars as pulsating jets massage away your cares. Feel tension-relieving warmth in your private sauna as it soothes & relaxes. Take time out to just gaze at thickly woven trees & the river's bend as you sit back in your deliciously comfy rocking chair. Kick back & feel life's stresses melt away as you relax in cozy, river-side Adirondack chairs while nearby river otters play. Bask in privacy with sounds of breezes in the trees & rushing water passing by. Let your eyes glaze over as you snuggle in a blanket by the fire pit's dancing flames, listening to nature's peace & tranquility. Treat yourself to a moonlight massage on your private deck. Ahhhhh... the life!
Get up and Go!! : If you prefer a little more activity... Kayak, Tube & Fish in the river at the property's edge (tubes, life jackets, fishing poles provided). Hike trails in the Coosawattee River Resort (CRR) or one of many other nearby trails, including the southern start of the Appalachian Trail (GA has nearly 80 miles of the AT running from Springer Mountain to Bly Gap, where the trail enters NC). Boat on several nearby lakes including Carters Lake, 10 mins. away, & Blue Ridge Lake, 20 mins. away. Sightsee practically everywhere (as one naturalist said of N. GA, 'Scenic touring is about any road you want to travel'), including Amicalola & Ruby Falls, Vogel State Park, Cloudland Canyon, mountain vistas (1k to 5k feet) & more. Venture around CRR & enjoy miniature golf, indoor exercise equipment, pond fishing, ball sports, indoor/outdoor pools, & more or just play in the cabin's game room. If visiting in the Fall, be sure to attend the Apple Festival (Ellijay is known as the Apple Capital of Georgia).
Shop till you drop (and maybe eat a little, too).: While experiencing Tranquility, visit the quaint downtown area of old Ellijay - along with a vintage 'round-about' town square & Town Hall, you'll find: wonderful restaurants / antique stores... a fantastic boutique/bakery/wine shop (Corks & Crumbs)... a magical place called Christmas House where you'll find treasures for the holidays & many other delightful items at great prices... plus many more unique shops where works of local artists are highlighted. Close by in East Ellijay, you'll find many more restaurants & stores, including: Italian, Oriental, Mexican restaurants; a steak house; several fast food chains; specialty shops, log furniture stores, & more. North of CRR's main entrance on 382 is the Corner Cafe where you'll find awesome home-cooked meals & great people. A hop, skip, & jump away are the towns of Blue Ridge (north) & Jasper (south) where you'll find many more shops & restaurants to enjoy. Tranquility is the perfect name for this place!! Arrived late at night and thought the place was gorgeous and comfortably furnished (loved the soft, soft sheets!!), but it was nothing compared to seeing it in the daylight. The cabin sits high up on a hill with wonderful views of the beautiful river and countryside... which is what I saw when I awoke with such a sweet, sweet feeling of peace and "tranquility". I actually didn't leave the place though I planned to visit the shops in "Old Elljay", the nearby maze, apple orchards and some of the other things in and around the Coosawatee River Resort on the owner's "Things to Do" list (thanks for the list, will have to go out next time). Instead, I basically hung out in the hot tub, the decks and enjoyed nature at its finest. You never know when you rent something site unseen what you might end up with, so it's always with some hesitation that I make a reservation, but this time I was unequivocably and delightfully surprised! Everything I read about it and what the owners said was spot on. They were fun to work with and the days of simple relaxation, sitting on the different decks, sipping my coffee, were some of the best I've had in a very long time. What a beautiful piece of country that I'm so glad I was able to experience. I plan to return to at least see the spring flowers and for sure - to go tubing on the river. Thank you Ken & Sandy for sharing your piece of paradise!! (By the way, totally enjoyed your sense of humor!!)

Owner response: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts about your time in Tranquility! We appreciate the feedback and are glad to hear you enjoyed our cabin in the woods. Springtime is a spectacular time with all the trees bright green and flowers in bloom and, of course, tubing is great fun in the summer! Thanks again, we look forward to working with you in the future. Ken & Sandy
Tranquility and more
Tranquility and more
We had a wonderful time at this magnificent cabin and it exceeded our expectations in all ways. The owners have thought of everything, are extremely organized, and you’ll notice extra touches from the moment you get there. The cabin itself is loaded with high-end amenities and the view from all three levels of decks is amazing because you’re elevated above the bend in the river and can literally look both upstream and downstream. We love to cook, and the kitchen satisfied all our cooking needs. And we loved shooting pool, playing games (we chose the Trivial Pursuit game), watching videos (they have an incredible selection of movies), and relaxing in the hot tub. We can’t wait to reserve it again!

