This house is truly a remarkable work of art. It was built to resemble an old stone barn and does so beautifully.
On the bottom floor there are two bedrooms both with en suite bathrooms. One bedroom has a king size bed while the other has a queen. Upstairs you will find a magnificent Great Room. At the one end there is a seating area in front of a gorgeous stone fireplace. At the other end you can sit and take in the Aran Islands, Galway Bay and breathtaking sunsets through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
In the center of the room, there is a kitchen area with an antique table that comfortably seats 12 people. Also, hidden behind the fireplace, there is a powder room. The entire house has under floor heating which is truly decadent in the cool Irish countryside.
For those of you who wish to leave the house you will find abundant entertainment. There is a gorgeous sand beach just down the road. For the golfers in your group there is a world-class golf course just a few towns over in Lahinch. Also in Lahinch you will find some of the country's best surfing. Fanore is not as reknowned for its surfing but does have a surf school every summer. And for those of you music lovers, Doolin is just one town over and is renowned for its traditional Irish music.
In addition Doolin has many incredible restaurants and a fabulous craft store just down the road from the church (The Doolin Craft Shop). And if you need to get out of the countryside and into a city, Galway is just an hour away. It’s a wonderful city. Despite its small size you can find most anything you need there. If you’re looking for a great bottle of Irish Whiskey or an unusual bottle of wine, go to The Vineyard then stop by Sheridan’s Cheesemongers where you will find an amazing selection of cheese from around the world. But for those who wish to explore Fanore, you will find gorgeous scenic walks and some of the best angling in the country. And if you want to see things from s different angle, go horseback riding. You’ll love it.
The house is just up the road from O'Donohue's Pub, a small grocery shop and a fabulous Italian restaurant. All of them are within walking distnce.

This home in Fanore was simply stunning. While the outside was made of stone to mimic the area’s historic old stone houses, the inside was very modern, comfortable, and very well decorated. The views of the ocean from the upstairs living room were absolutely gorgeous. The living room was an amazing place to sit and enjoy a nice cup of hot tea while gazing out onto the ocean. The beds were also amazingly comfortable with their many pillows and cozy down comforters to keep us warm on chilly nights.
It was unbelievable how much there is to see and do in this area of Ireland. There were many great restaurants, quaint pubs, old castle ruins a few miles up the road and in the next town over, Ireland’s most visited tourist attraction- The Cliffs of Moher. Plus, the beach was just a short walk down the road. The beach alone with its unique limestone rock formations and tide pools with many fascinating creatures, kept us entertained for hours. The sunset (which was also viewable from the home’s private balcony) was truly incredible. Needless to say, I did not want to leave this beautiful home.

Stone House is everything you see on VRBO and more. The house itself is incredibly unique, but blends in with the landscape at the same time. The interior was as comfortable as home. The wind has a tendancy to howl at times, although you'd never know it from any of the bedrooms-very peaceful and exremely quiet. The kitchen is a dream to cook and eat in. We enjoyed many meals at home, and then walked to O'Donohue's for a pint in the evening. Pat, the publican, is is just lovely. He sent us home, a few times, with a warm loaf of bread for breakfast the next morning. The grounds are gorgeous-great care has been put into this property. Our teenaged daughters spent a great deal of time in the gardens reading and painting. The views were unbelievable! I sat out on the deck every morning with my cup of coffe watching the ferries from Galway to the Aran Islands, crab boats in the bay, cows in the pasture and the most stunning views of Connemara-the 12 Bens made a daily appearance. We made day trips to Connemara for hiking, shopping and sightseeing in Dublin, Galway City (several times) and daily hikes in The Burren. We also enjoyed our time at the house getting to know some of the folks from the area-wonderful people. Stone House in Fanore was perfect in every way. The owners were extremely accommodating and great to work with on planning your stay in their little piece of heaven.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

We have seen the Stonehouse build, we past it nearly every summer when we went to Fanore beach and this year we had a three weeks stay in this gorgeous place. We were able to enjoy the house all the better because the weather this summer was not very good! Although we didn't let the rain and gails interfere too much in our activities it was always a treat to know that the Stone house was there for our return. We especially enjoyed long evening meals at the wonderful long table - we even managed to get the turf fire going!- and we spent many hours relaxing with a Guinness or gin/tonic in the seats looking out at the sea view! Dreaming about our next return to this beloved place at the Irish West-coast.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Back from our trip and it could not have been more perfect! As we drove up to the Stone House, we were in awe- the house was bathed in pink light, and surrounding fields were dotted with cows - it looked like a painting. The Stone House was wonderful - very comfortable and with views even more stunning than the pictures would say. The view from upstairs - whether rain, sunset, moon rise, or dawn - was magical. Our family of four got to spread out and enjoyed the open spaces and great views from every room. The cozy fire every night was a perfect way to burn off the chill and relax. The wonder of County Clare cannot be overstated. We took a few trips, but in general, remained in the area - the beaches were beautiful, and the burren itself, ever changing. The house is so near to the Cliffs, we went twice! Our last night at the house was so clear you could see the 12 points in Conomara, but even in rain and fog, the views were beautiful. Thanks again for helping to make our first trip to Ireland such a memorable one.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

