Two miles from Tahoe City and on Lake Tahoe's North Shore, this Lake Tahoe Vacation Rental home is perfect for either a winter or summer vacation. It is conveniently located for skiing at Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Northstar, or Homewood ski areas. The home is also easy and safe to drive to when there is snow on the road, as it is down hill from the main highway (28) to the house, and down hill back to the highway. For summer vacationers, it is: a five minute walk to a quiet beach with a pier and swimming area; two blocks from a bicycle path that takes you to Tahoe City, the West Shore of Tahoe, and along the Truckee to Squaw Valley; three blocks to the entrance to some of the best mountain bike trails of the Sierra Nevada; a two mile walk (or drive) to Tahoe City's excellent shopping and dining spots; and within a twenty five minute drive from nine golf courses that offer some of the most scenic and challenging golf in the West. Do you have a boat? If so, we can arrange for you to use a buoy. The location is convenient to the many activities of Tahoe, yet it is quiet and private.

The home has a 180 degree view of the mountains and Lake Tahoe. You can view Alpine Meadows to the west, and look across Tahoe at the Casinos and Heavenly Valley to the south, 27 miles away. The setting is particularly nice during the summer, when you can enjoy the large decks for relaxing, dining, or cocktails at sunset. This home offers the best Lake Tahoe has to give.

The Home:

Recent upgrades to our home include: a new kitchen with granite counter tops, tile floor, new appliances, and new cabinets; granite counter tops and new cabinets in the master bath, and tile in the master shower area; tile entry way; new carpet; and repainting of the interior, DSL High Speed Internet (Wireless or Ethernet) and by mid-summer of 2012 we will have another bathroom with a double vanity and another room with a separate toilet/vanity (total~5 bathrooms, as 11 people can concurrently be doing something in the bathrooms).

There are six regular size bedrooms, two small bedrooms, four large bathrooms (configured with two double vanity areas, two bath/toilet areas, and one regular bathroom), a separate toilet/vanity room; two living rooms, two dining rooms, library area, two very well equipped kitchens, two 450 sq. ft. sunny decks, sauna, and a washer/dryer area. We provide a VCR (2), a DVD, large screen HDTV (2), both with surround sound, a Bose equipped stereo system, a C/D, a well stocked library, a telephone answering machine, and a convenient spot for setting up your lap top/Internet ready computer, DSL wireless or ethernet. We provide linens and electric blankets for your convenience and comfort. And for your dining enjoyment, we provide spices, an enormous assortment of cooking accessories and appliances; a microwave oven, place settings for 16, wine and champagne glasses for 17+, 2 Propane BBQ's, and a coffee maker.

This is our second home, but we treat it as our first. It is a comfortable, beautiful, ready-to-be-lived-in home.

About the owner: Kathy and I have been Tahoe people forever. We have had season ski passes at Squaw and Diamond Peak for 40 years and have regarded Tahoe as our summer and winter home for nearly 20 years. We live part time in Los Altos, California, but we spend the winters and the summers at our home in Incline Village, NV, skiing in the winter,and playing golf, hiking, and bicycle riding in the summer. Tahoe is our home.

Why the Owner Chose Tahoe City:
After renting 'ski cabins' for the winter for many years, we decided to build one that was large enough to accommodate our friends and ski cabin members. This is why our home has eight bedrooms. We wanted privacy for ourselves and our friends. For several years we used our home as a ski cabin and as our friends moved away or bought their own places, we turned our home into a vacation rental. Since we live in Incline Village, only 20 minutes from Tahoe City, we are able to spend 'down time' remodeling and maintaining our home. Every year we make improvements and love doing them. One of the many reasons we chose this location was because it has easy winter access. It is hard to imagine, but it is down hill to our house and down hill back to the main road. We have never owned a four wheel drive vehicle, so easy, chain free, winter access has always been essential. And last, we chose this specific location because it is on a large lot in a private and quiet setting. From our living room you cannot see other homes and very few cars enter our neighborhood.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our most enjoyable time at our home is spent either on the deck, by the fireplace, skiing (in the winter) or hanging out at the lake (in the summer). Skylandia beach is a five minute walk down a beautiful forest path. We love walking down to the beach before sunset, sitting on the pier, and enjoying a glass of wine and a beautiful Tahoe sunset. This time of the day is also the time when the last of the pleasure boats are passing and heading toward the West Shore and Tahoe City marinas. The other benefit that we enjoy about our location is that we are walking distance, along a walking/bicycle path to the grocery stores and restaurants of Tahoe City. It is about a 25 minute walk or a 5 minute bicycle ride. Traffic can be bad around Tahoe City and having this convenience is sometimes invaluable.