Tranquility at its Best
Tranquility at its Best
Cabin amazed me how thoughtful the owners are in touches throughout. The view was amazing and I actually saw 5 deer down by the opposite side of the river. Peaceful is an understatement. Love the porch swing on the lower level. Hot tub was so relaxing and serene. I enjoyed watching the little birds at the feeders. I made a day trip to the Lily Pad in the blue ridge. I did a little gem mining which was fun. Very child friendly. Can't wait to return to this beautiful cabin.

Love it, love it, love it!!
Love it, love it, love it!!
Thank you Ken & Sandy!! We love, love, love and totally enjoyed Tranquility and we hope to be back soon! Though the Fall colors must have just peaked before we got there, we still saw many reds, oranges and salmon colors all around and we loved seeing them from so many different points of view from the cabin. We must say that you have a bunch of great outdoor living spaces!! So many stunning views from your perch above the water and so much to do and so little time... two nights is not enough!! Hot tubbing outside both nights, indoor sauna in the "off times", the rec hall with the indoor pool and arcade games, all your current DVDs and the pool table plus puzzles and games galore! We also enjoyed sitting down by the river both in the firepit area and on the stone steps down to the landing. (I think that landing area was MY personal favorite.) So you know -- the cabin was spotless. Kudos to whoever cleans it. We all had our own floors and decks which was great for privacy (couldn't figure out what the other people were talking about in an earlier review -- like you said "can't please everyone"). And, we liked your promptness in the booking process and answering all our questions. Plus, here it's only four days after our check out day and we already got our security deposit refund notice back. All you've done to make your place so family friendly and comfortable were so appreciated by all of us. Thank you again for opening your place so others like us can enjoy such a wonderful and peaceful place! A great time was had by all. Tara L.

Serene Setting To Free Our Minds
"For the space to indulge in great girl talk, the serene setting to free our minds from the demands of the city and the exercise afforded from climbing the hill and decks :), we thank you. Tranquility at River's Bend was truly our home away from home for the weekend and we appreciate your kind consideration for sharing your cabin w/our group of friends. Thanks!!"

Not the privacy it claims
Not the privacy it claims
We were immediately disappointed when we pulled up to the cabin because there is another house *right* next to it. This other house is so close to the cabin it reminded me a just a regular suburban neighborhood. The neighbor's windows look right onto the back deck. The furnishings within the cabin were nice and what I would expect for the price point, and the view was pretty. But the outdoor furnishing cushions needed to be replaced one or two seasons ago. The hot tub was partially broken - only half of the jets would work. We emailed the owner and he promptly told us a trick to fix it, but even that only partially fixed it and the jets still didn't work right. We didn't bother contacting the owner again because we didn't like using the hot tub with the neighbor's window looking right onto that deck. There needs to be a small platform deck down at the river. As it is now, only one person at a time can get down to the river to fish. After our stay, we had to contact the owner three times to get our security deposit back. I don't like that he charges your card a security deposit to start with, but it's supposed to refund it two weeks after your stay. It was a month after our trip and three emails, one failed promise take care of it the next morning before he finally refunded it with a curt "sorry for the delay" the next week. Having to chase down our deposit refund is the biggest reason we gave only 1 star. The Coosawattee River Resort isn't so much a resort as it is a large neighborhood. When I hear the word "resort" I think of some kind of architecture continuity and design within the area. Not here. There are log cabins and plain brick houses and sided houses like you'd find in any regular neighborhood. We will not stay at this cabin again and would not recommend it to people either. The Smoky Mountains offer more for a family than the North GA mountains, but if you want to visit N. Ga. mountains, I recommend staying on the east side of the forest where there are more family activities.