It's hard to find words to describe this wonderful getaway. Beautiful doesn't begin to describe the home and its scenic setting. Tranquil can only touch upon its peacefulness. And the charm of Ireland is right at your doorstep. We were there over a week, and the time flew by. We rented bikes and spent time exploring the backroads of Ireland on car-free roads with miles of rock walls and endless greenery around us. Many an "ah" moment spent there. You can also just sit and read a book and get the same feeling from the gorgeous views--whether lounging in the bedroom or sitting in the large open living space. The house has everything one could possibly need for luxurious living. A true delight!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is my first trip to Ireland. It was the perfect home away from home. It's great for writing my novel and telecommuting. I would recommend it for bird watching and yoga as well. It's the most peaceful place that I've ever been. The house is beautiful. The views are incredible. The amenities are extensive. It has Irish Charm with American flare. Big windows. Real washer and dryer. It has many different sitting areas, nice beds, and a big bath tub. It even has pretty good internet. You really just have to see it and feel it. My description and any photos cannot describe it. There was a lot of love put into this home. The only problem is that you might never want to leave. The townspeople are very, very friendly. The local pub is a great place to get Guinness (they add red currant for me to make it less bitter.) It is close to things to do and see. It is winter now for my visit. I love the rain and the ocean and the cows. I even watch the calves running and playing. And I've had plenty of exercise running on the road up and down the nearby hills and along the sandy beach. And the sun comes out to say hello. I'll certainly come again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Along with another couple, we stayed in the Stone House the last week in April 2008. Beautiful, spacious, well-appointed home with spectacular ocean view. The best place we have ever stayed in Ireland---by far. We'll go back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

The Stone House is MARVELOUS! We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends and family. The setting is beautiful with a lovely place to walk. The rock and flower gardens around it are delightful. You pass cows and horses and their colts on walks. You even see cows down near the shore. The kitchen (and whole house) is very well equipped. There are extra touches such as coats for rainy, cool days. The "upside down" living room is great. It is on 2nd floor making for an awesome view of sunsets and rain coming in across the Bay. Deirdra and Anna (the "caretaker") were VERY helpful about the area and the house. We had a few rainy days but loved staying in the house. As we took day trips it was a pleasure to come back there and my huband said after our last day trip he was so sorry we weren't going back to the Stone House. We loved eating and playing on the lovely, big, old dining table. You can walk to a small store that will surprise you with all it has. Also a pub is within walking distance. Definitly consider this house in your travels to Ireland.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed in this beautiful stone house from February 18th to February 25th 2008. The house was very large and so well decorated. The stone sculptures throughout the house added such a pleasing ambience. The lighting was perfect, The fireplace was large and we will not soon forget the wonderful smell of burning turf. Upstairs the balcony overlooked a garden, a pature and the ocean. The wandering cows could be heard mooing in the morning which always made us smile. The master bedroom had an amazing bathroom, with a separate tub for relaxing with a bubble bath. Outside of the master bedroom was frech doors to a garden. Even though the garden was mostly asleep as it is winter I still wandered through it. The design was fun and brought stone sculture surprises. Down a little path we were so excited to see ponys. My daughter actuall met up with girl who owned them. She and my daughter are both 12 yrs old. They became friends and went horseback riding together. The Irish are so friendly. There was so many beautiful sights to see, the Cliffs, and the Burren, and the perfumery. We will never buy perfume any where else again. Thanks for your wonderful house, and Anna was so kind and helping. We had a great time and cant wait to return one day!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This house is a fabulousl find! It has a casual elegance that I have not found often in rental houses, or others for that matter. It has a great feel of an old farm house, but the benefits of new construction - well-equiped kitchen, heated stone floors, comfortable beds, beautiful lighting, and loads of natural light. It is situated on the slope of the hill overlooking the ocean, feeling surprisingly private and secluded. The area is a beautiful place to explore, but you probably will be torn whether or not to leave the house! You will wake up to cows grazing and the sky over the sea constantly changing. I can't wait to go back!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This house is wonderful! We stayed in the Stone House in October, had wonderful weather (cool but clear!), celebrated Halloween, and enjoyed quiet Irish life! We are returning guests, but had always stayed in the Bridge House before. Both houses are incredible but the view from the upstairs of the Stone House is spectacular. For a smaller group I recommend the Stone House! WE LOVED IT!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
