The Pigeonnier was the Manoir dove cot and its size possibly denoted the social standing of the original builders, now renovated it has been turned into a charming hideaway for 2 or 4 persons. The mezzanine top floor is a twin bedroom with views over the extensive ponds and gardens, the middle floor is a double bedroom with en-suite modern shower room and the ground floor has a small but well equipped kitchen, dining area and a seating area with television and dvd player.
The Pigeonnier is used as a self catering holiday cottage, there is a private barbecue situated immediately outside the Pigeonnier door and charcoal is available from the main house.
There is also a barbecue and garden furniture sited at the lake which all guests are welcome to use for cooking or picnics. Why not fish for carp, barbecue and have a few beers during the long warm summer evenings.

Why the Owner Chose Bayeux
One of the most beautiful and fertile areas of France, close to channel ports and steeped in the shared history of the British and the French, the people are charming and the food is superlative. The pace of life is relaxed, old fashioned enough to be familiar and modern enough to be comfortable, it is France at its best.
The Unique Benefits of this Country House / Chateau
Listening to the frogs in the wildlife pond and fishing for carp in the small lake. Watching a red kite hovering over a field of corn, while sipping a glass of chilled cider and munching superb local cheese and breads. Dancing at the local fete with Grandmothers, babies and every age in between. The great privilege of meeting British, Canadian and American Veterans of WWII and hearing of their adventures all unique and each one a hero.

Delightful introduction to Normandy.

My husband and I stayed in Le Pigeonnier from April 22 to 30, 2011. We couldn't have chosen a better location for our first trip to Normandy if we had tried. Other reviewers have called the pigeonnier "quirky" and we would have to agree. Quirky in the absolutely best sense of the word. From its steep, spiral staircase to the niches in the walls formerly occupied by the eponymous pigeons, the building is absolutely charming. The timbers in the third floor bedroom are worth the price of admission all by themselves. The appointments are excellent as well. The beds are very comfortable, the linens lovely and the views beautiful. Having reliable internet service is important to us and we were very impressed with the stability and speed of the connection. The kitchen, while extremely compact, had everything we needed to produce excellent meals (when we didn't eat out and some of the wonderful local restaurants). The "welcome basket" of goodies was chock full of local delicacies and we devoured every crumb. Friends joined us for our last two days and they stayed at the manoir, which is gorgeous. We joined them for breakfasts and were overwhelmed by the choice and quality of items on offer. And, I think we tried them all! Sue, Dave, Jacqui and Dex were wonderful hosts who shared their time, insights and recommendations unstintingly. Our recommendation of Le Manoir d"Herouville is without reservation. Please go and see for yourself how remarkable it is.

We had a wonderful stay in le Pigeonnier. My children loved the quirky lodging and the comfortable amenities provided. (especially the English television stations) The self-catering apartment had everything you could want and more. I didn't need to bring a single thing to supplement the dishes, cooking utensils, etc.. Sue even stocked the fridge with a few things to start us off which was a nice touch. The owners were lovely people who gave us great information on places to eat and things to do and see. It was a perfect vacation and we would highly recommend this property to anyone. You won't be disappointed!! We didn't want to leave....

my wife an i had an execellent vacation topped off by our stay at the manoir. the setting of the manoir is in the bocage country of normandy surrounded by farms and forests. the manoir is absolutely beautiful, and our hosts/hostesses were wonderful. we could not have been more pleased. the tour of the "artillery" was one of the highlights of my stay and i strongly recommend it to everyone. we cannot wait to return for our third honeymoon.
Owner response:We can't wait either, these are nice people whose enthusiasm is contagious

My son and Grandson and I enjoyed 3 wonderful nights and days at the Manoir. The bedroom and bathroom were extremely comfortable, and the breakfasts were perfect. Home made jams, breads and yoghurts were served along with wonderful cheeses, meats and coffee. My grandson enjoyed fishing in the lake and searching for frogs with his Dad. Our hosts made us feel welcome and were very helpful with local information and directions. The three of us thorougly enjoyed a day-long tour with Major-General Graham Holland. He tailored the tour to our nneds and his indepth knowledge provided a deep insight into D-Day. Sue Roberts is a gracious hostess and makes all her guests feel at home. I have recommended the Manoir to friends and would certainly stay there again. Don't miss it!
Owner response:It was a pleasure to welcome this delightful family to our home and we hope to see them back in the future - complete with younger grandson......