Owner response: Your review stands out in stark contrast to all others we’ve received, including just prior to and after your stay. The cabin, its furnishings and amenities inside and out, and the location along w/nearby activities have all received only the highest ratings.Even so, I must say that at least you are consistent. Indeed, your complaints before, during and after your stay proved to be extremely consistent as well as time-consuming. We truly do like to know about our guest’s negative experiences so that we can take immediate steps to fix things that may be needed. In your case, we are happy to report the complaints weren’t supported by reality, except for the delay in your refund by 12 days. In six years, we’ve never once had reason before to delay a refund outside the two-week window. Because of issues believed to have occurred during your visit, we took the time to try to determine your liability instead of just randomly charging you and ended up deciding to just eat any damages ourselves and promptly issued your refund. You checked out on 10/10 and your refund was in your bank account on 11/6. For clarification: moving a pool table risks breaking the slate, which takes time to look at when coordinating service providers during times others are renting. Regarding the Coosawattee River Resort, the 8,900 acres lends itself to much variety in homesites, which means not every building is cabin-like or uniform in appearance, and thankfully so. We’ve never felt nor heard from anyone that it is like a “regular neighborhood”, in fact, quite the opposite. Of course, if your neighborhood is in a thick forest, amongst mountains, with large homesites spread across 8,900 acres with a river, then perhaps, it is. Our only neighbor’s home at 50’, is visible once leaves fall, which is to be expected. With the hot tub on the lowest deck, at the far end and slightly higher than the windows next door to which you refer, you are not visible from that vantage point. I’m actually writing from the cabin and reaffirm they aren’t able to see the hot tub, which is working on all jets (maybe you just didn’t know how to turn them on?). Even if somehow you were visible, the couple who live there are people of high moral standards and would never stare out their basement window, on tippy toes, craning their necks, trying to see the hot tub. Your review reminds me of the saying, you can’t please everyone-- I’d almost forgotten it in light of 100% satisfaction from all others :)
Wonderful place for a quite time....
Wonderful place for a quite time....
We used the place for a quick get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. This cabin is a perfect getaway with all the amenities of home, with none of the noise and distractions. The view is outstanding, the access to the river is just right with loads of fun; and the surrounding nature if absolutely relaxing.

This Place is AWESOME
This Place is AWESOME
I arrived with (4) kids aged 13-15 expecting the best and my expectations were exceeded by orders of magnitude, yes I am an Engineer. My daughter and her friend stayed on the third floor so they could have their privacy, I stayed on the middle floor, and my son and his friend stayed on the first floor, with the pool table, sauna, dart board, hot tub, etc. This place is a slice of heaven. All furniture and decor are what you would put in your own house, and little things like movies, games, and all amenities make you feel like home. Many a night was spent winding down playing a raucous game of Yahtzee. The tubes supplied were awesome for enjoying the Casawattee as well as the Cartecay River and we were close enough to go horseback riding, whitewater rafting, and spend a day at Six Flags in Atlanta. The Rec Center was great for a workout for adults as well as a place for the kids to explore for hours. Ken and Sandy were very helpful and the neighbors were great as well. The elevation above the river led to beautiful views and also provided a great natural workout. For those as adventurous as us you have to bring your own rope to make a rope swing into the river, we took it down to leave the place as we found it. Definitely will return to enjoy this cabin, trust me this is more than a cabin, again. Yogi Benson

Ken and Sandy's cabin is everything you could ask for in a getaway retreat. They do a great job of describing the amenities and were wonderfully easy to work with. The place was way more room than we needed as a couple, but the price was so reasonable we didn't hesitate, and we're already plotting a getaway with friends here!

Absolutely Fantastic in EVERY Way!!
Absolutely Fantastic in EVERY Way!!
My wife and I just spent a week at Tranquility at River’s Bend and enjoyed every minute of it. The cabin is SUPERB – the master suite was very comfortable with a great view in the early morning. The kitchen is very well appointed – we cooked at home every evening. We fell into a comfortable routine of building a fire in fireplace, then after dinner we’d go downstairs for some darts in the game room – then a sauna – finished off with a nice soak in the hot tub. I just do not think it could get much better. We travel a lot and have rented dozens of houses – and this was among the very best. Great view of the river, quite, comfortable – exactly what you look for in a relaxing mountain getaway! Also, the town is cute, lots of fun antique shops and such – several very good and friendly restaurants – we felt like regulars within just a few days. I think the highest praise I can give this cabin is that we are already thinking about when we can come back!!!
