Relax in this exquisite home for a wonderful time in Acadia. This 3 story late Victorian home is attractive cedar with colorful gingerbread dormers. A classic foyer and staircase leads up to a well-appointed, completely renovated 2 story abode. With so many homes in Bar Harbor now converted to B&Bs, here is your chance to step back in time and enjoy a 19th century residence as it once was when the town's doctor, Royal G. Higgins lived here with his family. Just down the street is the astonishing Bar Harbor Club on Frenchman's Bay, built by J.P. Morgan in 1930 and still open to visitors.
The main floor boasts a modern kitchen bathed in light from cathedral ceilings, skylights and stained glass. Hand hewn hemlock ceiling beams compliment the rustic Maine planking covered with Andy Warhol edition rugs. Stroll from the kitchen to a large elevated deck with pergola, lighting and an open view. The living room, bedroom and reading room have wainscot, crown moulding and detailing. Amenities include large screen 3D LED Internet TV, surround sound, Apple TV and Blu-ray DVD. The main bath is modern, tiled, and offers a walk-in shower. The upper floor offers a master bedroom suite with reading nook, living room, a 2nd bath with shower and a King Bed loft bed accessible via library ladder. All 3 bedrooms are in opposite locations for a visit of quiet solitude.
